| Interesting, judging by the inclusion of Mako and Sayuki and the race between Nakazato and Keisuke on Myougi (which I guess will also include the Kenta vs Takumi race) in the trailer, I'm guessing this means they're going to follow the route of First Stage rather than the manga where (as far as I remember) the Impact Blue and Myougi races take place after the race between Takumi and Ryosuke. |

| Without Shigeno's input, the series has gone nowhere since 2013, and Avex shows no interest in even giving it a proper burial via decent Bluray sets. The arcade game is not getting a new version. There is no special edition of the manga being released. Initial D is no longer being made, plain and simple. You get this movie, and the second atrocious Chinese one, and that's it. |

You never know what might happen, I am sure none of us expected a movie trilogy. I personally expected a Battle Stage 3, which clearly hasn't happened; plus it was earlier http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2015-01-07/fans-vote-for-the-seinen-manga-series-that-most-deserve-a-sequel/.83007 that fans voted Initial D the series they think deserve a sequel. Maybe if Shigeno gets bored with that https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=48114&view=findpost&p=1323896 he's working on he might go back to Initial D, it's his magnum opus, and unless he plans to retire (judging by him working on new stuff, I think he has no plans to retire just yet!) I doubt he'll make another series that is anywhere near as popular as Initial D. |

| The trilogy actually made sense as it was announced as the anime was coming to a close. It wasn't predicted, but it also wasn't surprising considering the age of the series. Shigeno almost certainly won't come back to Initial D because there's not much left to do. He used up most of his plot ideas two years before the series ended. Any tricks or techniques used in races have been dried up. There's nothing else he could write that wouldn't cross the line into "this is fucking stupid" territory... again. There's a reason people started laughing at the series after the events of Fourth Stage, wings and ghosts and all. |

True, but he could always do a spin off, maybe focus on a new set of characters, but that's wishful thinking considering I can't really name a manga that has done that except maybe what they're doing with Naruto now. |

| That new 86 has gotten me very interested haha Anyways looks like it's going to be another awesome movie. Watched the second on the weekend and loved it. Can't get over the animation, i wish they remade stage 1-3 in that animation! |

I don't think they're gonna deviate from canon by an inch Bozz man; I think they're gonna faithfully recreate what's left of the story... I can't even recall what part in the story Mako & Sayuki are in? But if it's there, then they'll probably add a bit of screen time, but not enough to shift the focus off the main battle between the FC and the 86. That Toyota 86 is completely fan-pandering advertising to get the old crowd like us, well at least the ones in Japan, Hong Kong, and other parts where it's screening, to go watch the movie... but I can almost guarantee the T86 won't get more than 5 minutes of action. They entirely nip/tucked all of the eurobeat from these films, and made a condensed version of Initial D, albeit with better animation depending on who you're asking; so I doubt any of the quirky lovable little nuances that made us awe and glee while watching the TV show, will be in the movies. The trailer shows a more embellished Takumi and Ryosuke, with a flair for melodrama. It's gonna be good I think... just on a completely different level. |

They've already deviated a little bit, the lead up to the match with Shingo, Itsuki not having bought his 85 (he buys it after the Nakazato race) are the first ones that come to mind after watching Legend 2; plus why have Mako and Sayuki appear in the movie (judging by the trailer) if their role is going to just be a cameo. |

Ahh yeps, they probably will have the Sil-Eighty battle(s)? then, as a sort of filler to beef up the time-slots in the movie though to lead up to the main event. The T86, I still can't say I'd keep my hope ups though... but it's still a possibility.  |

I kind of feel like it's a given that there will be a filler race in Legend 3 before the race with Ryosuke; I just can't see the movie just being totally about that one race, heck Legend 2 had 3 races. |

It should be Bunta, testing prototype to help out Subaru/Toyota engineers with final suspension setting! Race against Takumi is the best way to do this. But, since there is no ashtray in GT86, it probably isn't him.  |

| By including a GT86, they are saying that the series' biggest threats, Keisuke and Ryosuke, are driving 20+ year old cars, because it places the series in 2012 at the very earliest. By 2012, an FD is hardly seen as a contender for "scary fast car". The GT-R had already been out for 5 years trumping almost everything on the JDM market by then. I don't think they thought this one entirely through, but then again, neither did Shigeno. It's just fanwank. | Well, if you're talking about Ikeda's Z, the 350Z, that thing first came out in 2002, which lines up with the release dates of a lot of other "newer" cars that appear in Initial D (R34 V-Spec II Nür, S2000, EVO VI/VII, NSX, S15, NB Miata). |

Oh shnaps, good question~! I gotta brush up on my kanji to stop my head from spinninng and actually make out what it was about. XD Nomake can probably help, his Nipponese is 100-fold better than mine. <3 I have a feeling the GT86 was shoe-horned once again like the TV show; the optimistic part of me wants to say it's a full battle, but the realist at the tip of my brow keeps telling me it's just a 5 minute scene tops~ Falberu's probably gonna go watch in theatres if Golden Cinemas air it like they did the last two at the Singapore movie court. Falberu should grab some of the IDW donation cash to go watch the film & write up a summary~ |

| From what I've read, it's mostly dialog and only one battle. Sileighty race doesn't happen, but the girls are watching the big race against Ryosuke. GT86 is in the movie for all of a few minutes and it's a Third Stage result where we're never told who wins that race. Honestly, I haven't heard much of anything besides the same sort of reviews Legend 2 received: "it was okay, I guess." |

