Seeing as people have started posting fanfics, I thought I'd make a topic that linked to all of them. This way, people will still be able to read them even if they get buried under tons of other topics.

Woot. I'm the only one writing a Non-Initial D story XD Actually, I do have an Initial D fanfic, but I think I would want to pass it to someone else, anyone interested?

Ironically I've already posted this to the announcement board earlier this early morning, and requested if we would create a separate topic section for fanfics so it's already been an issue about. So don't you peeps worry about it for now, if it gets approved which so far Perry and Takumi_Trueno are the first to agree, then there will be a fanfic section for all the amateur story tellers. We will follow up on the info, so that way we won't need a pinned topic for it.

However it all depends how well everything turns out so no final word.

Although I am a moderator in this forum section, I won't pin it because I don't see it relative in terms of Initial D info itself which what the general discussion section represents. But it is up to Nomake Wan's decision to do so or not, but I think I know the answer to that already.

That's great to hear.

Fact is, despite the fact that the fanfics have been on the first page a lot... I have been giving thought to making some sort of centralized system for them, since now we have... what, ten? Just to keep them together. Good to know there's already some thought up above me.

But until the deliberation abates with a final answer, I guess I'll pin this as a stopgap. So Meteor, make sure you've got all the links! ^_~

damn this was my idea lol i shoulda posted it:D i want a pinned thread:( lol

Posted by: Meteor Nov 24 2006, 12:43 AM
That fanfic is simply way above my level. I don't feel like spoiling it.

The one outlaw-2 posted a few posts back. He's not planning to work on it anymore and is asking if anyone would like to takeover.

Don't just put one for the fanfiction... how about, add also something for those who want to RP... I know it is hard to RP Initial D but it won't be impossible... Right? ^_~

Posted by: Meteor Nov 24 2006, 01:49 AM
Well, I've thought about the RP. And the only thing that would work is a online flash game combining Initial D Another Stage gameplay with a chatroom and other stuff. An entirely text based RPG just won't work with Initial D.

That's where you're wrong. Head over to the Community Forums, check out Midnight Dorifuta's Initial D/Wangan Midnight/other RPG. Sure, it's not pure Initial D. But a lot of what you read in "On the Unbeaten Path" is based upon Tokyo Heat's RPs.

And yes, it's pure text.

Because of that, I'm wary of making an RPG thing... there's only been one, namely Tokyo Heat. So it's not nearly enough to warrant a pinned thread here, much less a sub-section like fanfiction may receive.

Posted by: Meteor Nov 25 2006, 12:55 AM
My bad.

Posted by: -Jt- Nov 25 2006, 02:05 PM
has anyone thouhgt of making a completely new fanfic not based on ID, if we have more of those, then wassit called again?that guy...razorsuke will consider making a fanfic section, by the way guys i think they'res fanfics in the community forums.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Nov 25 2006, 02:12 PM
It has to be related to Initial D to count as Initial D Fanfiction. Initial D Fanfiction would be the sub-section. Fanfiction not related to Initial D would not be allowed.

Think carefully.

Posted by: driftshift Nov 25 2006, 02:59 PM
This was a good idea.

Ouch. How about putting simply...

Racing Stories?

Posted by: Nomake Wan Nov 26 2006, 12:01 AM
The trouble with that is, what's being debated is creating possibly a sub-section for Initial D Fanfiction, right here in General Discussion.

That's one option, anyway. It depends on what finally gets decided. I guess you could try PMing Perry about it if you're concerned.

Posted by: Rudy Nov 26 2006, 12:05 AM
I don't think that's the best idea, honestly, because right now all GD is doing is simply going through a dry spell until the next news of Initial D. I'm sure once the possibility of whatever Next Stage comes out, or more chapters of the manga are written, it'll pick back up.

To be honest, I think it's better that the fanfics are right here. Dunno how many people will just glance over a fanfiction sub-forum button, go "meh", and just browse right on, yanno?

But hey, I'm a mod, I have no say in this. XP

Posted by: Nomake Wan Nov 26 2006, 12:11 AM
Originally, I would agree. There were a few fanfic threads that were self-sufficient that most people read, and they never, ever dropped off the front page. Now there are significantly more fics, and while it hasn't happened yet, the possibility of "losing" a thread temporarily is there.

