The Aspiring Sprinter Group: Advanced Members Posts: 844 Member No.: 32,890 Joined: May 11th 2009 Location: Malaysia, KL | As most of us knew, the Legend of the Streets Mode are still divided into 4 categories and that is Beginner, Normal, Hard, and Expert. Just out of whim, I feel that I should point out the rivals' skill rankings and statistics just in case for those who are STILL not familiar with the difficulty between rivals in the game. Just trying to offer some help that I can get from my own experience. You don't really have to believe me completely or anything, but this is all I can offer in LoTS battles, hopefully it will help you out somehow. Anyway, let's get it on. BEGINNER : AKINA LAKE Opponent No.1: Iketani Kyouichiro (Level: ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Nissan Silvia K's (S13) Overview: Even after Initial D Ver.2, Ver.3, this guy remained a bum as ever in his good ol' S13. Just drive smoothly while keeping a good pace about 140 km/h + all the time and he should be bagged easily. Even if you do bump a few walls directly, you'll still have some good chances. In other words, a good opponent for those who are still new to Initial D AS 5's psychics. Opponent No.2: Imposter Project-D (Level: ★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Toyota Corolla Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex (AE86) Overview: Well, well...if it isn't the famous comic relief (other than Itsuki) in the Initial D manga...there's nothing I can say for this group, really. But just so you know, they get a big boost at the start of the battle, a big boost BIG enough to ACTUALLY pass you! But no matter, just drive like you always do without worrying about not keeping up. Because around late CP2 to CP3, they started to LAG WAY DOWN. This is the chance to cut them off easily. Pass them once after they slow down, and they no longer bite. You can easily get a 300m + advantage on them if you keep a good line. Some said it's possible to go over 500m+, though I am not sure of this myself... INTERMEDIATE: MYOGI Opponent No.1: Nakamura Kenta (Level: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Nissan Silvia Q's (S14) Overview: The only thing I can say about this chap in Redsuns and Project-D? It's gonna be one heck of a race if he's racing the rainwater instead of you in person. Why? Because he's THAT weak even in Myogi Wet. Drive as well as you can maintain a smooth line with a few good hairpin clearing, he's good as smoked. Opponent No.2: Shoji Shingo (Level: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Honda Civic SiR.II (EG6) Overview: This self-centered jerk is still the same as always, fast on beginning, but falls in the later half. He won't hesitate to trade some paint or ride your bumper to pass you. Just keep a good line and pace. He's only a minor annoyance here if you're familiar with Myogi downhill. Opponent No.3: Nakazato Takeshi (Level: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Nissan Skyline GT-R V・specII (BNR32) Overview: A rocket start and keeps a rather tight line. He's not exactly threatening, but will chase you like a shadow if you scrape a few walls directly. Maintain your line and avoid crashing into anything, you should have him without much problem. Overall, only a few seconds faster than Shingo. HARD: AKAGI Opponent No.1: Kenji (Level: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Nissan 180SX Type II (RPS13) Overview: Not exactly fast on straights or cornering, but keeps a smooth line and never hit anything. Those who knew Akagi well shouldn't have too much of a problem dealing with this Speed Star's Top 3 member. He's really slow on the last CP though. So as long as you have him in your sights the whole time, you'll have a chance to beat him. Opponent No.2: Kyoko (Level: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Mazda RX-7 Type R (FD3S) Overview: She starts out as a capable and fast lady driver, but as the race progress till CP3 onwards, her run starts to become more and more girlish and sluggish. Just drive clean and maintain a steady pace, she'll give up on closing in eventually. Don't worry about scraping a few walls, as long as it isn't a direct crash, you'll still have some good chances to keep a nice 30-40m advantage. Opponent No.3: Takahashi Ryousuke (Level: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆) Car: Mazda SAVANNA RX-7 ∞III (FC3S) Overview: His FC in Akagi Downhill is rightly a ferocious pair for intermediate drivers. He has an incredible start-up speed and keeps a smooth line all the time. So smooth in fact, you'll feel like wanting one as well. Your chances of passing him are either on corner exit speed faster than him or not at all, since his straightaway speed is still above average. He can romp all beginners easily, but it shouldn't be THAT difficult for players whom got a grasp of the game's feel. He's the first tough opponent budding players need to worry about. Keep a good pace and don't rush it on the deadly curves of the last checkpoint. Just maintain a good medium speed range and he'll fall eventually. Good luck taking down the White Comet. HARD: AKINA Opponent No.1: Itsuki (Level: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Toyota Corolla Levin SR (AE85) Overview: Finally, the underdog in Myogi since Ver. 2 onwards is starting to look like a racer. Now he's moved to Akina with his turbocharged AE85 