Posted by: Nomake Wan Jul 27 2008, 09:41 PM
Eurobeat? Like...what the server plays all by itself with no one there to direct it? Eurobeat?

Posted by: Shirogane Jul 27 2008, 09:54 PM
This station isn't going to work well, I predict.

im just getting used to the system thats all

Posted by: Alastair Jul 27 2008, 10:45 PM
Thanks, i needed a little help from perry and nomake wan they where a huge help actually im gonan broadcast for a half hour starting in 5 minuets

Posted by: Tessou Jul 28 2008, 02:42 AM
I think you're going to have some problems with that schedule. 9PM PST is 12AM EST, which means anybody that has a usual workweek (mon-fri) is not going to be able to listen since we're too busy sleeping at that time.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Jul 28 2008, 06:14 AM
On the other hand, my shows are at 11 PM PST, which puts it well out of grasp of lots of the eastern United States. But listeners show up anyway.

I figure he can give it a shot. As long as his slot doesn't go over anyone else's (I don't think it does) there's no problem with that.

Just needs to get himself a good mic. Who knows, he could be the next Dave Rodgers.

The time is one thing, but the day is the issue. Sunday night is never the best choice.

Perhaps he could take on the (early) weekday nights like me?

Posted by: Alastair Jul 28 2008, 10:55 AM
early weekday nights? so like mon-thu at like 8:00 pm PST

Posted by: Tessou Jul 28 2008, 11:18 AM
Well, I usually started my midnight shifts at 10PM EST, which is 7PM PST.

Posted by: HashiriyaR32 Jul 28 2008, 11:23 AM
Alastair, you could start from 5PM PST.

Okay then. Since neither myself nor InitialDRulz are performing on our regular Saturday night timeslots (9PM-11PM PST), you could easily muscle yourself in there so you're after Hashi and before Nomake Wan's slots. That's two hours of free time that the other DJs usually negotiate over, so I'm sure you could get yourself situated right there. You would have a primetime slot, and the chat room is always filled out on Saturdays, so you'd have it pretty well made.

Posted by: Alastair Jul 28 2008, 11:41 AM
That sounds good to me. Also perry was saying lastnight that if no one is Live on weekdays or whatever I could randomly broadcast is that correct or am i missing something?

Posted by: Tessou Jul 28 2008, 11:53 AM
The wonderful thing about weekday schedules (which I quickly noted and took advatage of with the Midnight Shift) is that there is a ton of free time that anybody can take if they want to. The radio's overlying rule is that the Eurobeat/Wangan Midnight music has the floor from 4AM-4PM PST. Anything that doesn't encroach on that block is fair game.

Dave Rodgers played stuff early in the morning because he could. I played some epic shows on weekday nights because I could.

The radio has a lot of freedom about it. So long as you don't bust the very few cardinal rules, you're golden. Just find something that works with both yourself and the audience.

Posted by: APX Jul 28 2008, 07:18 PM
Wait, the next dave rodgers? Hold on.... LULZ, hell no he's not gonna be the next dave rodgers.

Though this alas kid had some good music, Dave's shows were just epic. <3

Posted by: Alastair Jul 28 2008, 08:08 PM
i may not be the next tesso, nomake wan, dave rodgers, or eiji. im just my own person smile.gif
EDIT:: taking request tonight!!!!! 9:00 PST- 11:00 PST

You can take my slot for saturday night. I won't be home until 11PM EST.

Posted by: Alastair Aug 1 2008, 10:33 PM
Sure ill Take your slot hashiriyaR32 but as for a official slot, any hope for me to get in

Posted by: HashiriyaR32 Aug 1 2008, 11:12 PM
Not very likely, sorry.

Posted by: Alastair Aug 2 2008, 01:41 PM
Oh, i suppose then the idea of me being a IDW DJ fails :\

Posted by: Tessou Aug 2 2008, 01:57 PM
All is not lost, my friend. Remember, the weekday schedules (aside from Friday) are completely open aside from the mandatory eurobeat/wangan midnight block by the server. You could come on at any time outside of those bounds since nobody has a slot at those times.

Why do you think I do my shows on weekday nights? wink2.gif

Posted by: Alastair Aug 2 2008, 02:42 PM
Haha good point tessou very good point wink2.gif

EDIT:: well i have come to realize that the DJ name i have currently is pretty lame i admit it :/ so now i have to debate with my other options, yup sencei can;t think of anything it's up to you!

