I don't know how many times I have said this, time sure flies. Today is the 8th time Initial D World celebrates its anniversary since it comes into existence on August 1st, 2000. Frankly, with all the things happening in my life, I honestly didn't expect to be speaking here for IDW's 8th birthday.
2008 has been, for the most part, quiet for the forums. We've seen extreme drought in forums activities during the first and second quarter when posting rate dropped to mere 200 posts per day. With more and more people quitting IDAS4 and announcement of Fifth Stage still nowhere near, it is no wonder the forums were losing its steam.
One thing that needs to be mentioned is how successfully our radio broadcast is doing. Almost every weekend, the chat room is packed with people who listen to the radio broadcast hosted by our beloved DJs. I truly believe that the radio will bring the community even closer together and I thank all of the DJs for their hard work and taking time out hosting their show. Nomake Wan will be doing a special show tonight (August 1, 2008) at 11:00pm Pacific Time to celebrate IDW's 8th birthday, don't miss it !!
Following up with the T-shirt idea from last year, it did not go as planned and we decided to scrape it. There are no plans to make any Initial D World merchandise in the near future, if you are interested in helping us out, feel free to contact me via PM or Instant Messenger.
In closing, I am very proud to be the one who started the site and the forums. A site / forums that last almost a decade is something you don't see every day. I remember 8 years ago at this time I was just putting the site online. I honestly thought the site would never take off and probably die within a year. Boy, was I wrong.
