Ken Blast Group: Members Posts: 104 Member No.: 35,048 Joined: Mar 3rd 2010 Location: SF Bay Area, California | So I finally beat Ry in Akina; managing to keep my gears lower than I usually do managed to sneak me in a slot. However, my problem is that with Takumi, he gets such a massive lead in the first 15 seconds of the race, that I'm pretty much dinked from the start! I'm driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV but I have a Sileighty and another car I can't quite recall (the Mitsubishi's been good to me up 'till now, so I haven't needed alternates). I'm just recently getting the hang of the course (I.E, actually cornering right instead of just depending on being in front of the other racer), but the car just doesn't seem as fast as the AE86. What should I do? |

Breaking helps your car slow down enough for the turns and lets you pass through it without getting a steering penalty or speed penalty. The 86 driven by Takumi is this game is really garbage, you'll get him sooner or later once you learn the actual mechanics of the game. |

@wssh: I beg your pardon? While my technique certainly could use a boost (not all my turns are as consistent as they could be), it's a little much to say I know NOTHING about the game. Besides, the fact that I've gotten this far (I've cleared Lake Akina, Myogi and Akagi before now) would suggest that I've learned a thing or two by now, right? @junetrish: I'm in California... that's a bit of a ways away! True enough. You have gotten this far, and that is commendable. However, even a child could clear Lake Akina and Myogi through sheer dumb luck by letting go off the accelerator on some corners. The trick with Takumi if you cant beat him in the corners, is to block him as much as possible in the consecutive pins, as that's where he gets a monster boost. You will catch up on the long straights assuming you exit with your RPM high on your second to last gear without hitting the wall. It's a relatively easy thing to pass Takumi then. There's a 3-minute flat simulation guide pinned above in the main V4 section. You can check that out for something more in depth, even if you aren't using a Trueno. | ||

Hm... agreed on Myogi and Lake Akina; I was only posting them as a reference to the fact that I've actually worked my way up and am not just leaping ahead of myself. Thank you for the info! The next time I'm out to play I'll keep these in mind. | ||

It's pretty practical. Like I said earlier, use your breaks, keep your speed around 120, or better 130+ on most corners, you're good. First thing's first. I'm not gonna saying that I'm a pro in this. But when it come to help others, I'll do the best i can. Say, simply speaking, Takumi Fujiwara character in Initial D Arcade Stage 4 Version 1.5 appear in Mt. Akina as the last driver in order. I have noted something about both his car's performance and his driving skill and I'm about to give you a resume of 'em. Car's performance (1986 Toyota Corolla Sprinter TRUENO GT-APEX) You surely notice it easily: This car is surely slow when launching off the start line and when you already rev. all your way up to the 4th gear (still in the first straightway before the very first turn), the distance between your Evo. and his AE86 is drastically reduced. My analysis for this is that TRUENO sucks at 1st and 2nd gears. Takumi Fujiwara's driving style Though i need 6 times of play before i finally beat him, at least try to trust me on this, TAKUMI FUJIWARA WOULD USE EVERY SINGLE DITCH (GUTTER) IN THAT MOUNTAIN. Simply speaking, though the corner is not too sharp, he'll still be using it. You can easily notice it in the first corner. The corner's just not too sharp and the road is wide enough for both of you, right? And you don't feel the necessity to hit your brakes, right? True. But try to take a look at Takumi's driving behavior. He'd be using the ditch at the inner side of the apex (left side of the road) and try to stick close to the wall. | ||

IDW Regular Member Group: Members Posts: 200 Member No.: 33,122 Joined: Jun 4th 2009 Location: Update Profile | Takumi is not hard to beat once you get the cornering way of evo4....lining,speed,penalty cancel is must be enough fast to get faster...simple...see how those player beat takumi and learn their thing that better than you...by seeing their top speed of certain area....at least if you able to keep up to takumi at 5 consecutive hairpin,1st turn is shift to g4 and wall wrap at the 1st...your exit will about 12+-13+ at exit...1stly must remember steering control at exit to maintain speed is important... |

I'm having a lil trouble with him with the GC8V but I've only tried him once, doesnt seem too bad tbh. |