1. Dj Viral

2. spazzaxel

3. Garlock

Posted by: Lebon14 Aug 3 2008, 01:12 AM

If you are a Gurren Lagann fan, why would you hesitate. XD

Posted by: Alastair Aug 8 2008, 06:01 PM
So i suppose i have a decided with a new IDW dj name! Dj alastair as suggested by our very own kikumaru!, so if any mods read this if possible please change the topic! also Sunday night or Monday night im going to play all Four Episodes of the Epic series Freeman's Mind. which is a slight spoof of the video game series Half Life so tune in!

Posted by: Tetsuya Hikari Aug 8 2008, 07:58 PM
Glad to be of service wink2.gif

Now, instead of hoping the mods come in to see you have changed your name..how about just editing your post instead in the:

https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=28931

thread instead?

I can't speak for everyone, but I'll say my piece. I look forward to seeing what kind of addition you become to the cast of DJs here. Don't let us down tongue.gif

Hi there, I'm kinda confused about all those time-charts about when everyone plays... Especially when it comes to your shows (I've listened to most of the others already). Can you tell me when your show is on? I'm kinda new to this whole online-radio-thingie... I mean I'm sitting in Germany and listening to a mostly american station... I guess that happened to the most germans about 50 years ago *evilgrin*

Posted by: Alastair Dec 6 2008, 06:48 PM
My shows are usuially sunday or monday nights at 9:00pm PST. Hope that is helpful!

Posted by: YumeChan Dec 6 2008, 07:59 PM
Well... I guess it is, I just have to get the grip on the whole timezone calculations.... Oh man, while reading my posts I get the feeling I'm about 12 years old... So I will just ask one of the possibly dumbest questions possible... how many days/hours will it be until your next show?

Posted by: HashiriyaR32 Dec 6 2008, 08:10 PM
From the time of your post to the time of the next show....25 hours. That's 1 day and 1 hour

Posted by: YumeChan Dec 6 2008, 08:18 PM
Hey, thanky for that exact answer... I guess I'm getting kinda stooopid shortly before sunrise (it's 5.14 am and I'm awake for 20 hours)... *hehe*

Now I'm listening to you, HashiriyaR32 right?

Posted by: HashiriyaR32 Dec 6 2008, 08:23 PM
Yes, I'm on the air right now.

Posted by: YumeChan Dec 7 2008, 03:27 AM
cool.gif Now that I'm awake again I kinda understand the schedule better. Sorry for beeing a pain yesterday. I'm not really able to do maths at that time after drinking wine whistling.gif

Posted by: Tessou Dec 7 2008, 03:47 AM
If his show is on at 9PM PST, that would make it... 3AM in your time zone (which I assume is +1:00 GMT). This means that if he schedules a show for Monday night at 9PM PST, you will catch it at 3AM on Tuesday morning.

Actually, no, that was way wrong because I am an idiot when it comes to time zone calculations. PST is GMT-8, and Germany is located in GMT+1, so 9:00PM PST Monday should be 12PM (noon) Tuesday GMT+1.

NOON. You will hear it at NOON, demmit.

Posted by: YumeChan Dec 7 2008, 10:11 AM
Noon *nods*, okay... Too bad I'm only able to listen to radio while at home, so on weekends and in the evenings... But what I've heard until now was really nice... A small bit to tell you which DJ is on at the beginning of each show would be nice, though... wink2.gif

Tesso, Alastair's showtime is 9:00PM PST SUNDAY. Which means it'll be 6AM (GMT +1) Monday.

You REALLY FAIL time zones, but I'll let it slip since you originally made that post after you got back from work.

You will get used to it YumeChan. I really dont know what to play tonight, i have to much music on Winamp.

Posted by: YumeChan Dec 8 2008, 09:31 AM
*hehe* I know what you mean... Too bad I couldn't listen to your show yesterday...But well... if you ask me what kind of Songs you should play, I would almost always say either popular Para²-Songs (just love "My sweet banana" at the moment, it's so weird) or really crazy popmusic or electro-stuff (i.e. Omodaka, I guess that doesn't really fit here.... )

Ugh. Needs more automerge/autobump feature if they intend to enforce that shit.

Shoutcast functions perfectly with Vista and Windows 7. If I had to guess, however, I'd guess that you mean that the "Push to Talk" button doesn't adjust the microphone volume. You'd be right, it's a known bug listed right on the wiki which they're working on. However, that volume can be adjusted through the Vista/7 audio panel easily.

I mean, I've done my shows on Vista/7 since I built this computer in... 2009? 2008? I forget.

But since you're moving on to real radio shows and real podcasts, I can't really argue. smile.gif Enjoy yourself!
