IDW's Corolla Rolla' Group: Advanced Members Posts: 503 Member No.: 13,208 Joined: Oct 2nd 2005 Location: [=(86)=] | I downloaded the ROM a year or two ago. I enjoyed the game so much that I searched eBay for it. Now I legitimately own the game and I can play it whenever and wherever I want! And I got the original box and booklet with it too! Paid $60 US for it though, because somebody jacked the bid up on it like 5 times! It's very unique, combining racing with an RPG system (sort of). That is what I like most about it. I have yet to find anything else like it. It is actually quite easy to play once you figure out and memorize some of the selections by matching the japanese writing to the "video" in your mind of that maneuver. At least that is how I play the game. It's a good game in small doses. However, since there is only a small selection of cars, tracks, opponents, moves, looping sound effects, and ancient GameBoy music, the novelty does wear thin. I usually play a race when I feel like it. Other than unlocking everything the first time through, there is really no other reason to play it in long stretches. (OT) I also bought Love Hina Advance: The Blessing Bells on eBay. For those not in the know, it is a dating sim based on the anime of Love Hina. That anime is about some nerd who made a promise to a childhood (girl)friend and ends up managing his family's inn-turned-dormitory full of girls making his life interesting. I also have the ROM to that game, as well as an English language patch if anybody is interested. However it is text driven with only pictures from the anime representing the actions, and may not appeal to everybody. Thought you all might like to know. I'm into unique things. I get asked about my two GBA games out on the road quite often! Most people just don't understand Japanese culture, especially their entertainment culture. Guess they gotta learn! |

IDW's Corolla Rolla' Group: Advanced Members Posts: 503 Member No.: 13,208 Joined: Oct 2nd 2005 Location: [=(86)=] | Yes, it is a Japanese only game. But a GameBoy does not have region restrictions, unlike Playstation and PS2 or Xbox, etc. So you can play Japanese GB, GBC, GBA, and DS games on their respective systems without needing any mods! Now if this region coding wasn't applied to any console, it would be a perfect gaming world! So, yes, you can play Japanese GB, GBC, and GBA games on the GBA and Japanese GBA games on the DS without needing any mods! Cool, huh? I own about 7 import games so far: Original GameBoy: Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon R GameBoy Advance: Love Hina - The Blessing Bells Initial D - Another Stage Playstation 2: Initial D - Special Stage Kaido Battle 2 - Chain Reaction (+ the OST to that game) Kaido - Touge no Densetsu (aka Kaido Battle 3) This post has been edited by cyberfox8 on Jan 28 2006, 10:15 PM |

IDW's Corolla Rolla' Group: Advanced Members Posts: 503 Member No.: 13,208 Joined: Oct 2nd 2005 Location: [=(86)=] | DrifterKnuckles, It took me about 3 months to find the GBA games in ROM form! I tried the cartridge serial number and everything. It was nuts. And yes, I actually own a SNES Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon game. Haven't played it yet. I have played BSSM Another Story, but I have yet to beat it. Been too busy with work and college. BSSM was the very first anime I ever saw, and it will never relinquish the #1 spot on my list of all-time greatest and favorite animes. Initial D comes in second followed by DragonBall Z and Love Hina. And then there is Cowboy Bebop... Hey, a personal top 5! I need to get out more... Keep looking for those games though. You'll find them. |
