when you listen to eurobeat songs 24/7. Yes, even when you are sleeping.

Posted by: stormfox Apr 27 2009, 09:41 PM
the game draws you in like the dark side...
the game tempts you... gnaws at you... eats at you...
until you sit in the chair and put in some money...
then you go "wtf am i doing"...
but by the time an answer come..
you are already playing...
and it doesnt matter anymore...
.
.
.
until you finish...
then you think "wtf did i just do"

You know You're addicted to ID5 when...

You overreacted to a simple corner when driving IRL.
You drive with one hand and the other on shift stick for some quick shifting action even though you only go at 60 kph.
You drive with a racing line IRL.
You downshift your car BEFORE braking.
You slam your car's brake just to feel the shock from sudden deceleration.
You no longer can act normal/cool when someone happened to tailgate you thus registering that act as a highway/touge battle challenge.
You drive faster when listening to Eurobeat.
Your IRL driving style and pace change when you listen to different eurobeat song.

You ate tofu after you add AE86 to your card.
You ate fried tofu after you add S13 to your card.

1)You listen to Eurobeat songs all day long
2)You can't stop watching other people's TA in YouTube
3)You keep playing to FT one (or more) of your car
4)You just go to the arcade for ID, nothing else
5)You think the streets around your house is mountain roads

11)You keep talking about ID even though your friends didn't listen to you

Never thought i could list that much tongue.gif

Posted by: SonicSP Sep 23 2010, 01:01 PM
1) When you break in real life expecting a powerful boost.
2) You start driving more carelessly in real life, maybe even blocking other people.
3) You try and keep a lining in your real life drive to familiar places. (IE to work or to home, to friend's house)
4) You start controlling gears in your auto car manually. sad.gif (lol both also sequential shift)
5) You run low on money because play ID5 too much.
6) You curse at your car for not going to 120 kmh very fast on non straight road.
7) You think Youtube is a place of nothing but ID5 TA videos.
8) When you cannot get the image of a Trueno Sprinter out of your head and the engine sound out of your ears.
9) When you're wondering why the other real life car is so far ahead of you when you did not press the brake before you start the engine.
10) When you have trouble playing Daytona again despite having done so for 15 years. (I seems to have converted my intuition to suit ID5 but really bad for Daytona......>_>)

You know you're addicted:

Once you start thinking to yourself how tempting the gutters on the road are.

You start blind attacking people just before you pass them, Nighttime or otherwise.

2nd Gear becomes your best friend. Anytime. Anywhere.

I know im Addicted: Because theres once i was in a car and when i was passing the road sign on top, i kept thinking theres gonna be a sound when you cross the checkpoint and add time... pinch2.gif

You know when you're addicted to IDAS, when you start taking shortest line when walking.

When walking, I've this habit of 'cutting' others using shorter lines at corners, then speed up to ditch them. XD

Oh, and you'd know you're addicted when you always check TA rankings on the machines every single time you visit the arcade.

Oh yeah, I do that a lot too. I imagine my school is a touge and always take the shortest line laugh.gif . If I'm using the stairs, I use the handrail to go faster just like a gutter in Akina so that when I go fast, I won't fall.

Yes you did and it certainly is one. smile.gif I didn't do the up-down shift motion as i didn't thought of that( why didn't i?) I fidgeted my body along with the g-force. Like when braking, most of the weight would be shifted to the front, in this case, i fidgeted my body forward grin2.gif

@Saint My friends usually says that too and it certainly looks weird if we put ourselves in their shoes. It's funny in a way. laugh.gif

I go a step further than leaning. My legs are independent suspension pistons that dip the inside down and flex in height to keep my center of gravity stable so i maintain contact with the roa-FLOOR when I'm corneri-GOING DOWNSTAIRS.

I think I have issues. >w<

Posted by: TER~XD Sep 29 2010, 06:22 AM

I hear talk of Shopping cart drifting!

If I may note, shifting the weight does nothing to make it feel like an FF or an FR. It's more like MR or Heavy FR. Since you're pushing from behind, most of the force comes from the rear, essentially giving us a RWD shopping cart.

Don't you just hate the ones that have all four swiveling wheels? Sure they're fun to slalom, but you can't throw them sideways like *that* since we don't have a steering wheel to countersteer.

Well, the shopping carts at Cash and Carry seem tolerable for me when I power slide them around. When I feel the need to make the cart's wheels face in the right direction again, I just tighten my grip on the handle.

And those were the days wherein I'd usually let go of the shopping cart while it's moving, esp. when nothing and no one's in front of me.

Oh, but they do make a difference. I used to shop for gallon-bottles (those 19-liter containers for water dispensers) and if i shop for 2 (meaning, ~38 kg of water), shifting them to the front end of the cart makes it slide a tad easier, a bit like FR cars.

Second type of cart i loathe after those 4-swivel wheels: those unbalanced carts that pull to one side. I can barely countersteer in those.

I thought you would use the water to cool down your engine since it must have overheat even with an air conditioned race track...Inter-Cooler! haha awesome.gif

Not for FF or FR though. Even if the weight was in the back it'd act like an MR or an RR car. Sure it might be easier and predictable up front; but then again, the majority of FF cars have their engines... well, up front. Just like FR cars.

On a side note, simulating a braking weight shift by lifting the rear as you slow down and then swinging it around helps break traction. awesome.gif

I think we need a topic dedicated to Shopping cart drifting.

You know, I thought was the only one who uses drives a shooping cart differently. Even all jokes aside, drifting with a shopping cart is actually practical since your allowed to take a better line which saves you a few seconds.

