Saw one of these for the other games in the series so I figured I'd start one.

I almost finished Spec 4 yesterday, still getting used to the car as it gets better and the courses are much different than I imagined so I'm still getting used to those too. derp.gif

About time we start this.

Having some time to clear anything i have to (missions) and if some ppl need help to clear i try to help them. ~

Tried AT tdy , AT in D8 is far more better than D7 in terms of accleration. (Y)
But the only thing about MT is , sometimes if u r too early at gearing up , the tachometer system stuck there instead of up.

Don't know how you play this game honestly. Even if I had a machine close to me, without the internet connection I would probably only have like a 50% urge to play it regularly. Now with internet on the other hand, I'd probably play like everyday like the V3 days.

just a heads-up for you, a car at full spec would feel really different as compared to a car EVEN when it's at spec 5 halfway through. that said, I wouldn't try to get used to the physics yet when the car hasn't been fully tuned. derp.gif

Got a few games in today for tuning, nothing major. Is there a final tune option for which motors you want? For example turbo, na, supercharged?

Yeah we've been discussing at the arcade how the car feels so much different going from spec to spec. Even now I'm 1 or 2 into Spec 5 and it handles nothing like I thought it would from watching videos.

people have been going around speculating which engine is the better one. but honestly, I feel that it makes no difference.

Don't know about D8 but in previous games there's very little difference between them.

Posted by: Falbere Oct 17 2014, 02:59 AM
Also note you would need to be like, 7-8 upgrades into SPEC 5 to feel like the online video kind.

Sega just replaced regular character part spins with some exclusive character slot items temparately. Looking to try my luck tomorrow and see maybe if I can get a cowboy hat or something.

Last week I got beaten by an E2 guy with 100+. Maybe in a few days will start making my first EXP card if i have money. Still consider whether want to get D.net or not.

Still in the process of tuning my rotary babies. Only at Spec 2 for my FC. Quite slow but I'll get there slowly. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I wanna know how to choose the option to add character parts?

Other than that, its just FT-ing and completing the missions and back to online and TAs.

Sega Club Akihabara. Just created a JPN card for souvenirs sake since it's cheap to make a card here (half the price of the going rate in Malaysia in fact).

Even fought and lost to a guy in Singapore too.

When you play, you will slowly fill up a "MYCHARA Gauge", when you fill it up you will spin for a character parts

Got a few more upgrades left in S5 still. Got to battle another player with a card (which is kinda rare considering not many know how to navigate menus yet). He had an S2 FC against my S5 2D86, picked Iro and he wanted boost off laugh2.gif so I destroyed him by 300m. awesome.gif

Upgraded two cards from D7 today. Played some online matches and upgraded the cars a bit. Lost a few battles to players which I suspect we're using much higher tuned cars and a few close ones that were probably near me tuning wise.

I really like the fact that the Character Bar is back to Single Online Battle again.

Still in the process of tuning. Its so painstaking but one thing I find unique about the TeamSide option is that now it can either continue to the story or it will be a TA or Online battle.

It adds that element of surprise and I was shocked at first as to why I was brought to the online search for an opponent when I was just a peasant trying to tune a car (still at Spec 4 dammit) and have to battle with a Spec 3 FC at that time. Kinda unfair, but it adds that challenge to it. Other than that, still otw there.

You do realise that those are actually computer players, not real online opponents...

[ Post made via Mobile Device ]

Posted by: Falbere Oct 21 2014, 01:58 AM
Yes, they are not real players. There are some dead giveaways. For example: bots always have brake lights on before the battle starts, and secondly, when you pull away from an opponent far enough, you will realise he will be in this rubber-band advantage meter, always -149.9m to -150.1m

I'm two upgrades from full tune. Will try to go and knock those out and start time attacking today.

Crap.. I didn't know that up till now. Thanks for the info smile.gif

Played TeamSide like a maniac today spilling the water everywhere just to quickly tune up my car. Still at Spec 5 and quite some time before FT.

I just find it a bit difficult when BA-ing or BC-ing as the speed drops down considerably even at this higher spec. I need more time to adjust myself and to quickly get my cars up to form because Im feeling a bit weird when I see people beside me in the arcade with most of the missions completed and higher ranks.

You know, I wonder why Sega have those mock online battles in TeamSide? I mean they even give away free games when you win assuming your operator turns I it on. I like it but it's just.....strange. Even have a location and all that. They seriously trying to pass it as an online battle?