Besides, it'd be nice to have an area devoted solely to the promotion of fanfiction. That way, everyone knows where they are (yes, we have this thread now with the links, but if they were in their own section there'd be no need for one), and they wouldn't ever disappear.

As for browsing on, people who want to will do that anyway when they see a fanfic thread. If they see a fanfic forum and go "meh," it's no different from what they're already doing. The ones who want to read a good story will come right in, and the ones who couldn't care less will pass right on by. By theory, that's the same for every single forum and section on Initial D World.

But as merely a single mod, I don't have any sort of final say--whatever I post, don't treat it as the end-all-be-all. I don't make the executive decisions on forum structure, Perry and TT do. ^-^;

Posted by: -Jt- Nov 27 2006, 01:23 AM
i would be a mod for the fanfiction section if i could, can som1 reply to my story so i can post a chapteer!?

Posted by: Dave Rodgers Nov 27 2006, 01:34 AM
I'd like to say this.

There are some fanfictions that are lame and smell of doo. These should not plague our eyes any longer by remaining at the top of the lists or in the fanfic directory. And creating a forum dedicated to Fanfiction will invite more of these people who should be allowed near a keyboard. Or there should be Quality Control mods in place.

Posted by: -Jt- Nov 27 2006, 01:36 AM
is mien in the lame crappy section?

Posted by: Dave Rodgers Nov 27 2006, 01:44 AM
Let's see...complete disrespect for grammar and spelling, ignorance of plot and building up to it, no real plan, huge plotholes, God knows how many Mary Sues...

Yeah, yours qualifies for the recycling bin unless you clean it up.

Posted by: Meteor Nov 27 2006, 01:48 AM
Does mine qualify?

Posted by: -Jt- Nov 27 2006, 01:52 AM

hmm does URS qualify now mr david rodger!

QUOTE (Meteor @ Today at 1:48 AM)
Does mine qualify?

For the Recycling bin? Yes. It's too convoluted, the characters are unrealistic even for Initial D, the cars are ridiculous and have no real specs.

-Jt-, my fic does not count. It's a parody that I have no attachment to. If people want to delete it, let them. I'll get on with my life.

Posted by: -Jt- Nov 27 2006, 01:58 AM
well i like it anyway so yeah ! KEEP IT

Posted by: outlaw-2 Nov 27 2006, 05:09 AM
That sounds just like me when I used Group B cars in my old Initial D fanfic. Uber Mary-Sues. Now that I write an original story, it's much more relaxed XD Of course, I did try to rewrite another fanfic, but I shoved it aside, since I no longer have the motivation to do fanfics.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Nov 27 2006, 08:44 AM
QUOTE (-Jt- @ Today at 4:23 AM)

Fanfiction is the one category which I'll allow to "break" the rules. If it's just to post another chapter, double-posting is okay. Look at Meteor's fanfic--chapters 3 and 4 are technically double-posts, but since they're chapters, they're fine.

Posted by: BOZZ Savage Nov 27 2006, 05:44 PM
Yah, Sorry -JT- and Meteor, but not to be harsh, but i do not enjoy reading your stories, the spelling errors are so common its insane. Its hard to care enough to read your guys' stories. And yes kiddies plot does matter AND OMG!!! NEVER USE IDAS TERMINOLOGY. dry.gif

I'll have to say that writing crappy fanfics help out quite a lot. It's actually important for a person to receive constructive criticism to be able to develop better stories, as long as they accept it (which is hard for me XD). But, it would be a LOT better if your grammar is correct when writing. Remember, once you've created a fanfic, make sure that it ACTUALLY reaches the end.

To the people who give comments/reviews, please avoid taking the chance to flame a person. It doesn't really help that much. But, I'm not saying that your comments/reviews should always be "OMFG, You Rock!" or something like that. If you find a mistake in someone else's writing, point it out to him. Like I said, it's good for self-development. Even REYHERKS has a chance...I think. whistling.gif

I'll post mine when the actual section is confirmed. grin2.gif

Posted by: Meteor Nov 28 2006, 05:39 AM
I don't think REYHERKS has the intelligence to make even a crappy fic.

