| Ladies and gentlemen, after more than six years of wait, Kodansha's Young Magazine has announced that a new anime series adaptation of Shuuichi Shigeno's Initial D - car-racing manga has been confirmed. Though, the format of the new anime series has not been revealed yet. It could be in the form of television anime, original video anime or some other format. We don't have those details yet. We will have to wait 'til August 6 when they release more details regarding this new anime series. As a die hard Initial D fans, this is possibly the most exciting Initial D news since the announcement of Fourth Stage back in late 2003. | What a start to my morning this was. So what do you think this is going to be? A remake? Or a short, new stage covering most of the new races (assuming Takumi VS Shinji doesn't end by the time the other races get full adaptations)? I'd be fine with either as long as it's done well. I wonder what the art, animation and 3DCG's gonna look like this time around. That's something that's changed every stage so far. Everything else is likely to be decent (Well, except for some of the recent races. But those might be more enjoyable in animated form). I'm looking forward to this for now, anyway. Also, considering the Eight-Six had its suspension repaired at the end of Fourth Stage, they're going to have change a few details if they want to keep the Project-D-impersonators plot working and introduce Mika. Might be interesting to see how they pull it off. Are Ryousuke and Rin going to talk telepathically in this one too?  |

Wow, that was quick! Glad to see an old member back. But why do you say 8 years? Fourth Stage ended in 2006. Plus we had Extra Stage 2 in 2008. |

| Hoping it would be Fifth Stage rather than another OVA or a remake. But regardless something is better than nothing. I wonder whether the upcoming IDAS7XX's timing was to coincide with this new anime as well? Didnt feel like it was that long since IDAS6AA was released. |

It coincides with the recent Initial D High Def airing in Japan coming to a close soon. That and the announcement date being 8-6... I wonder if they truly meant for that to happen, or if it's just a goddamned amazing coincidence. |

| PERRY GET OFF YOUR LAZY BUTT AND GET THOSE INITIAL D EPISODES ON THE TV SERVER RIGHT NOW! I only have First and Second Stage on DVD with me. I'm getting Third and Fourth Stage probably at the end of summer. I really need to marathon through the series again myself. |

| If you're gonna do a re-watching of the series, at least do it with me. I'll try my best. Otherwise, a group viewing on the video server would be good... but we'd have to do it every night in order to have the whole series watched in time for this new thing's airing (depending on when they plan to start airing it, of course,) |

| Calm the fuck down, guys. JNC doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about. Their source is the exact same one we used yet they used the word 'reboot' despite that being NOWHERE IN THE SOURCE. If you must know, the translation of the important part goes like this: "Initial D new Anime project announced! In this month's Young Magazine Initial D chapter, the announcement 'Initial D new Anime Project confirmed! Details in next month's Young Magazine!' was posted!" That's it. That's all there was. There's a new Anime project, and the details will be posted in the next issue. Nothing else. It gave no details whatsoever. So calm the hell down and wait patiently. Stop thinking that some English-language car blog somehow has more information than the original source magazine. |

That's a good question. I don't think anyone uploaded those, but I could be wrong. Perhaps they'll see the light of day in Blu-ray format sometime. |

| Interestingly, many Anime released on blu-ray in Japan have the US English dub track on them. I first discovered this with the blu-rays for Utawarerumono and the trend has been rather telling. However, it should be noted that this only goes for older series that enjoyed licensing before blu-ray technology was around. Current series have such fast production schedules that most end up getting a complete blu-ray release in Japan before even the first disc hits US shores. |

It's not a reboot, it's not a remake, it's not a re-anything. The announcement never said anything of the sort, simply giving the vague "new Initial D anime" to be revealed next Monday. Please, everybody, do your part to stifle this odd notion that they're remaking the entire series. |

| Word on the street that I've been hearing is that we're looking at a limited disc production run OVA equivalent to what the extra stages were to Impact Blue; basically manga storyline that the editors threw out during the first 4 stages. Granted these are rumors, but at the same time the dude who told me doesn't talk out of his ass; he got this info somewhere. That being said, it'll be a huge letdown if their big announcement turns out to be the release of a ton of filler... And at the rate the series has been going these days, you won't find me colored any shade of surprised. |

It's pretty much official stuff. It does say "Latest" series there, so I'm going to go ahead an interpret that as Fifth Stage. At the very least 'latest series' suggests that it won't be a reboot/remake. |

| I have regular old Animax as part of my Hikari TV package. Is Animax PPV something offered in the states? I know I also have a bunch of PPV options, but everything is in Japanese. I'm gonna have to figure this out. |
