Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Current Events > Inital D Arcade Stage 4 BREAK!

Posted by: editor Jan 4 2008, 09:03 AM
You all may have seen my topic, that was moved to Events about rumors of a new update version of ID4.

user posted image

The game has been given an official name, and the web site (see the topic) has been updated with the three new cars and tracks.

My typo about new 'Cards' has turned out to be true as the game will get special ID4.1 cards (very slight change and old cards can be used on the machines.

All the best,

I am typing this from a web server unit so forgive the bad texting - when I said tracks, obviously I mean courses. Though after reading your reply, I see that you knew what I meant.

I have just done a quick search of this site and find NOWHERE the new name 'Initial D Arcade Stage 4 BREAK' referred to any where. The only topic that talks about a new update is the one I started and was moved here!!

Please point me to this topic with the version and name confirmed!? I try and keep the fans updated on the AC news, but if I am wasting my time just let me now and you can have the site all to yourself!

The source that gave us the original steer to the new update version still stands by new courses - that means modifications or totally new courses I don't know, but as he was right on the update I am willing to still given him the benefit on the new courses. okay?

All the best,

Man, I hope our old cards can be transfered, if they decide to bring this new iteration overseas. It would suck to have to buy completely new cards.

do u happen to know what the new tracks are

Posted by: brian mayhem Jan 4 2008, 06:44 PM
From my understanding, there are no new tracks. However, the logical choices for such tracks would be:
  • Momiji Lane
  • Siona
  • An adaptation of Shin Usui
  • Or a Pass taken out of the game that was in Version 3.
However, editor did say that an adaptation of courses might be in store. We'll just have to tune in and see what develops from this insightful information.

Kudos to you, editor.

by tracks i also meant courses... on the internet record for the new version there is no sign of any new courses being added to the game
and when i heard about it the name it wasnt in english ... labeled as AS4 kai, i just automatically figured this meant break in english because i cant read japanese
but yeah it was on testing late last year japan wide, but back then it was called the 1.5 patch...every machine was put on 1.5 for a week or so for testing to see how well it went
and no one bothered to make a topic...just random posts here and there because it is supposed to be released in february or something

Posted by: editor Jan 5 2008, 05:34 AM
Have to correct you there:

- The 1.5 update (again we where one of the first to report it) was purely a ALL.NET update, the new cars were not included at that time, and was house keeping actually installed on ID.Net units (majority of machines in Japan - though the basis of the international release).

- You had said in your complaint about this topic that "..version was named and confirmed a while ago.." but now your saying "...no one bothered to make a topic"!!? That is just plain wrong, especially as I added a topic on the new update in the forum, even after it was moved.

You can now understand the reason why I get so bent-out of shape about revisionist changes to the forum that remove who started a topic. I wanted to avoid posts such as this. Its easy to first say "everyone new that it was confirmed awhile ago", then change to "everyone knew but did not bother", and I am sure will end with "everyone thinks it dose not matter!" When someone claims the majority I always get worried.

To those that sent personal email, thanks for the comments and support of my AC news - I know how hard it is to get arcade information - we are lucky to actually work in the industry and like to pass on what we get. To the rest, lets just talk about the news and stop the nonsense and ego.

- 1.5 update... the new cars were included in the test version, there is video proof of this on youtube - here rx8 on tsukuba played by a japanese player in tsunderacing team http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UT96WNBB7Lw

- i understand it was merely a ALL.NET update, the test was anyway, from what i remember was sposed to be a february release

- and i dont remember you posting anything about the 1.5 patch...to be honest the first i ever saw of it on this forum was when i posted it https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=32168&hl=1\.5

- i never said "everyone knew that it was confirmed awhile ago" or "everyone knew but did not bother" ... the basis of what i said is from me looking at the japanese website and seeing the upgrade thingo, i never mentioned once that everyone knew about it

basically what i posted back in october is pratically what we have seen now, back then it was 1.5 patch and now its whatever its called now
cuz basically all thats been proven it does is add the 3 cars japan didnt have that we did, ability to change the BGM and get rid of the PC glitch technique
even the IR that is set up for it hasnt got any new courses listed... so whether they update the IR for it and add the new courses we shall see wink2.gif
oh and btw...i wasnt complaining, sorry you saw it that way

Sorry I came over so hard-ass.

