So I've used a few HID kits in the past but my largest concern is visibility. From what I've gathered a lot of the persons on the road with the pretty "exotic" lights really don't have the visibility, but they cut off my vision horribly when they refuse to dim against the oncoming traffic (me). So I got some fairly decent HIDs but now the darn bulbs are failing me, and I'm getting tired of the limited visibility when they don't dim their lights - this mainly happens with trailers and trucks these days or with cars that don't have their lights focused.

So now I'm at the point where I need a solution for visibility - blinding the nice guy who doesn't dim when I do is a plus - but it's all about being able to see when they refuse to dim their lights.

What I've done so far is replace the stock headlights on the '95 Civic I have with some projector lights - they look much clearer and seem brighter, but they now use H1 instead of the H4 bulbs and I have to use 4 of them instead of just two.

Now that one of the bulbs seems to have taken a walk on me, do I replace it or go LED? I saw a really nice video but I'm wondering if that will be worth it..........It looks good, but I can bet the price is high also.

So I need to know from you guys what's the best route to take. Stick with my HID kits? Upgrade them? Go LED? What to do?

It might be that im tired, but im actually having a really difficult time understanding what your concern/complaint about your lights actually is? Are you saying you cant see the light from your headlights when your dazzled by oncoming traffic when they dont dim their own lights?

What kind of HIDs do you have? Did you have to mount/wire up an electrical ballast, or was it a direct swap in bulb? Does the bulb have a filament (the metallic coil springy thing) inside it?

Like so:

Or does it have a funny hollow tube in the middle, like so?

If you currently have HIDs, what color temperature are they?

This, 4300-5000k is ideal.

Most OEM HID bulbs are going to be 4300k. I have traditionally run higher temp halogen bulbs in my high beams for just the purpose of messaging other drivers. Trust me, it works. awesome.gif

See, I have to check, but when I hit the highs on the Jetta, I hear a "clunk." The headlights are auto leveling, and I believe it's done with a motorized cut-off, so I'm fairly certain the HIDs are used in conjunction with the traditional secondary bulb, for all of the FUCK YOU NOW YOU'RE BLIND. I haven't verified that simply because I have no desire to stare into those headlights with the highs on, lol.

That's what I had in. Two of them. My issue is the failure rate according to this chart.

http://www.innovativelight.com/led_facts/h...s-led-lighting/

And the fact that I now need a single bulb. The current kits are 35W but I'm wondering if I should scrap those and get the 55W versions - they're now on sale. Does it REALLY make a difference between the 35W and 55W? Should I spend and get some LEDs instead? This is where I'm uncertain. Also the ones I had/have in were/are 4300k.

So - I'm still alive - just been working a lot.

So I'm getting this.

Not fond of the 6000K but didn't see anything else available currently. Gonna use it for high beam and have my HID for low. Depending on how it works I may just convert everything to these.

I would say led lights are better than those HID lights bulbs.. It consumes less power and produce less heat.. Hence it lasts for long time.. I also replaced all the hid bulbs with led.. Visit this weblink for best deals about any led or HID lights..
