So, Chris Evans is the new host of a new group for the show, will I watch it? Yes, only to see how it goes, but no matter what, the first season will be shitty, it's the 'getting to know each other' phase for the hosts and for the audience.

QUOTE
Chris Evans says: “I’m thrilled, Top Gear is my favourite programme of all time. Created by a host of brilliant minds who love cars and understand how to make the massively complicated come across as fun, devil-may-care and effortless. When in fact of course, it’s anything but and that’s the genius of Top Gear’s global success.

“I promise I will do everything I possibly can to respect what has gone on before and take the show forward.”

Ratings will be shit, anyone involved with the new version will face lots of hate and backlash. Doomed from the start.

At least it's somebody that knows their shit. He was featured in a segment in an earlier season when James visited him to drive his insanely rare Ferrari 250 California.

Yes, but will he be a posh person "Well, you know with this car, blah blah blah" being correct and everything, or will he be like the old olds, a bit correct, but with lots of sarcasm/witty remarks.

But first season will be a shit storm of a ride, and we'll see if that 3 year contract will become a one year contract.

Here's the countdown to doomsday.

That's the mindset that kills shows without giving them a chance.

That's the majority of the top gear fans mindset.

I'll still see the first season to see how awful or decent it will be, like i said before, it won't be great, because the hosts need to get to know eachother ifront of the camera, to see how much they can push each other without going over the line, I don't think they'll be able to do it as they made fun of hamsters american teeth.

I like how a Google search of "Chris Evans" brings up images of Captain America. :/

I'm not too familiar with Chris Evans, but we'll see how he does.

At first when I saw the headline I thought that they hired THAT Chris Evans and I was thinking how absurd it would be if that was true.

Finally, Top Gear without the tranquilizing trio. I can get behind this.

The "tranquilizing trio" get trio made the series bearable. This would never work if the fans have their say.

I'd be awaiting the trio to start their new show! wonder how they are gonna go with it, be like top gear, or more on the road, no in the studio except for celeb in a car time.

It is going to suck, though.

They won't be as good. TG America isn't as good, TG Australia sucked except for maybe two episodes. TG Russia didn't really work either. I'll be fair to Evans, I think he can be entertaining, I think he has what it takes, give him the right co-stars and he could make it work. The BBC will hold it back.

I hope they don't make the mistake of making it a car show again. The Vietnam episode was in many ways their coming of age moment. Wilman actually apologized for making something that is not a car show. Still it was hugely popular, and one of my favorites. I hope Netflix can hire enough camera gurus. Living up to the cinematography TG had is a tall order. Likewise I hope the Beeb retained enough that they can continue to make something beautiful.

As a side note, I really want to see the unaired footage that will probably never see the light of day.

They are okay, Faust would be a good cohost for the trio if they allow him to... New "stig" maybe. :3

Part of me wants to believe that the Top Gear UK that Rudy thinks is boring is actually the original pre-2000s one.