So true Tess... They could always go the AnimEigo route and release the rest with plain subtitles though. It's not that hard to put out a couple of Blu Rays on a Best Buy/Walmart shelf, let alone Amazon where actual-physical anime is the most alive. No need to market it or dub it either. I just want 3rd and 4th re-released on BD, then 5th and Final as well. 1st, 2nd, and the films can go burn in an HKS exhaust for all I drift~ ^^; |

Funimation doesn't license series' for "sub only" release, last I checked. There might be a few stragglers in their library, though. Even if they went that route, where's the money? Subs for Fifth and Final Stages have been out for years, on this very site among others. There are countless uploads on Youtube. It's everywhere except officially on shelves for purchase. Who would pay money besides the die-hard enthusiasts, when you've been able to see it free of charge for so many years? Running with that ball, why would Funimation invest in licensing if they already have a poor financial outlook for the series in the US market? Would they even come close to recouping the costs of bringing it here? I mean, look at how quickly they yanked the original sets from shelves and replaced them with the SAVE editions. No bueno. Nobody even gave enough of a shit to try and revive the license for the manga after Tokyopop lost it. What does that tell you about Initial D's marketing success? Two companies tried and failed to bring it here. No sane company will try for a triple unless they can seriously lowball Kodansha and/or manufacture it on the extreme cheap. We're talking "late 80's US anime market" cheap standards of quality. 2.0 audio! Shitty aspect ratio! VHS master source! |

| I enjoyed it. Ending sets up the potential for more, covering Project D but who knows. The GT86 is interesting though. I bet it's Takumi just older and he's just reliving old memories. At the end of all this I can see it cut back to present day Takumi in a race team somewhere with a GT86 as his daily. |

I remember wondering about that same thing when I was going through Third Stage all those years ago. It was the same thing in the original series. He's kind of vague about it at that point, but he's trying to balance his racing ambitions with his destiny of becoming a doctor. Shame the upload got pulled down on YouTube! Glad I caught it on there when I did, the fansubs were awesome and I really enjoyed the added humor here and there. Also really loved the entire Legend series with the more concise re-imagining of First Stage. The cameo of Takumi's original voice actor in the GT86 was a nice touch as well. Echoing what a lot of people say, I'd love to see another series or miniseries focusing on Bunta during his reign as No. 1 racer in Akina (or all of Gunma, whatever they decided). Unlikely, but I'd watch that in a heartbeat. |

Definitely a 'Go Watch'. Though it is a retelling of the first few books in the series, how they fit them into three 1hr films is really well done; graphic well done and good sound altogether. A good way to get the gist of Initial D IMO. |

Oh I see. L3 covers the last part of 1st Stage. But it doesn't have the race against Mako and Sayuki nor the easy battle against Kenta. Some Initial D fans think that the series should have ended on 4th stage. I personally liked all stages, 5th stage was good. The info about Ryosuke's plan and the battle against Shinigami was awesome, imo. Go and watch L3, it has unique material. |

Honestly, I think that subplot was my favorite part of Fifth / Final Stage, and up there for the entire series. It was so well executed and gave some much needed depth to Ryosuke's character. They may have fleshed out other aspects in the manga, but I never really got into that. |

Get it? They're both driving a car, ie. using their hands. It's a play on words in Japanese. I think that was the intention the Avex staff had; a sort of "open invitation" for Shigeno to pick up the story where he left off to pursue other works... They wouldn't have used Miki'shin as the T86 voice actor if they didn't feel it in their bones ~ that Shigeno would restart the Initial D manga in the future... with a future Takumi piloting the new Hachi. |

| Finished the my first wave timing ever on this one. Now I'm tweaking the times, splitting up lines the translator had together(long long lines), editing the English, and placing screen text. I'll have it ready for this Saturday's group watch/edit session. Then I'll make any corrections and probably watch it one more time on Monday to catch anything we might have missed. So hopefully I'll have it up and ready on Wednesday or so next week. |

Yeah, I play too much Guild Wars 2 and drive my Eight-Six around too much to always work on free stuff for them. Not to mention I had to wait until my "lazy" translator could put aside his actual real life work to do all of them the favor of sending me a script with hundreds of lines of dialog. I figured there would be plenty of the leecher mentalities out there who'd say we took long enough. So, without further ado, All us lazy people who worked on Legend 3 would like to thank the leechers and reddit complainers for their help in bringing this release to all of you. Your efforts shined through to make this a quality production. |

Also, the license plate was almost the original numbers from the TV series. The TV series AE86 one was 13-954 while the Fake-86 one was 3-954. Still have no idea why they used different plate numbers in the movies rather than just going with the ones from TV. And here's a funny thing - in the last scene where he starts racing the FT86 they changed his plate number to 3-954 briefly, matching the FT86's plate. Then after the initial meeting on the road, the AE86 plate changes back to 2-674, the one they used during the movies. Oh, and I have also uploaded Version 2 of Legend Movie 2. | Watched the movie on Friday and enjoyed it very much! Also love more screen time for the 86! Wish they actually properly raced! Anyways, nice to think that Takumi actually is driving the new 86 now as his main car |

| I need to watch the last 2 movies still. I really just wish we could get another chance at a good English translation of the manga (because Tokyopop stopped at around chapter 400), a dub of 5 and Final stage, and a nice Blu-ray release. I hope Shigeno would be willing to do like a few short stories here and there for the series, since Avex and the other guys don't seem to want to let Initial D die peacefully. I just wish the rest of the series would get me as happy and excited as Stages 1 and 2 did. Gotta have dat Eurobeat that all of the new stuff seems to be... lacking. |