Not really needed, but it does feel better. Although I have a feeling the shopping cart's tires is getting wayyyyy more tear than any other person would use.....>__>

When the adage "Get your mind out of the gutter!" mean differently to you.

Well, the traction of most shopping carts' wheels is really subpar, they help when you must drift but they are a countersteering nightmare. I'd like to try drifting a rubber-tired shopping cart, though.

There's two kinds around my place, the hard plastic one and the rubber one. The rubber one is usually mounted on the swivel-wheeled ones.

Heck, I do that all the time.

But the ones in the city and the like are all too shallow to actually DO anything. The closest I come to a Mizutoshi is on a winding highway ramp that has a slight elevation difference in asphalt from the main road to the side.

And even then you don't really feel a whole lot.

*Only did that because it was raining, had his tires on backwards, and had little to no sidewall left*

Posted by: Takahashi Rensuke Feb 19 2011, 06:24 PM
malaysia's gutter are way too shallow, or just too narrow that you can't put a tire in... but there are some gutters that don't have lid and there's some space beside that, so it kinda look like tsukuba's

Do forgive me for asking, but how does gutter-drift/mizutoshi work from a physics viewpoint? Does it have a sound theory or it only work because everyone believes on Bunta who believes it to work (a.k.a. Ork-style)?

there's a sound and confirmed theory for it;
if you look at it from a cross-section view,
you notice as the car is inside the gutter, the car will be tilted.
and you know as a car drifts, the weight will be distributed to the side opposite of
the direction the car is attempting to go to
,
(e.g if car drifts to the right, weight will all be pushed to left side)
as a result, that explains why we can't attack a corner at a ridiculous speed,
we will crash to the railings as all weight will be pulling us to the side

that's where gutter drift comes in,
as your car tilts into the gutter to the direction your car is attempting to drift to,
the weight will be distributed to that part,
(e.g if car drifts to the right, THIS TIME, weight will all be pushed to right side)
that's why we can attack the corner at a faster speed since we are assured that
our car won't get pulled off into the railings so easily, PROVIDED you know how to
control your car in the gutter (it's pointless if you scrap the gutter while attempting
to drift inside it, you will only slow down your car and destroy the tyre and chassis)

P.S one very easy way to test this theory, time yourself running down a flight of stairs with sharp corners, a good place would be multi-storey buildings, the first run would be not holding the handrails, then the next run would be with holding the handrails, just try it, and you will know what i mean (^ Д^)/

to summarize what kel said, which means gutter run is the best way to overcome g-force on a curve (that's the first part of gutter run).

the second part of gutter run which takumi used on ryousuke was using the g-force to his advantage, since the apex of the curve has the highest g-force, it creates a "slingshot" effect when you get out the gutter with perfect timing...

for no reason... your feet will move as if they are stepping on the gas and brakes sometimes...

there is an urge to move the arms and simulate spinning the steering wheel once in a while...

a simulated ID run in your mind or watching an ID video triggers all of the above

Lolbump. Not that it's relevant or something.

... when you start to remember that anime with the cute curly brunette main character as Hanasaku Irohazaka.

... when you start rotating your body even before you 'clear' a turn. While walking. Bonus point if it's a 180-degree blind turn.

... when you listen to Eurobeat on the bus and the bus started to drive erratically, you expected the bus to drift at any point.

You know u're addicted to ID5 when u want to attack a gutter at the corner when seeing it even though u're only driving 2 wheelies, LOL.

Posted by: SonicSP Jul 18 2011, 11:23 AM
Since this section of the forum has become part ID6 as well, thought of just putting some of those here.

ID5

1) After having drived for awhile, you feel like your car would drastically slow for no reason.

2) You brake, thinking it would give you a sudden boost of acceleration after you let go.

ID6

1) When you start seeing the word "DRIFT" next to your tachometer in your real car. blink.gif

2) When you start seeing gold and silver holograms on the roads.

3) You try and drift your car with as sharp as a turn as possible because you think it would gain magical speed as you do it.

4) When you think a real AE86 Trueno is one of the most overpowered cars ever to traversed the roads.

5) You push your car harder in rain, because you think water slows it down; and that its just as stable as normal anyways.

Both

1) You pretend to hold a steering wheel while sitting casually with family and friends, and turning said wheel sharply all over.

2) You curse after hitting the wall while driving in real life, because it made you lose a few seconds rather than because your car got dented.

3) Your wondering what happened to your digital white speedometer as you drive your car.

4) When your try to float over gutters by driving on them at a speed of over 80 km/h.

5) If someone is blocking you on the road at night and you want to pass him, you close your lights.

6) When you start thinking that all manuals are sequential shifts with no clutches.

7) You drive in a cross-lane lining in when you approach road turns (this one actually happened to me; its become a bad habit facepalm.gif).

Posted by: alvinkei Jul 18 2011, 05:29 PM
- when you approach a corner, u press brake once, turn, and then accelerate immediately hoping that your car will swing at a sharp corner

it happened to me once when going down the 1u carpark from 5th floor.. after playing for 2-3 hours .. almost bang the wall.

Posted by: BaneX Jul 18 2011, 05:39 PM
Good heavens i dun own a car, but when i taking cab, i half expect the drivers to stat burning tyres and turn hairpins.

My mp3 plays nothing but eurobeat nowadays, man my wifey hates it but you see her face she know she cant say anything but tolerate

Yes, OU 5th floor carpark is always empty on weekdays. Which makes for fun driving through and creative shortcut linings.

Fortunately for me, I've always been more of a grip person for safety and non skill reasons. lol
