Hey everyone. I'm signed in via my workplace internet, which is a DSL connection. I could also sign in with my iPhone, which is on AT&T. However, for reasons unknown to me, my home internet, a cable connection provided by Time Warner, is unable to connect to IDW, WME or any server on TheWird's Domain.

Running through some Wireshark testing, it appears that while I can ping and handshake the server just fine, any attempt to request HTTP (that is, actual content) falls on deaf ears or the response is blocked. Similarly, the radio server will give me the initial stream information but when actual data is requested, either the server ignores the request or the response is being blocked. Unfortunately I have no means with which to test this.

I have also confirmed that other Time Warner Cable users in at least the greater Los Angeles area cannot connect either. These users are Godot (FC3SSavannaIII) and SidewaysStarion.

I suppose what I'm putting out to those of you is a test. Are any of you on Time Warner Cable? If so, are you having problems connecting (assuming you're reading this using some other connection). If not, where are you located? Do you know anyone else who might be on Time Warner Cable to test?

I'm trying to figure out how widespread this issue is. Is it just the greater Los Angeles area? Is it southern California? Is it the whole state? Is it all Time Warner subscribers?

If I have something of a rough geographic map, then it will be much easier to come up with possible answers for the loss of service.

Thanks, IDW.

I will work closely with thewirds on this. I hate the sound of this. It makes me frustrated when I can't get to the bottom of it. I wish I can say there is a guaranteed time-frame before we solve this, but I can't assure you at this point.

Have you contacted the ISP about this?

I wanted more detailed information before contacting them about the problem. Most of their first-tier techs aren't useful when it comes to specific website/host problems, so calling armed with detailed information such as a range of affected users gets you to higher-level support more quickly.

At the moment, I only have three points of data. I would really like more than that so I have a better feel for how widespread the problem is. All I can say is that at this point, it's affecting Time Warner Cable users in the greater Los Angeles area. I have no way of knowing if it extends beyond that because I have no contacts beyond that area.

Thus, this thread.

Got a Time Warner user in NYC. He's got no problems connecting to this site and browsing around.

I can get on again from home again, so I think Time Warner fixed it.

Same here, just checked and it's working.

So the issue lasted from Tuesday and was fixed today (Thursday).. Yeah, that sounds about right for a technical issue turnaround time. (48 hours). Good to know!
