They didn't...They were all turbocharged as far as I know...My friend did have plans of swapping the FD's engine for a NA FC engine, but I don't know if he ever did that...or even if it's possible...I don't know...

I don't know what the hell happened over the past few weeks but I decided to get a Mustang.  ;)  I don't know whether to get GT vert or GT coupe ($ GT vert = $ Mach 1) But I want to stick with GT. Any thoughts on that?

From a performance aspect, I'd go with the coupe...Much of the car's lateral stability in the chassis comes from the roof, and without the roof, extra stability is added to the chassis, increasing it's overall weight. Chassis isn't as stable, so handeling abilities will be decreased, and with the added weight, that'll just bog down acceleration...

I'd go with the GT Coupe, but if you're wanting a GT Covertible, you might as well shell out the money for a Mach 1...$5000 less than a Camaro SS, and still able to out-accelerate the dead Bow-Tie...Besides, that shaker hood scoop is just damn cool... cool.gif

BWAHAHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAAAAAHAAA!! *takes in air, sighs* BWAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! Youre kidding, right? The Mach 1 can not.. I repeat, can NOT out accelerate an LS1 F-bod. Ive never heard of an N/A Stang running 12s straight off the shhowroom floor, as I have with many SS's and WS6's.

Pre-production Mach 1's ran 13's flat...Get an actual production model and put a few break-in miles, and I guarentee it will run 12's with the F-Bodies on stock conditions... biggrin.gif

I go to the Ohio Valley drag strip every now and then, and I've seen a new Mach 1 with only 200 miles on the ODO make a 13-flat run...I don't live just by magazines and websites for proof... tongue.gif

not meaning to step into your argument here, but maybe the driver you saw wasnt very good? A GTR would still run a 30 second pass if it was being driven by my mum.

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords ran a brand-new Mach 1 with the 5-speed as well, but only got a 13.1...The lot of them (staff) are active drag racers, so a .10 of a second between a regular racer and a racer for a magazine must mean something, and it may not...All I know is I saw proof in real-time, and I'd like to see more runs from that guy...

As for on-topic, I'd still get the Mach 1 if it matches performance with an F-Body for nearly $5-grand less, although a convertible GT wouldn't be bad either as a good chick-attractive cruise...

If you get an FC, you won't have to do a rotary engine swap, so as long as the set-up is naturally aspirated...I have a friend who has a '94 (FD), and the engine's been pretty reliable, when compaired to the turbocharged '93 (FD) he used to own...

Last I checked, weren't all Fc and FD engines rotary? Regardless if its in a NA or FI form?

Well I can see we have the old debate, Ford vs Chevy. The F body vs the fox body. I'll keep my Bias to myself and say this, you never buy a first year run of any model, you wait to see the bugs first.

And Back a few pages to the S-10 sonoma statement, yes they are mini pickups.
