I just talked to one of the reps at the Auto Show last week and they said there isn't a final MSRP but they said they're gonna rival with the ND's price OR lower.

They're pretty cheap and don't they sort of meet your requirements, small, cheap, fun RWD (heck I'd get one if I was a tiny bit shorter)? Is the only thing holding you back the B6 engine?

Two things are 'holding me back'. One, I have a specific car I'm looking at that's right in my price range. Two, here you have to be really careful about NA Miatas because most of the ones being sold privately have been totally trashed (or people are asking way too much).

Just did a quick google search, and... wow! nice car~ First time seeing one... It reminds me of a smaller version of Misato's Alpine; drop an LS1 on that kitty and I betcha it can eat Vipers on the touge. Seriously, I'm digging those headlights. I drove a Starion once & loved the ever living blazes out of it... the Merkur looks like it'd be just as nice.

What's interesting about it is that it's re-badged version of a European Ford called the Sierra (which even came with 4WD at one point). Although it's a neat car if I had to choose between that and a Miata, I'd go for a Miata.