Some of them:

"Foreword"
"The as the first turn approached"
"when the Keisuke"

BTW. I don't see frequent spelling errors in my fic.

Posted by: FinToy-83 Nov 28 2006, 10:33 AM
Dave, you need also note that you are 26, whereas JT is 13. thus, he hasn't had that much education as you or me, thus it's unfair to expect perfect grammar from him. I'm willing to bet that your grammar wasn't that good 13 years ago.

Posted by: Meteor Nov 28 2006, 10:55 AM
I'm 13 aswell.

For the non-Initial D section: https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=22902

I think a section for fanfics would be cool, but each topic has to be verifyed by a moderating team before its posted, to avoid spam and such.

Okay, my two cents about fanfictions:

If there's something that I hate more than bad grammar, a weak plot or horribly slow updates, is when someone starts several stories at the same time and then never finishes them. Ever.

This really gets on my nerves nearly as much as people who completely ignore the personalities of the different characters, for instance, I recently read a fanfiction where, people get ready for this: Ryosuke Takahashi GIGGLES!!

Enough said, methinks.

Dave, you need also note that you are 26, whereas JT is 13. thus, he hasn't had that much education as you or me, thus it's unfair to expect perfect grammar from him. I'm willing to bet that your grammar wasn't that good 13 years ago.

I was reading at a collegiate level at age 5. -JT- and I are on two completely different intelligence levels.

Besides, Midnight is younger than I am and he writes on a level that surpasses mine. What's your answer to that?

I rest my case. Also, I can only blame myself because I spend all of a few minutes scrawling up a new chapter and then slapping it on here. What bugs me is that my -worst- effort is better than most people's works on here. rolleyes.gif After all, "Serious Business" is not something I care about. I admit it's a dramedy\Dark Comedy but in the end I don't put effort into it, and work with no effort from me should not be better than 80% of the crap out there.

Dave isn't all that far off. Your ability to write well is dependent upon your level of effort. It's not age. If you're over age 12, you should at least be able to write well. You're a teenager--suck it up, punk.

And if you can't write well--LEARN. The internet may be full of crap, but there are whole entire manuals of style online and freely available. Better yet, if you don't trust the internet, go to a library--or ask your English teacher!

Better to filter out the crap offline than have it seep into fanfiction online.

Thanks for your critism.  smile.gif

It wasn't criticism, dark_hero_zero, it was merely a very subjective opinion of mine based on the fact that I don't think many people can focus on more than one story contemporaneously and do a decent job out of all of them.

But maybe it's just me because I am one of the people who are unable to write more than one story at the same time.

Having said that, I'm still learning and my works, even the ones that are finished, are always 'in progress' because I tend to go back to them to see if there is something that can be improved and/or corrected (which, funnily enough, there always seem to be...)

Like I always say, we all learn till the day we die, or at least we should, otherwise we're wasting perfectly good braincells.

Here, my other two cents...and that makes four.

Bye for now, Sanae.

These are the https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=26346 as stated by our beloved admin Perry.

Looking forward to your stories,

Posted by: darth_stitch May 23 2007, 07:51 AM
Just a suggestion - maybe we can feature some fan fiction recs (bearing in mind that we have to follow the rules set by our Beloved Admins so anything of a more adult-oriented nature shouldn't be included)? Would it be okay if I rec fan fiction not necessarily found on these forums but would feature links to these places, as long as I'm not linking anything remotely hentai?

I've been trying to wade through fanfiction.net and I'm just about to start here. In fact, I was one of the people who first asked about fan fiction. Glad to see it's finally caught on! biggrin.gif

Just to add my two cents to the grammar discussion - I have to say good grammar is THE foundation of good writing. I would not rec any fic that's almost unintelligble to read because of bad grammar and wrong spelling. Minor typographical errors are understandable (no one's perfect) but we fan fiction writers owe it to our readers to proofread our fics, even get them beta-read by friends, to make sure we do it right.

Writing is both a craft and an art. Like drifting, we have to work at it to be better, neh?

I once read this fic in another fandom where the author wrote:

"She wrapped her arms around his waste..."

Sweet god. Um. That's kinda disgusting, not unless you mean "She wrapped her arms around his WAIST."

