Just a guy towing a car across the country to chase a dream. Group: FORUM MODERATOR Posts: 9,272 Member No.: 30,193 Joined: Jul 25th 2008 Location: Plymouth, MN | This is pretty much breaking right now, but it would appear from reports that Paul died today in an accident in which he was a passenger. I really don't have any words, but the automotive world has lost an icon today. Article on Jalopnik: http://jalopnik.com/fast-and-furious-star-...n-ca-1474200748 |

Everyone's just reblogging TMZ (which is the sad state of journalism these days, but that's another thread). |

However, 9K Racing, a shop out in CA with staff that knew Paul personally is claiming truth to the story. |

AlwaysEvolving, a shop Paul was financially involved in, was putting on a charity car show today. They have (had?) on their site a Carrera GT, that Paul went for a ride in as a passenger. Presumably, it did Porsche things, and the driver lost it into a tree. I'd be more accepting of it if Paul himself had been behind the wheel. The passenger seat is the worst.

At first, I thought he was driving but I guess not. I... cannot express how sad I am. I may not be knowledgeable in automotive but I knew the actor for his role in the movies. You will be missed. At that point, I wouldn't do another F&F movie without him now he's gone. He was 1 of the 2 icons. |

I always liked the character he plays. Man, I can't express how I feel. This has effectively ruined my day, or even week. R.I.P. Paul Walker. |

The franchise definitely got better as each one was made. I was totally looking forward to F&F7 as fucking hype, but now that's gone. I still hope they finish filming, but it'll be to Paul Walker what The Crow was to Brandon Lee or The Dark Knight was to Heath Ledger, his final legacy in the most surreal way. At least he did what he did best: Entertain. And he did damn well at that too. RIP Paul Walker

Trust me, I'm a doctor. Group: Advanced Members Posts: 6,186 Member No.: 1,277 Joined: Feb 14th 2004 Location: Bay City, MI | RIP Paul Walker The driver was the owner of AE Performance. He's had plenty of racing experience himself. To make things even more sad.. This whole thing happened either before or after a charity toy drive today put on by Reach Out WorldWide, which Paul started in 2010. Here's the event with a few pics of him before the incident: https://www.facebook.com/events/221096411400741/ Oops.. Didn't realize Jalopnik updated their story from earlier with more info. This is farther reaching than automotive, but I'll move it. This actually, legitimately rough... He was really an unseen pillar of our community and culture. There in the background, but at the same time at the forefront. And it's not something you ever think about until he's gone.

Well, it's like with anyone else, really. He was just like any regular guy, he just happened to be a well-known actor. One moment he's waking up looking forward to a charity, maybe some movie shooting later in the week, and then his life comes to a literal halt for no reason. And there's so much left behind.

IIRC McRae got a thread in Automotive... I think it's honestly only fair he gets one too. The guy was a legend most closely associated with cars. Not just for F&F--though that is a large part--but for his own racing career and fighting the good fight to get fun cars imported. Thanks for the move. The creepiest thing so far, to be honest, was J's wife posting a picture of herself with Walker on Facebook 8 hours ago, just before the crash happened. Apparently they were in attendance at this particular event. Just...woah.