Even if your operator turns it off, it's still 3 max wins and the wins doesn't count as wins for online battle, it's considered as story mode one round only haha. The location of the mock online battle, doesn't exist in any part of Japan. LOL neither does the AI in it.

Finally reach Full Spec! Now.....I need to research videos because I still have no idea how to play this game or more specifically each courses. Still just winging it. Sometimes BC, sometimes BA.......sometimes press both.

Also realize you can press brake while running a straight line AND STILL INCREASE SPEED, LOL.

Man, wish I can use Nagao in Online Battle but it would be awhile before it's unlocked I guess. I certainly never expected Iro Reverse to be my home course in any Initial D game ever....and yet it is for now.

I don't think it's this light though, then again I rarely tried doing that a lot then because the brakes then are super strong when not pressing accel.

Got my R34 FTd and visually modded day before last, and spent yesterday TAing and cleaning up my Story Mode clears. Only ones I've got left is the RivalSide as Sudou vs Takumi and the RivalSide as God Foot vs Keisuke. Looking forward to the next set of story levels after that. Also used the accumulated points to tune my NSX to part way through Spec 3.

No times to report yet as I'm still getting used to BA and BC.

Posted by: NBK Oct 23 2014, 11:01 AM
Full tuned. Some TA and battles here and there but nothing fancy to report. This game gets harder the more I play it, I can't BA/BC at all what so ever. Feels so slow. facepalm.gif

Ran a 2'48'5xx on Usui CCW in my R34 which would be the 17th fastest R34 time. I can definitely do much better as well. I'm terrible at the double hairpins, and I smacked hard on the last turn, so I'll definitely get faster. Not bad for first week FullSpec though. My NSX is halfway through Spec 5 as well.

Still couldn't get InfinitySide unlocked though.

Infinity side can only be unlocked after another 4 chapters unlocked in another patch which only available via Sega online connections. Hence without patch one can only go until the Imitation project D chapter.

No comment on R34 handling, I'm only doing a 43" using Sil80 and S13 and a 44" with 86. What I suggest is you might wanna use a better handling car to get used to the game first upon mastering the game only move on to hard handling cars.

Posted by: Pasta Oct 23 2014, 06:59 PM
Nah, I work the opposite way. I start with the most difficult cars, then when I move to easier cars, it's like taking off the training weights. I mained the R34 in Ver. 3 as well. I'm pretty positive I could run a 45 with a little more practice. I had a couple runs where I was minus up to 1.5 seconds on each lap, just couldn't put it all together.

As for Infinity Side, that's depressing. sad.gif

I watched videos where people play Nagao DH without using Brake Accel but I couldn't really do it when I try.

Specifically some of the tight corner sections of CP1 and 2. CP3 and 4 is mostly easy and barely need any brakes but I'm curious how people do it. I tried using BCs on the early sections but couldn't get it to work well. Need to work on this.

SonicSP, I assume BA is stepping on the brakes and gas separately?

if you want to go with that BA approach, it's do-able. you'd probably have to step on the brakes longer and release it at the correct timing.

^No, that's BC I guess? Been experimenting a bit on that place today.

Played a lot this week, much more than I planned. This game sure has a high learning curve. Confidence is low after today (played badly in a lot of runs)but will keep trying. I think need to work a lot on lining and entering angles.

Trying to access the tabulated ranking databases to find out what car to get next for my main card since I'm accumulating excess points but couldn't access RP-TAKI and couldn't find any other ones for now.

Posted by: Falbere Oct 25 2014, 03:25 AM
Played events mode today. Didn't really liked the background reward, so i aimed for stickers. It was quite easy on my main card, because i have my car full-tuned. But the suprise is it is also easy for my spec 4 fc on my alt(E3).

Just hope the reward cut-off doesn't go up to 4200.

EDIT: oh and one more thing, RIP Timezone Arcade (Tampines). Last day of operation 2 Nov 2014

EDIT 2: Damn the reward gone beyond 4200. Only got sticker for my main card :/

^That's unfortunate. I always feel sad when I hear arcades close down.