Even worse was something I saw in the Initial D section lately of ff.net. It went something like this:

"Takumi put on his blouse."

Cringe. He's a GUY. He wears a SHIRT, not a blouse. Not unless Takumi is crossdressing and it was pretty clear in the fic that he wasn't. Sigh.

Hm. Now I'm gonna read through the fics here and see if I can turn up any gems.

Posted by: Meteor Dec 9 2007, 07:11 AM
Just thought I'd repeat something to those who read these fics.

If you enjoy reading a fic, let the author know.

Any fic, any fic at all. Leave your comments there. Be it praise, support, suggestions or constructive critiscism.

Sorry. But comics/doujinshi/fan-ga can't be considered a fanfic.

And this list was made because there were so many fics in this section that some had a high chance of being "lost". But your comic so far is the only one in the Merchandise section. So, as long as it gets enough updates, it should be staying on the first page.

Posted by: Gunma's 34 May 10 2008, 02:10 AM
Thanks for that, Meteor...
if ever I make my next update by text...

will it be then considered a fan fic?
Not sure though if I'm gonna place it on my thread or here at Initial D general...
what do you think?

Nope. Just because it's text doesn't make your latest update a fanfic.

If you're confused as to what is considered a fic and what isn't, I'd suggest reading a few of the fics in this section. That'll give you a general idea of how to write.

Okay, a friendly mini-guide for (beta)Readers and Authors:

Readers:

If you read a story, please be kind enough to inform the author by posting a comment. You don't need to analyse the whole thing, just a 'well done' or a 'thanks for sharing' should suffice. However, it tends to help more if you want to explain what you liked about the story and what you found that could have been improved.

If you think that what you're going to say will offend the author, it probably will; in that case, you might prefer PMing the author instead. That said, I always say that often, if you have nothing nice to say...better be quiet.

To finish off: if you want to offer your 'services' as a beta reader, send a PM to the author giving him/her a few good reasons why you think you can be of help, maybe even listing other works which you have beta-read.

Authors:

If you start a story, do your utmost to finish it, even if it takes a while. I don't think that there's anything more upsetting for someone who reads a story to find it unfinished for years.

No one is perfect but, a little bit of spell-check does wonders. Also, if you think you'll benefit from one, ask someone to beta your chapters. Note that this option will slow down your update rate significantly (which is why I prefer not having one).

Try and tag the story accordingly (if it's a comedy, romance, whatever...) or else use a little summary on top of the first chapter so that readers know what to expect. Also, adding a disclaimer won't hurt, after all, no matter how much we would like it, we don't OWN Initial D.

Hey guys, i know it's rather old but can you guys help me for http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanficRecs/InitialD It's a kind of recommendation page in TvTropes for ID fanfics, and i'm only in this fandom for a little over six months now. I don't know where the best fics are, except for Sanae's. Just replicate the formatting there if you want to edit it yourself, but leaving some recommendations (plus a few words about the fic's strength and weaknesses) here for me to update is okay too if you don't have a TvTropes handle (making one is free of course).

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Apr 15 2012, 11:01 AM
If I may add a suggestion, can you add the name of the author and whether or not the story is finished? It's a pain to shuffle through all the posts and updates to see if the story I'm reading is finished. And I get a bit disappointed if its really good and it's not yet done. Other than that, this is a great way of organizing things Meteor. Thank you for adding my story here! happy.gif

Posted by: Meteor Apr 15 2012, 02:59 PM
Yeah, I should do that. Already started work on it. Most of the completed fics now have a (completed) next to their name, regularly updated fics will be identified as such and some author names are up too.

Oh and, Demon Boost. Your request was granted a bunch of months before your return, but I didn't really make that clear so I'm pointing that out now.

