Took these from a hill near my friend's place where they were shooting off fireworks yesterday. Never tried shooting fireworks before, but I read some tips for getting good ones. Of all the shots, I think these turned out the best. smile.gif

1, 4, and 6 are my personal favorites. All of them range from 6-10 second exposures, except the last one, which is a 30-second. I think I'd like to try and shoot some more from closer up with my 10-22. Maybe I can catch one of the Sea World shows during the summer.

All shot using Tv shutter speed priority mode, ISO100, and manual focus to infinity. 17-85 lens on 50D body.

Curious what about #4 you like so much. Is it just because it's right before the actual burst? (or at least that's what I'm guessing it is)

it just looks like something you'd see from deep space! i've not ever seen a fireworks shot look like that; its almost always the usual palm-tree style.

#1 reminds me of the tripods from war of the worlds or something.... it just looks like a walker with reaching things.

Y'know Drifter, even with a less than stellar camera (as long as you can adjust the exposure) and a tripod, anyone can crank out some decent fireworks photos.

Can you make a 1920x1200 wallpaper out of picture #7? It's by far my fav.
