I'm just curious what people thought about Mogi? I really hated the beach episode with her and him in season 1, and I just find her and the guy with the Benz a really unnecessary thing to include. I mean you coulda done a love interest I guess, but why have her whoring herself out to a dirty old man in a Benz

Thought?? opinions?? am I just an asshole??

when u say was the mogi side story necessary aren't u also questioning the other love intersts in the anime. i think mogi was meant to show that Tak (Takumi) is human, in life and as a racer. and without the mogi side story 3rd stage would've been cut short. happy.gif

I personally felt 3rd Stage began to drag a bit with the xmas scene and the asshole in the Celica race to save her. I think that the love interest between the Sil 80 chick (i'm sorry i'm bad with names) and Iketani was alright till she was going to give him her virginity if she won. Itsuki's was probably the most appropriate because he is the dude who never catches a break. But see my complaint isn't so much the chicks being there. Its the execution of each of their stories. Overall we have a fairly down to earth show here, lotta very technical jargon tossed about, lotta men being men racing about. Now I respect that with that comes chicks, but jesus why dose Mogi need to turn out to be some kinda whore who has an old rich man supporting her, why did the Iketani/sil 80 chick thing need to go to such awkward places.

That being said I adore the Lonely Driver Itsuki/Iketani jokes which are predominant thoughtout the series

if mogi wasnt doing that then takumi wouldnt have gotten pissed because the benz' daughter wouldnt have sent those notes.

It's good, that there are element which are not always serve the plot but the characters. And the Mogi sidestory is a good one. I wonder if it ever comes to an conclusion.

Mogi is there for Takumi to relate to all of the dudes. Every guy has a chick problem with upon one time in his life. Shuuchi was just showing how it is also there too. Also Mako-chan I think she would of been gr8 for Iketani-Senpai if he would took his head out of his a**. Itsuki with whats her face I think would of been a failure due to his just lack of that part of the brain. Keisuke with Kyoko was a good idea i think something to level out Keisuke's head and to get him a lil bit away from the racing world. Chicks one and each of the Initial D world they are there for a specific purpose. Sry to make it so long.

Ryosuke is a pimp we all know that, look at his driving shoes lol! No seriously, don't get me started on Keisuke, that one I think pissed me off more than any relationship. Here is a f**king hottie who races an RX-7 who basically wants you and has no reason to ever be an issue. But you can't let her be in the way of racing?? Jesus man you drive illegally at night on a road course, your not Mario Andretti, get a little tang once in a blue moon.
I also think that the takumi mogi story is pretty much done after 3rd stage, she goes to tokyo, he goes onto being a badass and focuses on racing. The end from what I can see.

Ryosuke doesnt have problems: Gets some now and then don't call them back problems solved. You know since he is the smartest one out of the bunch I imagine he can probably manipulate women the way he wants. I mean come on the only problem Ryosuke would have is if they said they wanted to settle down ;p.

Not everyone is perfect - maybe this is the one area his logic and reasoning don't work - it would be hilarious to see an awkward Ryosuke asking a girl out on a date whistling.gif

The character info page for Ryousuke in the manga reveals that one of his dislikes are big breasted women with no brains.

The whole thing with Mogi was just a plot device IMO. I don't think it was meant to challenge the whole enjo kosai thing that Mogi was doing...

Even if I agree the women story arcs add something to the thing, I.E Takumi blowing an engine, Iketani's Sil80 chick. Why in the f**k did they have to be so dirty! Takumi doesn't need that shit, Mogi is a f**king prostitute, she is using a sugar daddy to get by. Why do this?? I don't care how common it is, we have a fairly light series here and the women show up and it gets the darkest overtones I've ever seen. If I loose the race I will give you my virginity??? What the f**k kinda pressure is that to put on a dude! or his friend. Alright takumi check it, you win this and I can get me some serious poon tang..
The only acceptable chick thus far is the RX-7 Chick chasing Keisuke. And ever she is a bit of a freak, I'm only going to be a witha dude who drive an RX-7 like mine really fast?? holy unreasonable standards batman!

Those side romance stories are a welcome inclusion for me. As said above, it humanizes the characters, and helps takumi relate to the audience.

Well iconoklast, take into account that this series was geared towards a Japanese audience. The whole Mogi side story (Enjo Kosai) was a social problem over in Japan at the time, not sure if it still is, and I think it was included to reflect Japanese society. It's much like having, say in an American comic, a major character who does drugs and which effects the other characters. Substance abuse is, IMO, a big problem in North American society.

lol he would lose ALOT of time trying to think of all possible situations and variables only to become even more confused.

But why have it such a light series full of comedy and excitement, and then BOOM super dark story with cute chick f**king old Benz dude. And that shit happens in America too I'm not saying its not a valid social issue, its just not appropriate. Its like saaay, when that webcomic Ctrl Alt Del had that one character just up and have a miscarrage. I just don't see the guy characters having such dark overtones cast on them, even the baddest badass is all about just racing and winning

So does any one know who the Benz driver is? Doesn't Itsuki's dad have a benz?

It was never stated that Itsuki's dad owned a Benz. All Itsuki said is that it's a diesel automatic. And Itsuki's dad certainly isn't as rich as the Benz driver.

Anyway. Yes. The Benz driver's identity is. . . *drumroll* "Papa" (A.K.A. secondary character who does not hold enough importance at the moment for Shigeno to bother writing more about him.)

Ummm, I was under the impression its a well known fact that the Benz driver is the father of a classmate of Natsuki's (who calls and informs Takumi of the whole thing).
