I was just wondering a few things about updating IDAS7 (Japanese ver.)

Can I receive the game updates with just an internet connection but no SEGA.net connection?

If not, what all am I missing out on with the updates? since I assume from the disc install it will be 1.0

Currently I'm running IDAS6 1.2 +E (fully unlocked)

If you installed D7 already, it should download the updates while the server is running (providing there's still online service for D7). I suppose SEGA ALL.NET service is a must first though

I haven't gotten the ID7 kit yet, so no.

Also, I'm in the US so I don't think there's any way I can actually connect to ALL.net. sad.gif

You must have an ALL.net account registered with Sega before you are even allowed to connect to their online service (you will be given a Refused Connection error). And given you are from the US and thus out of the service area for D7 it's unlikely that even if you officially request for it you will be given the access.

Thus, you will be locked out of any updates that are online triggered unfortunately.

Aw, that sucks.

Anyone have any idea what cars and tracks specifically I would be missing out on?

For tracks, you will be missing out on Tsukuba Snow and Tsuchisaka Snow.
I think thats about it. Don't remember them adding new cars

I suppose I can live with that. I never really liked snow tracks anyway, haha.

Oh, one other thing. In ID6, I can't seem to do tag battles vs CPU. (I have 2 cabinets linked to a server)

I know you obviously need to be online to do online tag battles, but shouldn't in shop vs cpu work? I guess what I'm asking is, is that an ID7 only feature or do I just not have the ability to even do vs cpu tag battles without online? That seems silly, but I somehow wouldn't be surprised.

I'm under the impression you can do tag battles againts CPU, done it many times. But I've also never seen a D6 with just one pair of machines and tried it on that setup.

What about the settings in the test menu? Try checking it out for the seat assignments etc etc.

If i am not mistaken, for D6, if you only have a pair of cabinets and your pair of machines are offline, you cannot even have tag battles as the process is the game will attempt to search for a real opponent before giving you the cpu tag. since that step cannot happen at all, the Tag Battle option is not available at all. If you want to do tag battles vs the cpu offline you need to have 2 pairs of cabs...

D7 is different as there is Operation Kanto (tag vs cpu) selectable as an option instead of Online/In Store tag.

Oh, interesting.

Hopefully I will have ID7 soon. I ordered an upgrade kit (directly from Sega no less) and I received the drive, ID7 disc, and....the wrong security chips. sad.gif

Trying to get this situation fixed soon.

How much was it to order the upgrade kit? And they gave you the security chip for the EXP version or something?

I actually managed to get a used upgrade kit for around $1100. It included the dvd, dvd-drive + cables, and 3 security dongles.

What they had sent me were ID6 JP chips, because they have the exact same Part #s as my existing chips, and ID6 runs fine with the new chips installed, but ID7 will not install.

Do you have a link to the SEGA site where you were able to order the upgrade kit used?

Thanks