Levin. Anyway, he's not that tough even though he's clearly faster and better than the previous versions of him. Keep a good straight line and maintain cornering speed at a good pace, he's still not fast enough to catch up even if you do commit a few mistakes here and there. On the last checkpoint is where he lags a bit. Drive like you always do in Akina Uphill and he'll fall quickly. PS: I'll give him points for moving on to Akina finally! XD Opponent No.2: Mako & Sayuki (Level: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Nissan SILEIGHTY Overview: Not bad for a pair who drives a nice Sileighty. They can easily clear the hairpins from the beginning CP on an above average speed. Stay as close to them or lead with a clean line. They eases up quite a bit in the deadly 5 hairpins and the Right Hand of Doom, that's where you pass them with best chances of opening any gaps. Opponent No.3: Seiji Iwaki (Level: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Mitsubishi Lancer RS Evolution IV (CN9A) Overview: His Evo IV isn't exactly threatening even after CP3 where he speeds up a bit to gain ground on you. His straight speed is fairly good, but nothing too threatening even for someone who handles a 4WD. His cornering is still zippo-level though. Out-turn him and out-brake him is the main key to assured victory. Nothing much can be said to this dude since we know what to expect from Emperor's lackeys. Opponent No.4: Takahashi Keisuke (Level: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆) Car: Mazda RX-7 Type R (FD3S) Overview: His FD's power is rightly feared on uphill battles even on Akina. His ferocious straightaway speed and above average crisp cornering can give a hard time for those who aren't used to uphill of Akina. He's got a minor boost from CP3 onwards to gain ground or make gaps if he leads, so do whatever you can to keep a steady pace and line. Of course, in the last CP, you must keep your lead with a clean driving line, if you can't keep the lead from this point onwards, it's his race. Opponent No.5: Fujiwara Takumi (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆) Car: Toyota Corolla Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex (AE86) Overview: You're racing the ace from Project D on his own turf which he drove for over 5 years. So of course this is gonna be a tight race. His AE86 with him on the wheels is a freaking cornering machine. Your only chances now are to rely on your speed in straights or at least maintain a good cornering speed range. If he out-brakes you, he's pretty much untouchable unless you try to gain ground on him again in straights. In the 5 Deadly Hairpins is where he nail every gutter runs if he's chasing. You'll NEVER be able to hit gutter in the speed he could, but do your best to maintain a tight line and keep him away from reaching you any further. At the last checkpoint he's still very fast. But if you can keep a clean line and maintain a lead of at least 70m+ in the process, chances of him passing you are still slim. But if you screw up here and he passes you EVEN once, you're finished. EXPERT: IROHAZAKA Opponent No.1: Kogashiwa Kai (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆☆☆) Car: Toyota MR-2 G-Limited (SW20) Overview: Not exactly the threatening fast type. But this dude's got the entire Irohazaka course mapped out in his mind. His MR2 can clear hairpins very quick and if you somehow scraped a few walls, he'll most likely pass you effortlessly. He keeps a very tight line in the process and will nail EVERY SINGLE JUMP on the CP3 section so beware of that. Opponent No.2: Sudou Kyouichi (Level: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆) Car: Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evolution III (CE9A) Overview: Ferocious straightaway speed and keeps a tight cornering entry and exit speed range will make you work like a slave in your car. You're either out-braking him on hairpins or you won't stand much of a chance against his EVO III. At the last CP, you must do whatever you can to maintain a tight pace, if not, his EVO III will gain ground on you rapidly thanks to his Misfiring System kicking in. In other words, drive well and clean, you'll stand a chance, if not, he's good as stealing a win from you. EXPERT: HAPPOGAHARA Opponent No.1: Ninomiya Daiki (Level: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆) Car: Honda Civic Type R (EK9) Overview: He's not all that fast on straights, but insanely quick on cornering and hairpin-clearing speed is almost hard to believe, even for a computer. How tough he is depends completely on how well you know Happogahara. If you can drive without hitting any walls or at least keep a steady pace, Daiki isn't much of a threat other than being an annoyance since he will still tail you like a shadow. Overall, much tougher than his Ver.3 self. Opponent No.2: Smiley Sakai (Level: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆) Car: Honda Integra Type R (DC2) Overview: Not only is he quick on straights, but he's also really fast in corner (only a second or two slower than Daiki) and has a tendency to feint brake without affecting his own rhythm much (which can easily fool beginners since braking IS vital in IDAS5 after all). However, if you can maintain a steady pace like how you deal with Daiki once you get the hang of the road, he's not threatening. His DC2 is still quite feared though, considering