I have looked over your comments and agree - to be honest I am busy on getting ready for the next big arcade show, and so will just back out of this topic till I play ID4B at AOU.

You have to understand that I am a little touchy on giving information to forums. I have had a number of occasions where I break some news, only for the younger members to BS it, only to then vanish when the information is confirmed. I love those that bad mouth our e-news service claiming it is fake only to try and edit their original post when they find out how big it really is in the trade.

Also I have noticed that news we break on the ID4 forum is used by others, claiming it as their own on other forum sites - especially my MT3 info?

This just fumes me; so I am a little brittle to allegations. The arcade industry is a closed shop, and I know that a lot of fans hate it that some people get information on amusement excluding them. The big arcade show next month a case in point, I know some would kill to get in and would rather sulk or BS information than admit the reality (I also forget the age differences of some members).

Again, thanks for your measured and informative reply, and hope to have more on the game changes after next week.

It is still on location testing and according to news that I have obtained from Japan, all the penalty and understeer cancel has been removed.

Cornering with brakes will be very much like Version 3 style but with an IN-IN-OUT line.

One thing I didn't find out is if the "penalty acceleration is still there" but with the cancels removed, I hope they also got rid of the darn "slowdown" too.

The Japanese version rankings currently are being split. No idea if are they gonna stay that way or will the new version ranking replaces the old one when it is officially released.

oh no new cards, how about the auras?

Posted by: Phoenix_Cypher_K1 Jan 10 2008, 08:44 AM
Thing is this patch is announced for the Japanese versions and not ours yet. So we probably won't get an answer for that question anytime soon.

i hope to god that if and when we do get it...there will be rank levels and aura
thatll be sweettttt

why did they even release it to the world without ranks and auras

QUOTE (toookoooldrew118 @ Today at 9:00 AM)

Because Sega didn't include the online battles (needed that to rank up/aura), and it was definitely laziness on their part not to fix the ranks and auras to be able to be acquired thru In-Store.

Posted by: hongaun Jan 10 2008, 08:44 PM
u mean only battles through online mode is counted for auras acquistion? no wonder nobody plays in store battles then.

Posted by: initialv Jan 11 2008, 07:32 AM
w0rd.. you got that right hongaun
hopefully if they implement auras/etc .. mayyybe just maybe id4 will gain popularity again

Posted by: Cappuccino, 2 sugars Jan 14 2008, 03:10 PM
im getting closer and closer to my aura...my precious w00t2.gif

i can only imagine how difficult it would be to impliment a worldwide network so everyone had online...

Posted by: toookoooldrew118 Jan 14 2008, 03:16 PM
i doubt they would do that. but if they did do something like that i think it would be by nation like how japan is right now. the world is a little too big in my opinion. and there would probly be lag and other issues.

Posted by: n3muru_zha1 Jan 14 2008, 05:44 PM
well..please...jus giv me the aura...depending on the winning percentages or the amount of the battles also can.... crying2.gif

i hope they can hav new courses and LOTS...feel boring sometimes jus to play the 6 courses... laugh.gif

Posted by: Fuzz Jan 15 2008, 03:00 PM
they'll just implement online battles in small regions around the size of japan, depending on the connection between those areas.

Posted by: flowisode_zero Jan 19 2008, 02:37 PM
I could see online battles working between southern Cali, Vegas, and here in Phoenix. Its a pretty short distance and we have 2 locations with ID4 with a third location that has it on order. Im just not sure if 2 of the places are willing to set up for online play.

Posted by: hongaun Jan 21 2008, 09:10 PM
flowisode: was this on the english or jap cabs?

Posted by: flowisode_zero Jan 22 2008, 02:53 AM
Every arcade here in Phoenix has English cabs. I think you read my post wrong based on your response. Im speaking hypothetically, that it could work between these distances.

