Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Announcement Board > New Management, Part II |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 5 2015, 04:25 PM |
This post will be covering a few changes both major and minor made to the forums in the past couple weeks. First order of business is the last set of staff changes: the mod team. I'll tell you here pretty much exactly what I told all involved parties this past week: As you may have heard in the other announcement thread, we're doing a lot of restructuring with the mod/admin team lately. As we are looking to downsize the team, we will be letting a few of the older mods go in place of new ones. The old team consisted of... kyonpalm Lebon14 OkamiWind sideways Spaz The way the forums are with activity now, we really only need maybe four moderators covering all the forums (which works nicely as we have two admins, so that's basically two moderators per admin which is an ideal ratio). So, since we have two new mods lined up, we have to make way for the shuffle. I'm already nixed as mod since I've become admin, so we only need to move two current moderators out for the new ones. We've spent the last few weeks in hard deliberation over who to let onto the new team, and we're finally ready to make the call. We've come to decide that Lebon14 and sideways will be making way for Kiroshino and Miura Seri. Here's hoping the new mod melting pot jives well. Don't be too hard on the new guys. That's the big news. The little news is a few other minor changes. Here's what's new... • Avatar size limit upgraded from 100x100 to 150x150 • Creation of Special Snowflake user subgroup for everyone else who wants to be different (more changes regarding such clubs in the near future) • New user ranks/titles (see https://idforums.net/index.php?act=boardrules for more) • Updated rules regarding street racing in the Automotive Section specifying targeting of personal street racing videos for the purpose of bragging That's about it. Voice your opinions/grievances here, be heard. |

Thanks, Kyon, I'll do my best! I owe you all a lot, and I hope to return the favor as I take up this position. |

Long time needed. Is there an increase in file size coming as well? There's a lot of users who have huge images/gifs that break current limits...

Missed mine in the last, but it's kind of like in Highlander, there can only be one! :B
I thought that was there already. |

The selection process, from interview to final decision, was one of the most difficult things for us to go through. Everybody that was part of this, know that you all had very strong cases and received quality time in the discussion. Ultimately, only two could make the cut. We were going to make the change alongside Perry's step-down, but decided to take a bit more time to deliberate. To our new moderators, welcome. Kyon and I will be here to help you get used to your new digs. |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 5 2015, 04:48 PM
That's the point!
For comparison, the original rule read as such:
As it was before, people could get warned simply for posting a video like this:
The point of the rule is to keep people from bragging about their own illegal activity on the forums. It'd be silly to try and stop people from posting others' street racing videos for the sake of discussion. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 5 2015, 04:54 PM
No dig, if that's what works, then that's what works, only throwing this out there since the words "ideal ratio" were used. In most cases ( i.e. any hierchial team envirnonment ) it would be somewhere 4-8 to 1. Again, just some real world numbers, in your case it would still be applicable as you are the admin to take care of the mods, while Tessou is the behind the scenes admin. Just wanted to correct the way it was presented. |