EDIT: Finished making the changes.

https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=27758

And an example of an incomplete one. I consider an incomplete fanfic one that hasn't been updated in over a year. That should give the potential readers a heads up:

Woah, you work fast Meteor! Thank you for putting in those updates and everything. I find it a little funny that my story is the only one what is (Regularly Updated). Posted by: Meteor Apr 19 2012, 11:08 AM
Done. Thanks for the suggestion.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Apr 19 2012, 12:13 PM
Once again, you work very quickly Meteor. Thanks! I have another suggestion, but I'm not so sure about how nicely it will work out. So its up to you if you want to adopt it or not. I was thinking about rating the length of fanfics with a 5-star system. As an example (I'll just use Sanae's again since I love is so much! happy.gif ):

https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=27758
By Sanae
(Complete)
★★★★★ (81 Chapters + Extras)

Let me explain how it works, depending on how long the fanfic is, it gets that number of stars. You can change the ranges if you need to. Also putting the number of chapters after the ranking will help readers see exactly how long the story is:

★✰✰✰✰ - Short (1~10 Chapters)
★★✰✰✰ - Shortish (11~20 Chapters)
★★★✰✰ - Medium (21~30 Chapters)
★★★★✰ - Long (31~40 Chapters)
★★★★★ - Epic poem status (+50 chapters)

My fear is that some people might mistake it for a critic's rating system. So if the story is finished and its short then it has less stars and then some people might not want to read it or something. Once again, Meteor it is up to you if you want to put it in place, maybe we can use different symbols like squares. In the end it's up to you:

■■□□□

Posted by: Meteor Apr 19 2012, 12:18 PM
The star thing would be easily mistaken for a quality rating so I'm not going to try that yet. I'm thinking of simply mentioning the chapter count next to the titles, but I'm not sure of that either right now.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Apr 19 2012, 12:36 PM
Yup, stars usually denote some kind of rating so I think it would be better if we didn't do that... My mistake about bringing that idea up. pinch2.gif

Although I really do want to know how long something is before I read it. Whenever I pick up something to read, I'm compelled to finish it as fast as possible, or risk totally forgetting about where I left off next time I pick it up to read. With Dreaming of Akina, I read the first 10 chapters in a few hours then I saw that there 81 chapters. I wanted to finish it all as fast as possible so I just kept reading. I didn't go to sleep that night. laugh2.gif

I believe that it would really benefit others if they knew how long the story is, you know what I mean?

Is that really all that we have to do? PM people with the chapters? Man! Why didn't anyone tell me this before? I have to proof read all the chapters myself before I post them up! This would make things so much easier! Now who want's to beta read for me? Better yet, who wants to be a character in my story?!**

Since you've sent a chapter my way before, I thought you already knew about this. Anyway, I can proofread your story too.

Also, I decided to try out putting the chapter counts under the fic titles, so now you'll have advance warning before you start up Sanae's Programmed Lives and all its sequels. I wish there was an easier method for counting some of those pinch2.gif I feel I might have messed up somewhere too (going to have to recheck thx's ones later on). I also saw that two complete fics were mistakenly tagged as incomplete. That's been fixed now. Feel free to make any further suggestions.

By the way. If you're reading this Drifter: could you tell me how many "Chapter X-0x"s there are in On the Unbeaten Path alongside the main chapters (including "X-0x Part x"s)? It'll help me come up with a more accurate chapter count.

Silverwolf happened to PM me his questions some days ago. I answered them, but ended up with a question of my own in the process.
His fic happens to be a WM fanfic (which has already been posted over at WME). He asked if he could post it in IDW and I answered that straight-up WM fanfics (as opposed to WM fics that cross over with Initial D) can go in Artworks and Graphics but might not be allowed in General.

I just want to be sure of that last part. Is it really not okay to post a WM fic in General Discussion? Since (off the top of my head) there are already two fics in this very list that don't have much relation to Initial D besides auto-racing involving corners; and there's a whole series in General Discussion (but not on the list - with the exception of its Initial D-crossover spin-off story) that isn't an Initial D fic per se, but stays here because a mod moved it over from the Merchandise section.

@HyperSonic: Nope, no one took outlaw-2's Initial D fic. And he ignored it in favour of his other racing stories, so I don't think he's going to continue it himself either. So yeah, PM him like CG2 suggested smile.gif

As for your other question: I'll let CG2 help you for now. I might step in as well later if I think I'm up to it.

Is it really not okay to post a WM fic in General Discussion?

