Hey guys, I am in the market for a dash cam but I don't know what to look for as I have never had a dash cam before and I don't know what to look for in one. Any recommendations?

What kind are you looking for? Do you want the cheapest camera you can plug into your lighter socket and stick on your dash or are you looking for something smart enough to start recording when you fire the car up and overwrite old video when you reach the end of your memory card? Because I only know about the first option, which involves 10 minutes on ebay and about 30 bucks.

2 years ago in Toronto, a scammer got foiled by a dashcam, but only after Internet vigilantes started to track him down and harasse and threathen him, and the word spread and other victims came forward...that's when the cops decided to investigate.

There was a real scare and people were organizing and looking into dashcams, and organised a group-buy on the Blackvue DR400G-HD.

The GoPro3 does a looping record feature that would allow it to work as a dashcam now.

Nismo hasn't logged in since August, I'm sure he'll use that info wisely.

I am back again lol. Thanks for the info, I actually did use it. Ended up ordering a Cobra 840 by accident on amazon (that one click to order) facepalm.gif but it has been working amazingly well. The picture quality is great and the motion detection while parked is useful. The only downside to the cam was the length of the power cable, I had to hack it up and make a custom extension lol. Thanks for the info guys, sorry about taking such long vacations from IDW.