I got an RX-8 today and it's not as fun to drive as it was in D7. sad.gif

Posted by: SonicSP Oct 28 2014, 04:51 AM
Arcade got online problems today. Even managed to fight a full online battle with COM because of this, but sad that they eject the card straight without giving option to even choose other modes or insert more coins. I rather not eject since it kills the card faster.

Still got long way to go before reach but can't wait to get to B3 so I'll finally have Nagao unlocked. I miss online battling there.

I ran 3'10 on akina in my R34 tonight. Not the greatest time, but a definite improvement, and some of my individual turns in certain runs were really fast, so I think an all clean run could get me 3'05 or lower. I'm still really bad the hairpins though, especially in this car.

Btw, in this version the gutter run is definitely required to get good times. Using gutters, you don't even have to brake, bc or ba whatsoever...

Try using them whenever possible.

No, I know. I got the chicane section before RHOD down pretty good, and typical exit RHOD at 150 ish. But getting the R34 into the gutters of the hairpins is HARD. Especially anything after the first one.

I did actually, they were only there for like 20-30 seconds. I even spent some time trying to see whether I knew them, cos I wouldn't expect strangers to act like that. It was just more shocking than anything else. It probably helps that Iro Reverse is one of my two home courses (I'll have three when I unlock Nagao DH soon) and I was given the ability to choose course for this battle.

But it was Halloween I guess, so there's that. Never had it happen to me before, arcade or no arcade.

Thanks. I didn't know there was IDAS8 already when I went to the mall last week. Played it without any homework done. Lol.

Only after that that I read those pages you linked. So I went to the arcade again...

But can't remember everything, so there it went. Played like a complete noob again. XD

Getting a hang of it now. Story mode is kinda confusing, with the all the Japanese conditions I can't read. Suddenly online battled 3 people (probably just CPU dummies) in a row when I thought I was gonna race Takeshi. >.< Shocked a little since I hardly tuned.

Edit: Just realized they were really dummies. Lol

By the way, what is your region?
It would be cool to see if there are any more players in Singapore.

I forgot my 4-digit pin yesterday, went ahead to reset it.
Now i am blocked out of d net for 10 days T.T

Considering to go for the ID.net since it gives me the impression that I can tune and modify my cars and whatnot. But I don't have points left. Still in tuning process. pinch2.gif

Got to B3 finally and finally now can use Nagao. Also switched to Auto today for personal reasons, I'm liking it so far. I think it downshifts only one gear now so that's cool.

Been very lucky my on my rank up battles, haven't lost one in awhile. Bought some D-Coins to prevent drop in points and so far haven't had to use any yet. Now not sure what I'll use them for.

Improved my R34 Akina time from 3'10"0xx to 3'09"2xx, but was +2.3 seconds on the 4th cp on when I ran it. Also, after this run, I beat my first cp by 1.5 seconds, so I can definitely see a 3'05 in the near future, which is currently top 3 for the model.

Posted by: SonicSP Nov 13 2014, 07:49 AM
Recently, I bought a FD3S to try out. It has since replaced my 3-door AE86T as my main car. It's so nice and comfortable to drive, and I'm slightly faster in it than in my Trueno.

Also, started to encounter a lot of people using the recently buffed cars today in online battles. Didn't see that much yesterday. Saw two RX-8s today whereas previously I've seen only one the entire time I played.......

Have gotten a lot more spirited after having access to Nagao. The struggle to get to B3 had been worth it and it's been very fun ever since.

Ran 3'03'456 in the R34 on Akina DH. This is 3rd palce for the Model Record, and only missed 2nd place by .050 seconds. Also note how much I'm plus on my 2nd CP. With as sloppy as this run was, I can see a potential sub 3'00 run in the future.

D8 Rank Up Logic:

- Choose to fight at home course and lost since opponent was three seconds faster than me (he was good).

- Got challenged to Akina Snow and won on my first time playing the course in D8 (in any mode) laugh2.gif

===========

Well good for me I guess. The FD3S has been serving me well, I really like it. This is the first time I've bought and used one since I played IDAS.

I just wish it has the modern Mazda logo like the FD3S6 and RX-8. I love the current Mazda logo so it bothered me after I noticed it.

Got to A3 the other day. Slowly making my way up the bar. I don't know what courses to focus TA on aside from improving my main course. I'm curious where would be my limit since SHINN also cannot get past S3.

Also full tuned my AE86T2 on my second card. I keep it on auto while leaving my FD3S on manual. I've gotten some valuable personal data that I have used to improved my manual time.