that his straightaway speed can sometimes be a problem. Opponent No.3: Takahashi Ryousuke (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆) Car: Mazda SAVANNA RX-7 ∞III (FC3S) Overview: In a word, smooth. In two words; REAL smooth. His driving line is incredibly smooth and clean along with his crisp cornering speed. Either take him out on straights and maintain the lead on curves or not at all. Chances of you passing him are rather slim unless you know how to tackle the winding roads in Happogahara properly without crashing too much in to walls. Opponent No.4: Tomoyuki Tachi (Level: ★★★★★★★★★☆) Car: Honda Civic Type-R (EK9) Overview: A true challenge for those who wanted a competition in Happogahara against CPU rivals. Ferocious cornering speed, blinding straightaway speed along with a massive boost on the Deadly Snake Hairpins will force you to work on your cornering skills. If he passes you from CP3 onwards, his overtaking windows shuts tight instantly because his pace is just that fast. Drive hard and don't hesitate to take a few desperate measures to bite back. His cornering is not without an opening. If you see EVEN ONE part of him holding back, cut him off whenever he eases up. EXPERT: TSUKUBA Opponent No.1: Two Guys From Tokyo (Level: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆) Car: Nissan Silvia Spec-R (S15) Overview: Nothing much can be said here. Just drive as good as you would expect 2 nimrods in an S15 are capable of. They are surprisingly competitive on the start though. But once you cut them off from CP3 onwards, they no longer pose any threat. A good way to learn Tsukuba once more for those who played IDAS4. Opponent No.2: Akiyama Wataru (Level: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆) Car: Toyota Corolla Levin GT-Apex (AE86) Overview: Not exactly an aggravating opponent, but his Levin 86 can dog you like a missile all the way even on Wet condition. If you can't maintain a good line, his victory will be guaranteed. So depending on how well you know Tsukuba, he's from a minor annoyance to a frustrating opponent. Opponent No.3: Joushima Toshiya "GOD HAND" (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆) Car: Honda S2000 (AP1) Overview: He's not only fast on straights, but really fast on corner too. And he has a tendency to block sometimes when you try to gain ground on him. On the straight at the CP3 section, you may try to pull off some crazy stunts like a blind attack to pass him. And I've tested this and it works. He won't block but rather stay put on his current position. So if he shows an opening there, you can pass him without worrying him blocking you. Other than that, racing him along with Ko-chan is where your skills in Tsukuba is put to the test. Opponent No.4: Hoshino Kozo "GOD FOOT" (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆) Car: Nissan Skyline GT-R V・specII Nür (BNR34) Overview: This guy is tough. He's not only incredibly quick on straights, but his cornering is also close to God Hand's. His R34 can be quite annoying when he blocks since that huge-ass car will block your view if you keep sticking to his bumper. The key is to maintain a good line and avoid riding his bumper unless it wasn't intentional or you're in a bad position where you cannot move on the other side of the road. EXPERT: NAGAO Opponent No.1: Kobayakawa (Level: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆) Car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII (CT9A) Overview: He's considered quite a persistent opponent for those who are new to Nagao since he's got the course mapped out even for the first opponent in the hardest course of the game. He can easily clear the twisty and tricky curves at a fast pace so don't hesitate to mimic his brake-timing if you aren't sure where to brake or ease up the gas. Once you get the hang of the course, he's no longer that scary. Opponent No.2: Omiya (Level: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆) Car: Mazda Roadster-RS (NB8C) Overview: This guy is a mean son of a gun at the beginning of Nagao Downhill. But don't give up yet since the race just begun. Maintain a steady pace and don't fall into the gutters, you'll do fine just by closing some big gaps he made at the beginning. He eases up at the long straight of the later half. That's when you get your chance in flooring your car to its fullest to close the gap and pass him. If you can still maintain your line without scraping any major walls, you'll smoke him, despise being a persistent opponent. Opponent No.3: Kogashiwa Kai (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆) Car: Toyota MR-S S Edition (ZZW30) Overview: The Irohazaka Jumping Kid is back and he wants some vengeance. This time in his MR-S which can dominate easily in Nagao Downhill. He drives at an incredible pace and his cornering is sometimes even tighter than Tachi's in Happogahara. He eases up at the straight and a few curves though from CP2 onwards. If you can maintain your line as always, he'll fall eventually. Overall, he's much tougher than his Irohazaka self, but nothing to worry about once you know Nagao well. Opponent No.4: Minagawa Hideo (Level: ★★★★★★★★☆☆) Car: Toyota Supra RZ (JZA-80) Overview: Man, this guy is just like a freaking snake. He lets up on you purposely from CP1 to CP3 onwards just to let the big boost rocket his heavy ass Supra RZ and shoots off over you easily on the