I read the news about how Carrie Fisher, who played Princess/General Leia in Star Wars Episodes 4-8, had a heart attack or cardiac arrest a few days ago while she was on a flight to/from Los Angeles and was in the ICU in a hospital, I was hoping she'd pull through, but she didn't and passed away sometime this morning.

This year has been pretty abysmal for celebrity/athlete deaths, starting with David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, Muhammed Ali, Gordie Howe, Anton Yelchin, wrestling's Mr. Fuji, Kenny Baker (R2-D2) to more recently George Michael and now Carrie Fisher. I hope that 2017 makes up for such a sad year that 2016 has turned out to be.

Made worse by the incredibly divided social space. I saw a tweet today that disregarded her death because "the bitch was white". facepalm.gif

I've been raised to celebrate their life upon a person's death, instead of mourning (for very long) and being depressed. Thankfully, her work on Episode VIII has already been filmed, so we'll get to see her again next year. Because of her place in pop culture history, there is a wealth of content to look through and get to know the woman behind the hair buns. She's been interviewed extensively. Watch those. Watch Star Wars. Read her recent book. Through those things she left behind for us, she is immortalized.

Great Disney Princess, or Greatest Disney Princess?

More so Greatest Princess in movie history.

Nice to know that one of her books she wrote later became a movie.

You know that every year in your life may as well be sad since famous people die literally every year? Time as a unit of measurement didn't kill these people, and natural order isn't going to arbitrarily change just because the date changes year. 2017 will be more of the same, just different names.

Saddened to see her go so soon. I've loved the wit she displays in alot of the interviews I've seen of her, especially leading up to Episode VII.

So, what, are we going to pretend the Blues Brothers never existed? shifty2.gif

RIP Carrie.

Where did you get that idea? Pretty sure it was suggested to go back and watch her stuff.

Yeah, apparently her last words, according to her son, were that she wants to be with Carrie. sad.gif
