So this is it. A build for my attempt at doing well in pro-am this year, I previously bought 1 S5 TII and proceeded to strip it, and add a lot of foot work goodies.

such as....
  • Tein super drift coilovers
  • Polyurethane Bushings all around
  • Rear steer eliminator bushings
  • New wheel bearings all around
  • Mazdatrix Super angle kit
  • Forrest Wang modified spindles
  • Removal of front and rear sway bars
  • Resurfaced rotors
  • Hawk pads
  • SS brakes lines
  • ACT Pressure plate w/ 6 puck sprung clutch
  • SS clutch line
  • Jegs Snubber
  • Sparco Evo Seat

it was all going on this thing....

user posted image

I proceed to strip it completely, removing the sound deadening as well...

but then...

I found another TII that was already done...well sorta..

basically, it had a haltech E6k, a rebuilt motor with a street port and a BNR stage 1 turbo. It made 393 whp @ 17 psi

it was one of those "I need to sell it now" deals and I picked it up for 2500

With that in mind, I picked up the car, and found some hot girls doing a car wash....how could I resist...

user posted image

With that taken car of, I proceeded to take off my parts and install the parts on the new car...

So far we have the bushings, Coilovers, Forrest Spindles, DTSS spindles, new brakes + rotors, SS Brake lines, and wheels installed, almost done, just a few more things and it is ready for pro-am smile.gif

thats where I stand.. Pro-am starts for me this saturday, maybe I'll update this everyonce in a while wink2.gif

looking for a bit more than that I suppose

anyway, I got out there after working on the car until 5 am replacing the brakes, E brake, and a few other touches...

The event was a 8 am, I only had 1 hour of sleep sad.gif

Never the less, I went out and tried my best wink2.gif

user posted image

I did some test runs on the car before swapping tires, and it was confirmed, that the Viscous Diff was basically running like an open diff - save for the fact that it liked to lock up randomly on me every once in a while...it wasn't very fun

user posted image

I did what I could and with fresh tires, it helped my runs be more consistent

user posted image

After a while, even with the diff situation, I was able to lay down some nice runs. But when it came time to compete, things didn't work out so well.

user posted image

On my runs, I spun both times, it was upsetting - but a well learned result. The car has a long way to go and this was the first time I have ever driven her, the car already has a new diff being put in, and by the time the next event comes around, I will hopefully have my angle kit, my cage, and a bit more power

it makes plenty enough - but a tuner suggests he could get a bit more out of it

I am skeptical to be honest, it is quick for sure, but not a 400hp quick, my famous butt dyno says 250

besides that, I am more looking for it to be reliable, thus a better tune is in order considering I really know nothing about the motor of the car itself.

So i put my angle kit in - what a difference ( finally came in after 2 months of waiting...)

I went to the track 3 days in a row to have fun on them smile.gif

The RS3's in the rear are still holding up, these things last a while !!

I found one sick pic from pro-am, with stock angle.... sad.gif

I still do not have a roll cage, but thats ok, because I don't plan on being competive this year - I am a broke college kid after all.

I crashed my car about an hour before qualifying and bent my inner and outer tie rod ( I also bent my rack - but didn't know at the time)

I made a decision to travel back home and take the tie rod off of a parts car I have. Unfortunately, it is about 40 minutes to travel there, I did it in 20. I hardly had time, and drove like I had no time on the free way.

I made it back only then to find my rack is bent and the car would not turn right at all. We fixed it as we could with a sledge hammer and some other barbaric techniques, but it was still way off. My toe was way off as well and showed itself with a new steering feel (not a good one).

I missed my first chance to qualify, but I gave it a shot on the second attempt - I was just happy I didn't spin.

I guess it was enough to put me in top 16 - it was hardly a good run, I was just working with what I had.

user posted image

As it turns out, I was the only driver without a roll cage in the entire event. I didn't get to tandem, so the driver I was going up against had a free by, but it felt good to make it especially considering the circumstances smile.gif

Thanks everyone for the help and support

wow - its funny, I for some reason thoughts I had at least somewhat updated this with some info inbetween these times, but I guess not...

ok so going back to where I left it ( right before round 3 )

I got some more safety stuff

user posted image
Image size reduced, original size: 720 x 406. Click here to view the image in its original dimension.

And it was a good thing I did

because that event, I did pretty well - I qualified 1st, and was looking real good with an entry speed of 89 mph ( highest of the event as well )

YOUTUBE ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4r4Oyrqnvw )

But sadly - after that I smashed into the wall hard and did this

Hit my head pretty hard, even with the helmet, the safety padding on the roll cage, seat, and harness all nice and tight, I had a concussion but turned out ok smile.gif

so after that, I had slowly begun to put all my usable parts into my red back up car...

user posted image

but then there is a long boring part where school takes up my entire life for a few semesters - so lets just skip that.

We are here today with another caged car, a more aggressive tune, more angle, but overall same set up.

smile.gif

Oh - and the part where I somehow ended up with a Z
