Any of you have an in-depth strategy guide for an FD Type R on iro? Like brake points, what gear to take the turns in, jumps, etc....

nope! just race and figure it out for yourself. on the shirt points for me it is 7.5 (rpm),7.5,7.5, then when i hit 120 K/Mh then i shirt into 5th. you can mess around when it comes to shifting into 5th. but that has worked for me alot

120 in a FD? For Type R its definitely 130 (stock). Could be 132 for after you tune it up. Turn in early. Cutting is very important on irohazaka. Very hard to explain the times. you'll just have to test out. sorry i couldnt help out more. if you want some BASIC tips, ill help you out.

Hmm, what's cutting?

Anyways, i usually take the first turn at 3rd then the next one braking in 4th. For the 2nd section I do 3rd gear for most of them. I can't take the jumps, so i off-accel drift through those turns, and take the later part of the 4th section in off-accel third.

Now onto my problems. The first turn in section 2 and the first 2 turns in section 4 ALWAYS get me.

In the type R Fd shifting points are pretty slow to me,7.2(going to second)7.5(to thrid) 6.9(to fourth) and i wait till 133 135 to go to fifth(in rpm's that can range from 7.9 to 8.6 depending on far you are on the customazation.

Just remember to avoid walls like the plague. Don't kick yourself if you can't avoid it at the first hairpin, it takes a while to begin to get the hang of that one. Slow, steady and wall-less wins the race.

for pretty much any course your FD (spirit or type R) should be shifting at:

6.0>6.5>7.2>130 for iro. if you dont believe it look at the start intervals. 7.5 is waaay to high for the first few gears.

best time right now is only a 2'43'8xx but i dont play iro much right now with the FD. so my advice is up to you to be taken or not.

first turn i'd brake and gear down to 3rd but shift to 4th midway out exiting at about 102. right when the next turn comes up you should be around 118kph

2nd turn brake and gear down to 3rd again at about 98-100. you can take these first few in 4th but its easier in 3rd to make the turns a bit tighter and not touch the walls.

3rd turn brake at the yellow stripes and gear down to 3rd again. before you get there you should be at about 128 or higher.

the rest you can figure out which to take in 4th or 3rd. best thing is cleanliness. the FD's 4th gear acceleration will make up for its slower exit/entry speed if you just keep it clean with a good line.
