I swapped in a Gen4 3SGTE while retaining the stock transmission (S54). WireGap did my plug and play harness and PR1ME Performance built the installation kit. Suspension isn't anything special just Prothane bushings, new ball joints and S-Tech springs. Bodywork and paint was done by Baddline Customs and Collision in Portsmouth, VA. Took these at Little Island Beach this morning. inb4 needs moar low / lose the lug nuts. Image size reduced, original size: 1000 x 669. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Just a guy towing a car across the country to chase a dream. Lower than that with an MR2 would scare me. |

Anyone who tells you to lower the car any more than it already is is too concerned with DOPE and not concerned enough with DRIVING their car. We do have a few members like that, but fortunately the majority recognize how stupid such a suggestion is. This post has been edited by Nomake Wan on Oct 22 2013, 03:08 AM |

The problem with MR2s too low isn't snap oversteer, it's the fact that the tire physically runs out of room to move because it hits the bottom of the frame or the fender. I had to get my front frame spot welded and flattened so it wouldn't scrape in fast corners. And I had to take the fender liners out, which I didn't really want to do, either. But that gave me room to pull the fenders out a bit for better clearance. I can't go any lower in the rear because the shock adjuster knob (which is on the bottom of the shock) would touch the drive shift boot. If I wanted to go lower I would need to get shorter shocks and shorter, stiffer springs, which isn't going to happen. I might get stiffer front springs for better steering response and less roll, though. Btw, T-tops FTL (hardtops or nothing!), and horrible color. But nice bodywork and wheels. I'm not going to be picky when the car was given to me. I used to have a black turbo Miata that got rear ended 3 times because the drivers "didn't see" it.
I didn't make it. I wanted to but couldn't get away from the house. | ||||
