well im a noob. so im not sure if im right but.

FR is front wheel drive. (i think) meaning it should accelerate faster. FF if i remember right is a rally car? not sure. its meant for something. idk. 4 wheel drive is like an evo its suppose to be easy to handle. since it uses all 4 wheels. which ever fits you the best you should stick with it.

i just recently learned how beautiful my Celica GT-4 is. Akina Snow Rocks. 4wd.

FR is a car that has the engine at the bonnet/front of the car and uses it's two rear wheels to move. It's best for drifting. It's a little unstable in the rain and on gravel. e.g nissan silvia S15

FF has the engine at the front and uses it's front wheels to move. This type of layout is great for grip driving and stability. It's very hard to drift in a FF. e.g. honda civic EG6

MR has the engine at the back of the car and uses it's rear wheels to move. A MR has an advantage over FRs in grip racing because of the weight of the engine at the back. This weight 'presses' the rear tires to the ground, producing more traction. This might also mean a better start up as it minimizes wheel spin. MRs can drift if properly tuned. e.g. Honda NSX

AWD means that the engine makes all four wheels move, creating incredible stability. Most AWDs have their engine at the front. AWDs are best in snow and rallies. They require power tuning to drift. e.g. Mitsubishi lancer evolution III CE9A

This is based on real life. It does not relate to Arcade Stage 3. If you want to know about cars in Arcade stage 3, ask someone else bcoz i know nothing about it. Cheers! smile.gif

Should'nt 4WD accelerate better due to it's greater traction?

And i'm sure MR means Mid Engine, Rear Drive. The only Rear Engines I know of are Porsches.

General rules regarding drivetrains on IDAS3:

-All FF cars suck horribly on Usui, but are excellent on Happo dry.

-All AWD cars are easy to drive on snow. If you're driving an AWD and want an (unfair) advantage over an FR, FF, or MR driver, take them to snow.

-Most AWD cars are easy to drive in the rain. (Most, but not all. One exception is the Celica)

-MRs have poor top end acceleration, but have fast start up for 5 gear cars.

-FRs suck on snow. Oversteer prone FRs seem to do better than Understeer prone FRs.

i know this is kind of an old thread, but to specify, MR means that the engine is mounted between the axles, with the back tires powering the car. there are both front mid engine cars and rear mid engine cars. examples of front mid engine cars are the s2000 and the g35. examples of the back mid engine cars are mr2/spyder and porches.

and the BNR34 is a horrible car. for some reason, i cant get it to turn - lots of understeer. very quick off the line though.