Reaching S3 is ok for now. But maintaining at S3 is a whole different level. Possibly in like one more month reaching SS3 would be ok, assuming the current S moves on to SS and current SS moves on to infinity. It's been like this since July, previously it's even impossible to stay at A. So as time goes on, the higher up will move on and lower one moves up. Observing the trend so far, and there's a new method to play for now, a map which can make both side wins only if opponent cooperates with you and your pace, otherwise you can forget it. And so far only 10% of opponent actually cooperates with you by choosing the map and another problem is whether you can keep up with them is also a problem. Wouldn't want to leak out too much here. cool.gif

@SonicSP Actually, there are sound changes to all the 3 options for 86s. Supercharger and Turbocharger gives a turbo "tsch" flutter everytime you let go of the gas, or shift. The NA option makes the engine sound more high pitched.

Turbo option is the only one that will add an exhaust backfire though.

There's actually 50 parts for you to store in your account, simply just store them then only scrap your car. Reapply them when you're done.

Posted by: Falbere Nov 22 2014, 10:09 PM
^true.

you have to store the parts before scrapping the car.

1. Go to dnet > garage > "change exterior parts" for the car you want to scrap
2. Select all the parts in the "parts installed" category
3. Click change
4. Click OK. (This is the part where i forgot to do always. So remember to click ok or nothing will be saved)

To get the parts back just do reverse.

Also remember, stickers cannot be stored.

Gave my RX-8 a spin today. Haven't been using it much but I find it to be fairly competitive with my FD3S and AE86T in Time Attack so I'm pleasently surprised.

Unfortunately, it probably will be the first car I scrap while I try out some other new cars on the card. I've got enough for like one and the half FT cars at the moment.

Sometimes it's a matter of luck, since the only battle that counts is the Rank Up battle. Getting the course selection and an opponent that is not 500-win troll would help things s bit. Sometimes it goes your way, sometimes it doesn't.

So, today I had my D1 card jump straight to A3 after I got lucky and beat someone by 200 meters at Iro UH. Personally didn't expect that to happen. Was hoping to work at the lower levels a bit but hey it's kinda rare so it's nice to get. I'd probably would have thought it was a bug if I didn't read about it here first.

I wish I got a glimpse of the rank meter when it happened though. Someone came up to me and asked a question so I was a distracted by that. Then suddenly saw and got shocked that my next opponent was A3 with many wins.

Coincidently, my first opponent after the rank up challenged me to my home course that I use at higher rankings and I managed to win that one. That doesn't happen very often but I guess its because its not represented in the win records.

Posted by: Falbere Dec 2 2014, 05:57 AM
Hmm, interesting. So now we know a special rank-up can occur without losing your opponent for 500m.

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 2 2014, 06:15 AM
Yeah, as I was approaching the end of the race I actually thought a little bit about this. I knew about the 500 meters thing and my thoughts came to this special rank up. It wasn't near 500
meters so I didn't think it was going to happen.

Finally I've decided to make a D8 transfer today in Cheras Central, that's also means my inactivity in IDA is now officially over after nearly 10 months. I've also had to cross my fingers twice for 2 different things: 1. Hopefully it's online (checked); 2. Hopefully that my transfer is successful (checked).

My D7 card rank is A1, so my title of this transfer:

I immediately bought the D.net service subscription after my transfer is finished. (I kinda a fool :/) And of course I had to start all over again, since D8 is completely new to me.

It costed me for RM48 (21 for the transfer, 15 for D.net, 9 for few plays and 3 for a new car)

I'll probably back on next Friday, but depends on HP Mid Valley is reopened or not.

I lost as Hojo Rin for about 10 times to Ryosuke in RS episode (Kaori arc), right before Bunta's race. Is there a trick to win that guy? The best I could do was barely head to head with him in the finishing line, with him winning, of course. pinch2.gif

I've full-gassed throughout the whole race including at the corners, with minor gas release to control cornering (216-217kmph) but I still can't catch up. I didn't hit any wall either.

What's the deal with this race? Can anyone enlighten me?

The 'practice' on Hakone allowed me to win my promotion race to D3, though. Lol.

Well first off I will assume the machine works properly. Now, from my experiences each course has its own way for approaching corners. For example I can't BA on Akina well but I can do it fine on Myogi. Same style used, same amount of presses, still can't BA on Akina.