Congrats to Kiroshino and Miura for the green badges! |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 5 2015, 05:27 PM
Forgot that part... Congrats guys! And a salute to the mod with the longest stint, Sideways! |
Posted by: BOZZ Jun 5 2015, 09:38 PM |
Congrats to the new moderators! It's going to be different seeing Sideways without the green text. |
Posted by: Falbere Jun 5 2015, 09:45 PM |
THe best part of this thread is when kyonpalm posts his favourite Smokey Supra moments as an example. |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 5 2015, 10:09 PM
Makes me wonder, How much discussing did you have to go threw to not mod me or falbere? Not that we care or anything. |
Posted by: APX Jun 5 2015, 10:33 PM |
Interesting. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 02:42 AM
You were not considered. I don't think there needs to be a discussion as to why. The mods chosen were regarded as the best options out of everybody considered. |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 6 2015, 04:54 AM |
Oh, wow. Didn't even notice. XD Nor did I think I would be selected. Since I have, I'll do my best. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 6 2015, 05:24 AM |
Part III of these threads will be interesting. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Jun 6 2015, 07:07 AM |
Aw congratulations guys! I'm really happy to see that things are moving along. I'm excited to see what we have lined up next. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 09:07 AM |
Literally what? Um, conrgrats Kiro. I had no clue you were even interested. Congrats to you too Mirua. I'd like to turn in my pony badge now and go back to being a purple text, if that's okay. |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 6 2015, 09:35 AM
If I wasn't thought of then, then at least I am now. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 10:13 AM |
So does this now mean that insane drifter guy from Georgia will no longer earn me a red star? Because insane as it is, it is some properly amazing driving. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 6 2015, 10:17 AM
My take on it is that as long as it's not your own recording, it's OK now? |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 10:20 AM |
Seems to be that way. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 10:23 AM |
No, just no. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 10:24 AM
As I interpret the change in the rule, no, it won't earn you a warning. If it's not you in the video, it's kosher. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 10:31 AM |
Thanks Tessou - or whoever fixed my profile. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 10:32 AM
It was me. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 10:44 AM |
How goes the group discussion? |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 10:48 AM |
Plans are in motion. Kyon and I will be rolling out the official criteria for starting special member groups very soon. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 11:02 AM
Disregard the last statement, I inhale dongs. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 11:05 AM |
Done and done. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 11:07 AM |
Can I ask an honest question? |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 6 2015, 11:33 AM
Would you want to ask a dishonest one? |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 12:08 PM |
As opposed to a faseeshus question. Anyway, other than say, dedicated fanclubs or such, what other purpose would special member groups serve in a forum where roughly a dozen people post actively? It's not like we have half a hundred regulars here. |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 6 2015, 03:06 PM
I wasn't. When I was notified about my nomination, I actually rejected it. Imagine my surprise. But yeah, curious about special member groups. Like Rudy has said, we do have to somehow increase traffic to this forum. |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 6 2015, 04:58 PM
None, really. The idea is to let people have some fun. It's not hurting anyone, so why not? |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 05:18 PM |
I can swing with that. I'm just trying to avoid a situation where the only people left who are "normal" members are lurkers. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 6 2015, 05:27 PM
Well, there will be an enrollment process, it's not like anyone just makes one and it's there. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 05:44 PM |
Seems non mod staff are in the know, how does this happen. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 6 2015, 05:46 PM
It was posted earlier in the thread. |
Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Jun 6 2015, 05:51 PM |
Can I start a Keisuke fan club? I'll be the president and probably the only member. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |
Posted by: Lebon14 Jun 6 2015, 06:13 PM |
Congrats to the ones who got the badge. And, yes, I'm back to an ordinary member. I wasn't doing much as a mod anyway. No regrets. |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 6 2015, 06:14 PM
Yes.
Thanks for your service. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 07:13 PM |
I'm shocked and outraged that I wasn't a candidate for a mod position. /sarcasm. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 6 2015, 07:22 PM
APX for mod '16! |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 07:29 PM |
I would say the joke's getting old, but the sad truth is I still occasionally need sarcasm tags to differentiate faseeshusness from seriousness. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 07:36 PM |
Like how to remove yourself from a group? |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 6 2015, 07:41 PM
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=how+to+remove+myself+from+group http://www.lfg.co/ |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 07:55 PM |
He asked to be removed from the group because he thought the MLP Fan group was always some sort of condescending joke. It's not. I smoothed over the misunderstanding earlier today and re-added him to the group. Simple as that. As for creating other groups: we will make them happen if there's enough demand. APX wants his own group? It will happen. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 6 2015, 09:17 PM |
Yes, the whole MLP fangroup and what caused me to lose faith in it is a level of irony not measurable by ordinary devices. |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 6 2015, 10:06 PM
Trap club!! Still need to find more members though. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 6 2015, 10:12 PM |
Find at least three. I already know who those three are. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 10:22 PM |
kyon, failbere and rudy? |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 6 2015, 10:30 PM
Me n falbere would be queens of this club. Yeah lets make kyon n rudy members. ^.^ |
Posted by: Nomake Wan Jun 6 2015, 10:35 PM |
If it were hosted by someone else and had a different philosophy I would considering being a part of it. As-written I'm good being a No Brand Hero. |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 6 2015, 10:36 PM
Whats wrong with me? |
Posted by: Nomake Wan Jun 6 2015, 10:40 PM |
Too attention-grabby. Unclear agenda. Incapable of perceiving aspect ratios. We're just not compatible, dear. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 10:48 PM |
Got eemm |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 6 2015, 10:52 PM
But in the end that wouldn't matter. |
Posted by: APX Jun 6 2015, 11:06 PM
And that's why trap club will not exist on the forum. |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 6 2015, 11:39 PM
|
Posted by: Falbere Jun 7 2015, 04:05 AM |
;_; I demand a trap club!!! I can make the banner if you guys really don't wanna. I just need the font template, and the color tsuki likes. |
Posted by: Seri Jun 7 2015, 06:01 AM |
Well, not like I can help either, Tsuki. My badge prevents that. |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 7 2015, 06:04 AM |
Me neither. Wait... that was the plan all along, wasn't it? |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 7 2015, 06:46 AM
WE'RE WORKING ON IT, GOSH DARN IT. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 7 2015, 07:26 AM
That's a good group to begin with. There as interesting question though, how would mods/admins being part of groups work? Multiple groups? |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 7 2015, 09:24 AM
What did you had in mind? I always like fuschia |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 7 2015, 10:07 AM
I haven't been an admin for a long time, but if I remember correctly, these are just user permission groups for access to different areas of the forum. If you can't make a user a part of multiple user groups, you can probably give individual users access to group areas. It's harder to manage, but doable in small quantities. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 7 2015, 11:46 AM
I was thinking more of the badges than anything else. A moderator would have a mod badge and the group badge? |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 7 2015, 03:27 PM |
That might be possible. I've never tried that before. |
Posted by: APX Jun 7 2015, 04:05 PM |
Or make it more of a 'select one' type of deal, where you are a member of said group/groups but can only be allowed to show it off on the badge, as the rest will be in a signature (somewhat like the awards were, but just text, no fancy image) |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 7 2015, 04:20 PM |
I'll accept and join the trap club if both A: -Kyonpalm heads the group and B: -Tsukikomi accepts me as Atlantic Highway E [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |
Posted by: Nomake Wan Jun 7 2015, 04:50 PM |
>Kyonpalm >Traps Other than a classic like Hibari-kun, I don't think that's his thing... >Atlantic Highway E Atlantic Highway E Grand Ace Original |

