So we've all heard about this right? Totally excited for it as a long time FF fan. Anyway, we now have gameplay courtesy of Playstation Experience.

Still ambitiously worded as a timed exclusive. Whether this means XBONE or PC, is yet to be announced.

Anyway, I'm superhype now. I had my doubts, but this is looking amazing so far.

I like the city design and Guard Scorpion. The voice acting could be better and Barret seems alittle off. Also, I hope the turn-based battle system is still retained.

Overall, looks very promising since FFXV hasn't really been on my radar. I'm curious what the Wall Market and Gold Saucer will be like.

No clue about a Japanese option yet, Xiao. (Assuming I read that properly.)

Yeps yeps, I was reading the comments in the video, and there appears to be a little bit of syncing skew with the English lines, which probably suggests their working off of the Japanese trailer~ I think Square Japan will probably release their own version sometime around x-mas...

There is a Japanese trailer, but I don't know about them leaving the original Japanese voices in the English game as an option.

Here you go.

Here's to hoping they tweak the story to not be as fucking convoluted as it was in the original. They did say they were doing something about "new story elements". Maybe fix the existing broken shit, too?

Well, they have a whole series to write into now, maybe it'll help keep them on track.

Also curious to see how they handle the crossdressing. Someone is going to butthurt by the end of this.

YUSSS!!

I shan't be content 'less I hear the best Bob Sapp impersonation this side of Midgar.

I hope this HD crossdressing will propel more teens to engage in such activity... if anything purely for my [censored] pleasure~

They'll probably fix the broken stuff, plus add in a few things that were added in later games. Cloud never really met or interacted with them, but I can see Angeal or Genesis getting mentioned at some point by one of the Shin-Ra goons or Sephiroth.

I'm all for the gameplay though. Turn based combat is dated. I welcome ARPG combat with open arms. If it's anything like FFXV's then it should be pretty good.

As for the voice acting... Square games have always had pretty lackluster voice acting. Besides the KH series, but I'm sure Disney helped get some of those VAs on board. If the FFXV demo is anything to go by, dual audio is a possibility. The demo for that game has both English and Japanese.

I'm glad they went the Final Fantasy 15/Type-0 route with the gameplay. Though I'm wondering if there will be way to play with turn based gameplay. Visuals are fantastic, absolutely stunning though I do hope for a PC port in the future.

I look forward to the near endless grinding to just breed a Gold Chocobo again.

The only real-time combat I experienced was from FFXII and hated it. I wouldn't mind an option to have turn-based combat included but knowing Square, they'll likely go completely one way or the other.

Not sure what to make of the new gameplay style, at first I thought you control one character but it looks like switching characters is seamless. This game, FF XV, the new Ratchet & Clank game and that Ni no Kuni game have pretty much guaranteed that I'll be owning a PS4 sooner rather than later.

Ruby sucks but I've managed to beat it, mostly through luck that it didn't quicksand my trump-card character. I haven't beaten Emerald yet sadly. Also, lol at the PS4 Gameshark. I still have my GameShark module that attached to the back port of the PSX.

I think you got your Roman numerals wrong on that second one lol

That aside, a few hours ago there was a weird press release sent out by Square Enix stating they were going to be doing this game in episodes.

QUOTE
"During this past weekend’s PlayStation Experience in San Francisco, SQUARE ENIX® debuted a new trailer for FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE, the full remake of the award-winning role-playing game, FINAL FANTASY VII. The new trailer features the first CG scenes as well as gameplay footage. FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience."

This was worrisome on a few fronts:

1. What the hell do they mean by multi-part
2. Does this mean it'll be a game sold for $60 but have lots of $10-ish DLC
3. Are they adding Crisis Core and other FF VII games to the remake

Then came more news just by way of Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki:

QUOTE (Takashi Mochizuki @ @mochi_wsj)

and SquareEnix says FF7 Remake's data size so huge; the software will be split into several titles (for example, FF7-Remake 1, FF7-Remake 2)

QUOTE (Takashi Mochizuki @ @mochi_wsj)

and while basic story scenario will remain same, there will be some new scene additions to FFVII Remake, SquareEnix says.

Hopefully more clarification will come up in 2 weeks at the Jump Fiesta event in Chiba.

I personally hope they just release it like the first version of the game, on 3-4 discs.

The numerals were in response to Alastair using the same incorrect numerals.

1. I'll bet 4-5 huge "chapters".
2. Initial price $20, everything else $10-15 each, guessing.

They will eventually bring out a complete version, but they will release the parts for DLC which will cost more money for the buyer.

They are smart about it because they will milk the crap out of this product because it will sell.

Beyond a remake, I don't know where else Square can milk FF7 they already haven't.

I can see them excluding the Gold Saucer from the game and making it a companion app for phones. All of the games, rides and chocobo racing could be freemium games lol...

Removing chocobo racing would fuck the game up.