I think each course has its own "physics" if you will. Just find a course and adapt to it I guess.

First off, check Accel/Brake inputs to see whether they work properly but I assume you've probably already done this.

I think it's a matter of practice. BC isn't as widely effective as it was in D7/D6 (as in you can't use them everywhere anymore) and timing is very important for BA. But as Okami said, different corners have different ways of tackling them. What works in one corner may not be work in another one.

Also you may want to check the technique and check the timing for the BA since it needs to be done really quickly. I suggest checking out the videos of the course you want to use to know whether you'll need to use BA or BC.

Also note that sometimes pressing brake and Accel alternatively very very quickly is a viable drifting technique too. But as mentioned, it doesn't work on all corners. If you could tell us what course you're thinking of playing or are playing a lot, we may be able to help you out further.

In the recent update, in conjunction to changes mentioned by SHINN above I think Sega has also reduced the amount of points loss whenever you lose a rank up battle. I'm playing my lower ranked cards and I notice that the drop is a lot less than what it used to be. Haven't tried this at B or higher but at E, D and C it's not dropping as much compared to pre-update. I'm guessing Sega changed it to make it a lot harder to troll at lower ranks now.

If you could tell us what course you're thinking of playing or are playing a lot, we may be able to help you out further.

well, i play mostly akina DH and tsukuba OB. I tried BC/BA on akagi DH and it works pretty well, same myogi too.

im driving AE86T currently and wouldn't want to buy a new car until i've mastered either BC/BA. Oh. and it works damn well for me using BC in tsukuba anyways. I just don't get why BC/BA doesn't work in many parts of akina.

Yeah, sega trying to discourage people from purposely staying at a low rank for easy wins. Now when I lose a E2 rank up battle, I only have to lose/win once to try the rank up battle another time.

Well, it is often heard about people saying it is hard to rank up in 8 compared to 7, because you cannot rank up instantly, also you cannot rank up from in-stores.

But I guess now it is slightly easier to rank up now.

Meh, still can't win Ryosuke on Hakone despite that braking trick.

Asked some of the regulars there to race it for me. Also lost.

Encountered some Japanese trolls with 400-500 wins too. Damn it.

Posted by: Falbere Dec 12 2014, 08:53 PM
I believe the braking trick is not the reason he won. I'm trying to tell you the point of force overtake.

Lol yeah. The guy on YouTube also won that race without using the brake thing in another video.

Damn, it's hard. I've never been trolled this hard by the CPU before (except by Bunta Challenges from 10 stars and above in IDAS3).

Additional info, so far as of now there's 3 places I know with shitty connections where you will always get error 8303 in red while looking for opponent in online battle/event/tag battle.

1. SGP Vivocity (last visit was last month November 10th)
2. IND 3 places (News from Indonesia teammates)
3. MYS Holiday Planet Mid Valley

Sadly local technician have been scratching head on dealing with this problem and even gave up. If you happen to visit these places, do expect bad connections. wwwwww

^Yeahhhh, I'm dissapointed with the HPMV connection issues. I guess it's machine related since these are the same machines from HPSP, which has had the issue for years. It's a shame though cos the technician did a great job fixing the machines. New wheels, new seats cushions and card readers giving out new cards normally. It's like the best IDAS machines I've seen, maybe minus new LCD screens on the two CYC Sunway machines.

I talked to the technician about it yesterday, showed him a picture of the error codes (which he wrote on his hand, this guy's super dedicated as usual). I'm not too hopeful especially given what you said, but worth a shot telling him I guess.

Actually it is a good try, the more people aware of this problem and inform the technician, possibly the more tendency the arcade and the technician will work hard on this case.

Sadly Vivocity one is the only one I don't have to travel just to play IDAS8. The closing of Tampines TZ SGP made me play less often, resulting in me playing Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and WMMT5 instead.

Any idea how or what caused 8303? The WMMT5 online ghosts and other ID8 online features (such as uploading screenshots, using D Coin) seems to work without any delay. So it can't possibly slow connection...

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 24 2014, 07:08 AM
8303 refers to a broad lack of connectivity issues I think, which includes the problem we are discussing but also other things. For example, I played today and had two machines with zero online connectivity and it also gave me an 8303, but it's blue and has the word OFFLINE written.