There is no official rule present in the guidelines that mentions this, but the idea when posting is be to as relevant to the topic, and subsequently to the forum/subforum, as possible. Since a Wangan Midnight fanfiction has nothing to do with Initial D, I would simply post it on Wangan Midnight Expressway. However, if you really want to post it here for the membership to see, then I would suggest posting it in an appropriate forum. Since this is the Initial D General section, and if there is no connection to Initial D in the fanfiction, obviously the most appropriate section would be Artworks & Graphics, as written pieces fall under its category. You might think it would be Anime & Manga, but for the reason I just mentioned, it's actually Artworks & Graphics. If fanfiction were a really prevalent thing here on IDW, we might make a "Fanfiction" subforum in Anime & Manga, but as it stands right now, this is not the case.

Additionally, if there is a fanfiction that is not about Initial D, but has elements of the series in it (characters, storyline parody, crossover, etc.) then it is perfectly acceptable to be posted here.

I hope that's helpful.

@meteor, Thank you very much. CG2 has been very helpful, I'm waiting for any suggestion the two of you might give. I have read some of your fics and I really wanted to write my first one, if ever I'll get the hang of it, I'll try to do make something without any help.

I'm looking through the list of threads and the listed fanfics here, and I see a few that aren't added on the list yet and some that are outdated. Meteor, do you want to update them, or shall I leave it to you to handle it?

Posted by: Meteor Nov 10 2012, 04:26 PM
A few of those fics were removed by author's request, but there could be some other fics I've simply missed to begin with. Point out those fics to me. I'll deal with them after I wake up.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Nov 10 2012, 04:30 PM
I am also too disorganized to deal with this. Meteor, don't be so lazy! There are like 3 new stories up and an old one that isn't even listed. It shouldn't be too tough, you can do it! I believe in you! So I'll go back to studying. derp.gif

@CG2, I like that avatar of yours. Hahaha....

The new fics I think should be, I think, added to the list of the thread receives enough traffic, well that's just me.

When will you come out of your hiatus?

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Nov 10 2012, 10:14 PM
Aw I'm glad you like Fakeisuke. I got it from my sister because she was screen capping random things from the first two episodes. I wanted a screen cap of Keisuke. But instead she gave me this. I thought it was hilarious so I ended up using it. laugh2.gif

If I ever decide to change my avatar to something different, here's what we are actually talking about:

Anyway, I'm not planning of getting out of my hiatus any time soon. I just recently picked up a research position with one of my professors on top of my current job and classes. Quite frankly, along with these new interviews I'm throwing out every few days; I just don't have the time to really sit down and write a full coherent chapter. Don't worry, I won't ever forget about Katsuko and everyone else. I love them too much to let them go. Maybe in December when I'm on break I might push out one or two chapters, but writing takes time. We shall see, I have a lot of ideas in my head. If I'm lucky I can sit down during Thanksgiving and write then, only time will tell. Even though I'm not actively writing at the moment, please take the time to post up a review of my story in the thread! It really helps my muse! happy.gif

Huh? blink.gif

The 3 newest fics posted in General Discussion are "The Muscle Drifter", "Battleground - Clash of the Speedmasters" and "A New Legend" (the one by Nicholas86); and all three of these are already in the list.
I apologise if I'm being stupid here but, seriously, which 3 new fics are you talking about? blink.gif

I could've missed some older ones though, but since I don't know their titles, I'll search for them later and see which ones aren't in the list. Also, I see I've missed Initial G, so expect that one on the list soon. If you know any other fics I've missed, please let me know their titles, okay?

P.S: Yeah. Nice avatar.

Ah, you've already added all the stories I was thinking about. Haha, you do work fast. Sorry if it sounded like I was getting on your case. I meant absolutely no offense in my previous posts, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding Meteor.

@HondaCG2
i knew he added the Muscle Drifter, Hypersonic requested it be put up, i asked him to put up the completion status for it.

the other two i wasn't looking for so i didn't know either so don't feel bad tongue.gif

Posted by: Meteor Nov 11 2012, 06:43 PM
No problem CG2 happy.gif

Don't hesitate to PM me though if you find an old fic that isn't on the list. If it isn't one that was removed by request, I'll put it up.

Posted by: HyperSonic Nov 11 2012, 08:49 PM
@Meteor, the fanfics which were removed by request of the author were removed out of the list or deleted out of IDW forever?