Yes, i totally missed your point. laugh.gif
Come to think of it. What type of connector do the cabs use for their network connection? BNC ? Rj-45?

if it uses rj-45, *maybe we could hook up an "internal" ID.NET server.... tongue.gif. fear2.gif fear2.gif fear2.gif though it sounds far-fetched...

Posted by: Odie Jan 27 2008, 06:59 PM
But how would you get the server? With just the RJ45 ethernet link, no matter how far away it will still treat it as in store.

We tried doing that with the Japanese machines in HK connecting it over to Japan but they refused connection and there is no way of making our own server without the software from Sega in the first place.

Posted by: RooP Jan 27 2008, 07:28 PM
sounds like battlenet to me. LOL

i personally feel online within our own country is still feasible. but thru out the world would definitely need the software from sega and server config.

and another thing, i dont really think the japanese side would like our "invasion" to their online battle areas.... of which they had already done so with the IR website already...XDDD

fear2.gif fear2.gif

Posted by: shyguy_01 Jan 27 2008, 09:04 PM
if its anywhere else that gets online other than japan, i can see HK getting it smile.gif since there are many arcades with ID4, and the place is not as big as North America

Did you manage to find out why? I guess they blocked out of japan ip addresses. judging from ur postm the cab connects to the network via normal ethernet interface.
Does ISB connect via the same interface too for english cabs?
Is it possible to change the network settings on the cab via its bios system menu? maybe can try use some japan proxies and see if it allows the connection.

too bad there's not jap cabs here in malaysia to test this out crying2.gif

and hope some arcade operators are reading this and willing to help out.

Well new cards are fine but please no error 403 those kinda BS... it really stinks if those kinda programming errors still happen

Posted by: Odie Feb 14 2008, 02:28 AM
It's not a programming error.. it's a hardware design flaw in the card mechanism.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 20 2008, 07:28 AM
So I'm browsing the IDAS4 Japanese site looking for character kanji when I stumble across the news postings on the front page. Considering I've not heard about this nor seen it mentioned on the forums... figured I'd point it out. If you guys already know, then please excuse my rudeness.

Looks like I was beaten to it somewhat, as the IDAS4 Announcements section has a topic about this. Guess it should be merged. I'd like to note that "Kai" does not translate to "Break," however. Kai is an add-on to something to specify that it is "new." For instance, in Gundam, when a new version of a mobile suit design is made they tack "kai" onto the end.

So check this out. Back at the end of December, Sega announced that they were working on a new version of IDAS4 called "IDAS4 Kai" which would mark a milestone in the IDAS4 development. Here are a list of changes, right from the Japanese website:

-Three new cars added. Altezza, RX-8, Eunos Roadster.
user posted image

-(For Initial D.NET only?) Custom Paint. Under the section for new cars is a paragraph mentioning subscribers to INITIALD.NET. It says that aside from colors that come stock from the factory on the car in question, they can make their car whatever color they want. AWESOME. Too bad we international folks are going to get shafted AGAIN! pinch2.gif

-BGM Select. ABOUT TIME! I wanna use Forever Young ALL THE TIME.

-Retuned Physics. It doesn't go into detail about what exactly is changed, but they mention that the entire handling feel of the game has been redone, and the car balance has been reworked as well (they actually say battle balance, but I assume that means car abilities). Maybe this will get some of the players who hated IDAS4 to try it one more time.

And the last post on the page, dated March 12th, says that the final release date for this update is March 24th. Three more days! I really hope that they worked on an International patch at the same time as the Japanese one... and I hope my local arcade updates!!

EDIT: Forgot to put the link to the main page for those who wanna see for themselves:

I keep noticing that people keep mentioning "PC" when talking about going into a turn; would someone explain what the PC means? I may have been doing it on the previous versions of the game and just not realized it. As far as ID4 is concerned, I haven't played it since I was last in Japan, which was this past winter. I wasn't lucky enough to see ID4 Kai, but i hope to play it the next time i'm Japan, which is this summer ^O^

can only hope that it stays PC