The issue of "hard to get games, but have online" seems to be specified as 6013. The error message is as shows:

I'm not as knowledgable as the internal working as Akii, but probably something network-related that's inside the machine. It's weird though, it's one thing to not find games, it's another to find games and then have it get cancelled.

It's also possible that it IS the actual internet connection to the outside world but I'm finding it less and less likely. SEGA have a relatively high standards of what your internet needs to be before your machine is allowed to go on the Internet. Even if they're delayed ghosts, we ARE playing an online racing game at uninterrupted 60FPS here. So it's possible we have good enough connection for all these other things like D-Coins, but not enough for racing.

Bugis junction included. Damn fucked up and annoyed. Offline then take out card until online. Screw the lives of my card like hell sia -.-

10pm they disallow ppl to play online machines.

Vivocity - me and achc went there together once , i went there to do sth with the black server box and opponent came out at least one ~

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 24 2014, 10:21 PM
In regards to HPMV, it's a little bit inconsistent. I played for a few hours today and there was this 25 minute period where I had zero issues with online battles. But I was there for almost three hours and 25 minutes isn't that long in comparison.

Outside of that period, I could still get online battles but really damn hard and have and it's hard to play other modes while "waiting" for online since the machine would spend three minutes trying to find something before you're allowed to play.

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 26 2014, 06:13 AM
So today's connection at HPMV was good for the two or so hours I was there. I reckon I got lucky this time. There's usually a "phase" associated with it and this can last hours at a time.

==========

A few days ago, one of my other low ranked cards jumped to A3 again. I wasn't too happy with that. It won a race by maybe 280 meters or so at Tsukuba OB. I should have like manipulated or something lol.

Lol... For my low rank cards, I purposely keep the distance a minimum because I fear for special rank up to A3, even though people had told me distance doesn't matter -.-

So far it's been easy for me in D1, but never thought my home course is now myogi hillclimb. It's always been akagi previously.

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 26 2014, 11:40 AM
Yeah I'm doing it because the two times I did got the rank up were after huge unusual wins. Might as we'll play it safe I guess.

Still there's a part of me that wants to see it happen again, if only because I actually missed how the upgrade happened. Both times I realize only after the next matchup was beginning.

Probably will start pushing one of the cards further above A3. It's about time I guess but I also want to train other courses in battle. I'm too reliant on Nagao DH at the A3 level.

I guess many people don't realise the jump because it's just so 'silent'. when I jumped to A3, all there was to notify me was that little pop-up message box with no sounds or flashy animations to go along with. and the next thing I knew, I was at A3. laugh2.gif

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 26 2014, 10:20 PM
^Maube that's it. I'm not even sure how it happens. Usually when I noticed it it's because my next opponent is A3.......which usually gives me a heart attack for the first second or so.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrMdd0nRSuo

I was recording for my friends the other day when I happened to capture a jump rank from E3 to A3 after the card's first 3 wins. it's in the link above, skip to 3:40 if you don't plan to watch the whole thing.

for your info, all the 3 wins were at least over 1km in distance advantage. so I guess we can arguably assume that distance plays a part in the jump. laugh2.gif

P.S IF you are watching the whole thing, do watch in 720p60 for the best viewing quality!

Posted by: SonicSP Dec 29 2014, 05:15 AM

Tried out Hakone and Momiji today since we recently got the 1.2 +B update. Hakone is actually pretty fun and less boring than I thought it would be. Reminds me of WMMT driving. Momiji is pretty fun and I definitely want to learn it since the R34 is the course car for uphill.

Also, continuing on past Tsukuba in story mode made me realize just how difficult of a track Nanamagari is, especially for a car like the R34. Gonna have to put in some serious study time for that one.

Mentioned course cars do have their advantages in some way or another: starting acceleration, better handling or favorable penalty if you hit the wall. We can related some of the course cars to the anime; character's car and their respective home courses

Don't forget, time attackers are also aiming for 1st in model rank as well (Silver Shield). Therefore a variety of cars in the top list

Any ideas, guys?

As already mentioned, you'll need to get it reprinted because the machine that last printed your card is not working well. You'll need to level up your rank at a machine with a printer that can print the number.

The only way to get a machine to reprint your card in D8 is to rank up. Down rank works too but that's literally impossible to do for lower ranked cards; and also not that easy to do at most higher ranks.