last section. However, he's still not impossible to beat. As long as you keep a good line and maintain a high speed pace along a big lead in the process (about 60-90m will do), he's still the loser even if he actually abuse the boost factor. Opponent No.5: Takahashi Keisuke (Level: ★★★★★★★★★☆) Car: Mazda Type-R Effini (FD3S) Overview: This is an overwhelmingly tough opponent. He's no longer as slow as he was in Akina, now thanks to his souped up FD, he can easily out-run you on straights AND on corner if possible. He didn't let up like how Hideo does from the beginning, but rather he go all out from the start to the finish. If you fail to keep up with his pace on straights or out-brake him to close some gaps, he's pretty much impossible to beat. LAST OPPONENT: FUJIWARA TAKUMI (Level: ★★★★★★★★★☆) Car: Toyota Corolla Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex (AE86) Overview: In two words; He's frustrating. In 3 words; he's INSANELY FRUSTRATING. Not only is his Trueno super-fast on Nagao downhill, he's insanely fast on corners and straights. He EVEN managed to run on the gutter in the early section of the course. Don't try to attempt anything risky as dropping your tires on the gutter in general, will stop your car to a turtle 20 km/h instantly and it takes forever to recover your regular pickup speed. If you can somehow keep a tight line and overtake him on straights (his weakness is still straight, despite him improving on straightaway speed-range...), he'll fall back easily to a relieving 70-100m+ advantage. BUT, it's not over yet because he'll take desperate measures in the last CP onward. His car gets a major speed boost from this point and if you're still leading somehow, he will dog you like a rabid wolf. If you are blocking him (regardless of whether it's intentional or not), he'll perform his iconic Blind Attack and shoots off like a rocket to try and pass you. The Blind Attack is his trump card, so if he passes you on this point forth, it's no difference than getting an Instant KO since he no longer lags after passing you on this point. The only thing I can offer as advice is to keep practicing Nagao Downhill until you get a good time and then challenge him. Losing to him is something natural since Takumi is simply an aggravating CPU opponent that never changes unless you've grown as a better driver. SPECIAL OPPONENT: FUJIWARA BUNTA (Level:★★★★★★★★★★) Car: Subaru Impreza STi Ver.V (GC8) Overview: Well, you've waited for it, you've longed for it. Here it is at last...racing against Takumi's dad in Akina Downhill. This guy is pretty much a mixed up toughness in between his Ver.3 and 4 self. in other words, he's an SOB which makes no mistakes and has a phenomenal boost at the last CP during the race (you can feel that just by looking how fast he clear the first 2 curves before the last hairpin on the long straight to the goal...). He eases up at the beginning, so do whatever you can to maintain a good distance (70m+ is the limit, if you can keep this distance, you'll still have a good chance in winning.) Also, like Takumi, he will nail gutter runs at an INCREDIBLE pace that human players almost couldn't possibly imitate. His gutter run speed is even faster than Takumi, so take note on that. If he's hot on your tail and is gaining ground still, he'll be more than glad to ride your bumper and ram the freakin' daylights out of you without hurting his car's stability EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT. It's objectively tough to rank someone who plays as dirty as that, but he's not impossible to beat. The easiest solution is to maintain a sharp pace, avoid kissing any walls or unnecessary stalling. Then you'll have him. Defeating him can give you 20,000+ PTS while defeating him again in a rain battle can give you a whooping 25,000+ PTS. Good luck defeating the REAL Ghost of Akina. I beat Takumi twice before. (at least on loop 1 anyway) He was a real pain in the ass to beat. But as long as you keep your line clean and avoid scraping any walls or dropping your tires to the gutter, you'll still have a chance. The key of winning him has a few factors and one of them is what I take advantage of the most. He eases up A LOT during a smooth U-curve (the one where you can see Mt. Fuji during day) If you can clear that curve nice and clean, you'll most likely pass him on that point. And No, I don't watch Youtube videos of people VS Takumi on nagao. Though I DO watch ALOT of time attack videos in nagao DH from Pros in Japan! | ||

The Aspiring Sprinter Group: Advanced Members Posts: 844 Member No.: 32,890 Joined: May 11th 2009 Location: Malaysia, KL | At gamefaqs.com, I think it's pretty much pointless since people there are quite dull, to be honest. They could've care less about Initial D Arcade Stage 5 while they're already so engrossed to Ver.3 all the time. So I think it's better for this info to be in this forum. Or at least someone kind enough to move this one to the ID5 FAQ Thread if he/she sees fit. I am just planning to help out some info, that's all. I plan to keep these to myself until I feel like sharing it, which I did now. |

I mean even Takumi can't drive blind. He's no Bunta. |

Frankly, I think Takumi in Nagao is somewhat more tougher than Bunta in a way since not all players are THAT familiar with the tricky course like Nagao... :/ Even if Bunta is technically Level 10 in power rankings... |
