I was listening to" If You Stay With Me" by Sara and noticed an oddly familiar riff from 0:09 to 0:26.

This riff I'm talking about sounds a lot like "When the Sun Goes Down" by Ken Blast from 0:20 to 0:36.

I'm not sure if they're made by the same producer or record label, but what are your takes on the situation?

HOLY CRAP. Now, that's a ressemblance.
Yeah, both songs were produced by Delta. Sara's song was written by "L.Gelmetti, A.Gilardi, C.Varola" and "When The Sun Goes Down" was written by "Travis Stebbins and V.Degiorgio".

Have you heard of the word "tribute"? I think that that it applies here. Travis probably likes that song a lot and threw a tribute to that song in the intro of "When The Sun Goes Down". It happens a lot. Not just in eurobeat.

There's also sampling to consider. They could be using a common sample. For instance, just today I came across three songs that all used the exact same sample for their intro. I know not the source of the sample, but it's curious to hear something and go, "Wait, haven't I heard this...?"

Super Eurobeat is notorious for ripping their own songs a la Space Boy and The Final Countdown.

Oh wow, just found out about this a little bit ago!

I would like to clarify something about this— while the chord progression between the two IS similar (if rather common), I actually have not heard "If You Stay With Me" by Sara until... well, just a few minutes ago! And the resemblance is uncanny.

The introduction to the version I sent Laurent, originally called "When The Wolves Sing", had an entirely different introduction. (It was so utterly bad, listening to it now... I'm not horribly surprised they didn't go with it!) After I sent the original version, the MIDI, a couple takes of the synth brass, and my vocals, I did not know how it would sound until I received the first version, originally intended for Super Euro Freak Vol.2. I loved it, and had no inkling that any elements of it (other than the vocal sample in the intro, "CLICK THE RED BUTTON FOR A TRIP TO SPACE" bit) were potentially used in other songs.

...so yeah, they seem pretty darn similar! I'm just as surprised as you guys. But nothing I provided for the final version suggested a specific/explicit relationship to this song. I can see now that Laurent wanted WTSGD to be a bit of a spiritual successor... and I'm down with that I guess!

But please do not accuse me of plagiarism, or Newfield of... well, ripping himself off, I guess?

now if you'll excuse me i'm gonna upload more fandom-related material because im trash

I sincerely hope SPB is not out-earning SEB.

Besides, I was referring to Undertale.

hahaha, mea culpa. I was out of the country for a while, and TV & internet were scarce; so I'm still catching up on approx 5 years of awesome music/shows. SPB outselling SEB? Carzy train! What we need to do is put our hands together and merge them~ add a dash of TohoBeat in between, and we got the new in-tripple-national hit. biggrin.gif

I don't! Nothing personal, I just haven't had much time to swing by.

Coincidentally, I just picked up an Initial D 8 card, from the new Round 1 that opened up in Eastridge in the city I just moved out of. If anyone's in the South Bay of the SF Bay Area, you might just catch me at one of the machines~! And also I might pop on here to learn how to get good at a game I should already be good at.

Arcade Stage 9 is gonna have Cirno's Pearl Blue BRZ...

...meaning, it's gonna freeze up the machine and make the screen explode stalactites when it says GO!