It's the machine printer's problem. You would need to level up once on a machine that can print. Only then the license number shows up, with your username and the level.

That's what happened to me too when I started out. smile.gif

As a good practice, it's always a good idea to write down your ID number somewhere. This is because a bad printer can always wipe it away if you rank up/rank down on one. I've had mine erased by a printer a few times, so I just rely on my notes for the ID number so I won't lose access to my account.

Yeah. Half of my time spent on trying to FT is on spec 1- spec 4.
The other half of the time is spent spec 5 to full spec.

Really painful process.

Don't worry, just keep at it. It was really really hard at first for me too for this version. "How the hell do you drift??!!" "How they press pedal so fast ah?"

In fact, I think the learning curve is a bit higher than usual this time around.

Posted by: Falbere Jan 9 2015, 12:19 AM
Entered my RX-7 for the Happogahara drift event today. And wow I was surprised there were only 14 drift turns.
I don't know why there is this one corner I just randomly smashed the pedals and got 1000+points for a single turn, never able to replicate it again.

Guess I won't be getting the background once again. Only gonna have stickers.

Posted by: SonicSP Jan 9 2015, 01:19 AM
I tried once and went "Yeah I'm just gonna go push for A1". It's really hard to drift there. I was thinking of buying a Cappu for drift events but given how badly I did, I thought it wasn't worth the effort; least not for this one.

Also, today was a strange day. I get the feeling that there's not as many players in the pool as usual. I encountered people that were different ranks than me maybe four times and not the usual "just one rank up or down" type either. Even encountered one guy twice in four matches.

Had a chance to go A1 but lost the rank up battle against a S3 fellow.

Posted by: SonicSP Jan 15 2015, 09:18 PM
Played online battle today and had two of my opponents chose "random course".

That had never happened to me before. Ever.

Hi all,

last step to FT my ae862D, seems there are 3 options, seeing the logo contain 3 pictures made me want to know more about the final FT options , is it the same like ae86 trueno? which are Turbo, NA engine and i forgot the last one...

anybody can give me suggestion?

thank you

Posted by: SonicSP Jan 17 2015, 09:37 AM
I think first is turbo, not sure about the the other two.

Don't worry about it too much. There's extremely little difference in performance, the big difference is just sound so choose the sound you like the most. Also if you don't like your choice, you can always re-buy the car again. You'll get it full tune straight away and make the selection of which final upgrade you want.

I believe it's (not in order) bolt on turbo, supercharger, NA Balance

Also, they did fix the blow off sound on the 2door, right? I recall someone saying in 7aax being bugged.

Posted by: -=SHINN=- Jan 19 2015, 05:13 PM
From what I noticed it is in order, from left to right, Turbo, Supercharger and NA, as you've mentioned.

and it is always possible to switch to one another regarding whether it is offline or online when you scrap it and buy back again, so technically speaking you can have 3 same cars with 3 different engines in your garage. cool.gif

I just learned something about myself recently, I'm actually reliant on my tachometers for my lining.

No, not the info on the meters but literally the meters to measure my lining and I never realized this consciously.

I use the Wide tachometers, which is the one with the circle tachometer and speedometer in the middle of the screen. The other day I unlocked the D7 tachometer and tried it out on Tsubaki Line DH.

It was a complete disaster. I was seven seconds behind my best time or so and usually I average maybe one second plus behind. There was also a strange feeling of emptiness in the middle, like something I needed.

Whenever I start a new card, I'm always forced to use the default meter but it's not an issue because the physics are so different. I would have unlocked the Wide meter by the time full tuned the car. I guess this is why I never noticed it.

It depends I guess. Personally I think once you factor in the auto speed loss when turning they handle mostly the same. I take into account the natural speed loss when drifting at lower specs so I don't notice much difference in the handling. The speed loss by itself means that they're easier to handle.

I think the conception that they handle better is because they're slower so there's more room to react and you don't go through the corners as fast.

Unlike D7, I never found the mid-tune physics change in D8 to be as jarring since it happens more gradually and naturally. In D7, the physics change pretty fast around the last box of Spec 4.

Ran the 11th fastest R34 Myogi UH time the other day. I'm still messing up the final hairpin pretty badly, but if I get it right I could shave probably at least two seconds off my time, and the triple hairpins in the 3rd section are messing me up a bit too. The easiest way I've found so far to get through them is to pop into 5th on the corner before the first hairpin, which gets me through them at an average of 150-152. If I could figure out a method to get through there in 6th, I could probably save a second or two there as well, so I'm looking at a top 10, possibly top 5 spot pretty easily.