They're not removed forever, they're just taken down from the listing. You can still find them on the forums if you look around or use the Search function, all fanfics should have the [FANFIC] tag in their topic name. There are various reasons for this. I'm guessing a main one would be that they quit the project and they don't want others to see it uncompleted or something. I don't really know the full details.

Posted by: HyperSonic Nov 12 2012, 12:51 AM
The Muscle Drifter doesn't have a [FANFIC] tag. How do I fix this? Since I am the one who posted it.

Posted by: Meteor Nov 12 2012, 01:03 AM
That's simple. Just click "Edit" on the first post and place "[FANFIC]" in the thread title. smile.gif

Not sure if I already suggested this or not. But I was thinking about adding a little spoiler free synopsis of the stories right under the titles and author information just so people can um... get a feel of the story before jumping into it. Or is that too much? Anyway, I notice an increase in the number of people writing. I should get back into it huh? *looks at essays and long academic and social to do list* NAH! You guys can wait on more updates. tongue.gif

I second that, I feel the need to do this too, seeing people might misunderstand my Fanfic.

Already thought of it. Also added a little something to the first post quite a while back to address this. My fault for neglecting to bring proper attention to it before though.

If you happen to know of any that aren't in the list, PM me and I'll put it in. Also let me know if you've written a description for your fic and want it posted here.

So yeah, PM me if you've got a description on hand and want it posted up.

Carbon Expressway is complete, Meteor. Pending possible prologue, based on reader input.

Posted by: Rudy Dec 14 2014, 03:40 PM
I've decided to end On The Unbeaten Path as it is. What was going to be Chapter 26 is now a fresh start. I'll be writing up a prologue soon for a new fan-fiction, once I have a name.

I know this is a necro, I'm sorry. But hOLY CRAP WHEN DID WE GET A SUB FORUM!?!?!?! I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO THIS SINCE I WAS ADMIN!

Now my wildest dreams come true and I am so happy and proud. I should probably get back to writing my crap. If anyone cares...

Yes please. I want updates. I miss your writing style and it's been too long.

Anyway, because it's been kinda dead in here and stories haven't been getting much feedback, here's a reminder to all the readers here that you don't necessarily have to spend forever putting together a super in-depth critical breakdown of every strength and weakness in a chapter in order to leave feedback on the stories here.
(You can leave stuff like that to me since I've more or less gotten myself stuck in that role and that's what people expect from me now tongue.gif)
But seriously though, if you're liking a story, have suggestions to offer, etc. then leaving some simple feedback in the thread for the story wouldn't be a bad thing. It'll bring additional activity to these parts and it'll give writers more motivation to keep going, as well as perhaps tell them if they're doing something right or not. And I know some of the stories here may seem a little on the dead side, but some of us writers here are indeed planning on actually finishing them.
This place just needs some more reader feedback like it used to have. I shouldn't just be the only one commenting on fics here anymore should I?

(Ugh, there are so many story threads I'm gonna have to get back to leaving replies in)

But yeah, do leave suggestions, encouragement, typos you spotted, etc. if you can find time for it. I'm not saying you have to go shower every single story with a truckload of praise - there's no need to be super hyper positive here. Just try to let writers know that people are actually reading their stories so that they see more of a point to posting updates and/or improving their writing. It could help this section out.
And no, you don't have to comment on every single story ever posted here; that'd be crazy. Feedback on new and/or recently updated fics would be good though.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Sep 21 2015, 06:55 PM
Yeah, Meteor said it better than I can. I write in the hopes that people actually read the crap that I output and I get replies. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy when people post in my story threads. I'm not trying to attention whore, but if I put 5+ hours into a chapter, I would like to get recognized for it. Thanks for saying it Meteor. If enough people say that they want the story to come back then I'll try to get back into the swing of things. Just for you, I'll try putting together a quick chapter.

To be honest, since I'm not a huge active member anymore I think that Beyond the Horizon is kinda moot. I'll see if I can finish it up and then get to Burning Amber since that is something that I would really love to concentrate on. I'm drowning in work though, I'm so miserable and yet happy at the same time... laugh2.gif

*Goes back to grading piles of paperwork*