Okay Nomake, you lost me yet again. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 7 2015, 06:08 PM
I don't own two Abgrund books for nothing. :^) |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 7 2015, 06:14 PM |
Perry already explored multiple badges. No. Otherwise I'd be in three at once. |
Posted by: APX Jun 7 2015, 06:50 PM |
That's not what I was suggesting tess tess |
Posted by: Falbere Jun 7 2015, 06:56 PM
Sorry ;-; I didn't know. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan Jun 7 2015, 07:01 PM
Oh shit I forgot about that! (Abgrund please come back to the trap side, we miss you so much ;-; ) |
Posted by: tsukikomi Jun 7 2015, 07:56 PM
And together we'll be Tukwila Station Access RD & S Longacres Way |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 7 2015, 11:26 PM
What's the third one? |
Posted by: Falbere Jun 8 2015, 12:06 AM |
Cult of Tessou Administrator MLP Fans |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 11 2015, 10:50 PM
All you have to do is imagine a right bracket before his name. |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 24 2015, 01:20 PM |
Is part three coming soon? |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 24 2015, 01:43 PM |
For what purpose? |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 24 2015, 01:44 PM
For completing the trilogy. |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 24 2015, 02:30 PM
Sorry McFly, this story was just a two-parter. :^) |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 24 2015, 02:45 PM
But I got my popcorn and stuff already... |
Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 24 2015, 02:48 PM
What stuff? |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 24 2015, 03:08 PM
Erm... 3-D glasses? |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 24 2015, 03:11 PM |
The only announcement I can see coming right now is regarding member groups, but that isn't a change of hats, so it won't be a trilogy. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 24 2015, 08:26 PM |
Thus, it wouldn't be a hat trick either. Ah well. Bring on the Shemale Club. Er, i mean Trap Club. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 24 2015, 08:49 PM |
That and I'm thinking of creating an "Auto Guru" group so bonafide wrench guys can have a certificate of authenticity on display. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 24 2015, 08:55 PM |
Jeez, that would be tough for me to decide between that and Pony Fanatics |
Posted by: BOZZ Jun 24 2015, 09:01 PM
Ha ha, I just watched BTTF earlier today! |
Posted by: APX Jun 24 2015, 09:16 PM |
rip my group. |
Posted by: Tessou Jun 24 2015, 09:56 PM |
It is coming. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan Jun 25 2015, 04:23 AM
|
Posted by: Möbius Jun 25 2015, 04:47 PM |
This is a situation where the "Like" button would have been best utilized. |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 25 2015, 05:23 PM
But if we had a "Like" button, quality posts like yours might start disappearing. |
Posted by: Rudy Jun 25 2015, 05:27 PM |
That is true. On the flip side, there wouldn't be constant reminders of the like button (or even a kudos/karma/thanks system) not beino present. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |
Posted by: Kiroshino Jun 25 2015, 05:30 PM |
But that makes up a significant amount of the daily posts! |
Posted by: Möbius Jun 25 2015, 05:34 PM
Everyone knows the Moby goes for quantity over quality! |