It's okay already haha can any1 teach me how to BA? Thn the steps to BA? I can only trigger it like some times

Posted by: SonicSP Mar 11 2015, 06:00 PM
While holding brake, tap accel a few times, then release both. Preferably done very quickly.

Note that tapping accel more isn't necessrily better for a given corner since that may prevent your car from sliding more into the drift angle you want. You'll have to make your own judgement on how many taps you want to do for any given corner.

It's also not usable or optimal at all corners, which means that you shouldn't try to tackle all corners with BA.

Posted by: Robert Mar 11 2015, 06:42 PM
Thanks! What about BC??

Posted by: OkamiWind Mar 11 2015, 06:51 PM
Brake Canceling is when while holding down the accelerator you quickly let go of it, tap the brake quickly, and press the accelerator again. This is done in very quick succession and can be chained twice, also called Double BC.

As SonicSP said, like BA, BC is useful in some corners more than others. It's all about experimenting.

Posted by: SonicSP Mar 11 2015, 07:28 PM
There are a few other techniques that I can think off that I use:

- When about to enter a corner: Hold brake, then hold accel, then release both when entering the drift.

- Alternate tap accel and brake many times.

You can play around with the accel and brake quite a lot in this game to achieve many different combination compared to the last two games; a lot more than what's been mentioned. There are even techniques I see in videos that I can't even begin to understand how it works. There's also no one technique unlike the last two games.

This game has a higher learning curve compared to the last two at the beginning so it can feel a bit hard and overwhelming at first.

And here's a personal tip of mine: playing auto greatly help me learn the footwork more for some reason since I can spend all my mental capacity on the footwork and wheel to experiment without worrying about the gears.

But if you want the answer to what a strong car is, anything with "AE86" is the simple answer.

Hey guys, I need some help to decipher the license number on my card:

*Edited: problem solved.*

Posted by: -=SHINN=- Mar 12 2015, 09:39 PM
Why would you need to log in when you don't have dnet to change any of your account settings? Besides I doubt you'll be able to log in for the first time without dnet+4 number code from the machine or unless you gotten dnet and log in before just that it expires. All the more you should have a picture of your card during E3 with log in codes on it. This is what I always do, find a machine with full printing capability and create a card or renew everytime and take a picture of it, to prevent tragedy like yours.

To solve your problem, just get a month dnet to get it reprint. And if it doesn't works, go to another machine get a month dnet again. You can try this a maximum of 3 times until your dnet hits 99 days. Good luck.

Haha yup there's a way not to jump. I transferred this card from my D7 Ulti(max) online battle & Special + tag battle. Apparently you'll just have to manipulate the winning distance to less than 50m just before you win and everything will be fine.

At my 100th win, I just reach A3, so 100th match is just nice at A3 promotional if not jump.

Good luck.

I've always thought that we must log in using that 4 digit code to set up our accounts before actually subscribing. Hmmm...

That card is my secondary card. Bought it just a couple of weeks ago from the same machine. It printed perfectly fine on my first card few months ago but it printed the way it did as displayed. So I never got the number from the start. I would have taken a photo of it if I did, obviously. Lol. Expected it to be fixed by the time I got the A3 jump, but...

It's an interesting idea about using the subscription to reprint it, SHINN. I appreciate it. Thanks.

The 4 digits was only meant to be use for the first time log in, I believe it has an expiry date too. However if you do not subscribe and log in for the first time, you can only change to your own password and check your progress on the game only, without having any other dnet functions available for you to play around with.

After you get dnet, and you log in again with the password you set, you will be asked to set a PIN number for card recovery just in case if you lost your card or decide to let other people in other country to recover your card. That will come in handy. Aside from that, I believe everyone knows what dnet feature has.

Well I think I mentioned this before about how to reprint, might wanna recall back also.
1. Level down can reprint
2. Level up can reprint
3. Add on dnet can reprint
4. Renew card can reprint
5. Recover card can reprint (after 3 days of entering into recovery mode)
6. Change driver name can reprint
7. Brining your change driver name card to offline (might be able to reprint to your base driver name if play one time)
