Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Initial D General Discussion > 5th Stage: Any differences in TV and BD animation?

Posted by: fujito10 Oct 23 2017, 06:59 PM
Just thought I'd get this question off my chest... but is it true that there lie animation differences in Bluray and TV animation for Fifth Stage?

The chances of finding out are about the same as landing a mint copy of Pit3.

I wouldn't expect any changes, though.

Go buy the bluray and let us know.

I'm uploading the Fifth Stage Blu-ray files with hardcoded/burnt-in english subtitles and at 60 fps (using MeGUI for interpolation, since the CG cars in Initial D works well with interpolation, although regular anime does not).

Episode 1 - youtube.com/watch?v=XpTayyc0x3A

The channel - youtube.com/c/initialdremastered

I plan on doing the Final Stage next and making a seperate thread on this forum about it.

All the information about my plans, etc. are in the description of the episodes with links to reddit discussions that happened on reddit.com/r/initiald

I could convert the blu-ray remasters of stages 1-4 in both sub and dub to my channel but funimation will likely block them in the countries that they don't work in, as what happened with the subbed first stage episodes which were on youtube before funimation uploaded the episodes to their channel. These are the countries which the videos would be blocked in: bit.ly/2AuFUp2

My channel is having quick growth and it's already been shared on facebook.com/initial

EDIT #1:

I can't use the full url for the links since I haven't made 3 posts yet :/

How about you copy/paste your self advertisement elsewhere? Maybe on that facebook page you keep touting as if it means anything.

If you could release them in softsubs, too, that'd be wonderful for those who want access to raws.

Initial D has literally never had animation revisions done for any of its home releases. Redoing animation costs money, money that neither Avex nor the animation studios they subcontract to are interested in spending. I'm certain Fifth Stage still has that derp as hell Takumi face at the end of the race with Omiya, and that Final Stage Act.2 is still half comprised of one CG clip being repeated over and over.

Battle Stage would like a word with you.

That's interesting. What animation errors did the broadcast of Battle Stage have that the home release fixed up?

Battle Stage was an OVA only. All it did was update the cg. 2d animation mostly remained the same.

There actually was a version of it that aired on TV. It was the source of the ancient raw for Battle Stage that was used for the old Soldats fansub and had some of the races out of order.

So that's what explains all the music that'd play during the "AE Hachiroku vs." parts.

I was referring to the fact that Battle Stage is in and of itself an update of the 3D animation from First and Second Stage.

Posted by: Meteor Nov 10 2017, 08:51 PM
Well that doesn't count; I was strictly referring to animation corrections between broadcast and home video of the same thing, not full on remakes tongue.gif
It used the Second Stage footage as-is, by the way (I'm not counting FD VS Evo IV, since it was never in Second Stage in the first place). Only the First Stage races saw new CG added.
