Why do you think I'm president of the Gay Men's Club for Manly Men? It's ok. I'm sure it will be fun when I am forced to step down from my presidency once I start installing singular components worth more than the value of some of the cars people are driving here. Laugh it up- you'll be part of the club someday too. Nomake's definitely been there more times than he cares to remember, <cough> 'touge taxi' <cough> The car dieties often give no warning.

Stop reminding me. Yes, I had a pitiful N/A Legacy, a pitiful PT Bruiser and a pitiful Touge Taxi. But hey, at least they were reliable? 'Sides, I only made 120 to the wheels in the Z so even hacking up a lung your car kicked my ass. Can't say much about that. Spaz, here's wishin' you luck on the Evo. Damn thing seems to be cursed so you'll probably need all the luck you can get.

Me and a buddy slapped that 12psi around the right way tonight and it now reads 21. And I was right, the line to the WGA was completely empty; no pill. The one remaining issue, my 1G BOV seems to be forcing open now and causing power to cut out every once in a while, so I'll have to break out the vice and increase that spring load. Also happened to find out when we pulled the ROM down to EcuFlash, that the so-called tune on the car was a bit extra timing in the top end... and that's it. AMS's dyno must read really high (which would be odd, because DynoDynamics dynos usually put out realistic numbers), because there's no way this car'll make anywhere near 292 actual. In shootout mode, maybe. As for that boost gauge, it's sitting in the glove box for the time being |

Just a guy towing a car across the country to chase a dream. Group: FORUM MODERATOR Posts: 9,272 Member No.: 30,193 Joined: Jul 25th 2008 Location: Plymouth, MN | So, I started off today with two simple tasks; change the oil, and make the car louder. In short, I succeeded at both! So, as some of you may remember, a buddy of mine rolled his Evo VIII this past April. Yes? No? Oh well. Here's the exhaust that's now on my car: Well, kind of. That downpipe, that catback, but for the time being there's a high-flow cat in there because he sold the test pipe. I'll be making my own here once I can get measurements off the high-flow. Anyway, pics of the tremendously fun process: Image size reduced, original size: 1024 x 683. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. I'm even smiling! Image size reduced, original size: 1024 x 683. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. MMMmmm, not rusty exhaust! Image size reduced, original size: 1024 x 683. And yes, it's supposed to stick out like that. It does look kinda odd, but I'll be the first to tell you I won't mind the lack of soot on my bumper. And for the oil change, we'll just call it "Going against the convention": Image size reduced, original size: 1024 x 683. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Overall, a nice, productive day. I don't have any clips of the exhaust yet, but I'll try to get something within the next couple days. Pretty much hinges on me locating the handheld camera... |

Of course. I'm not going to waste good money on something that'll look like my stock stuff did in a couple years. We needed heat to get the bolts out when we broke the old stuff down, the impact couldn't do it alone.

I'm still trying to locate our decent video camera for 720p goodness. I could use my old point and shoot, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait to not have 320x240 video.

The mic on that camera sucks, it really doesn't catch the low frequency sound that really makes the car sound vicious. That parking ramp was awesome though. I definitely hung the back end for a few seconds there, the concrete wasn't the grippiest. I'll have to roll through with the camera and set off some car alarms one of these days, the resonation was amazing.

Fixed! But then again, most onramps are just the right length to do a 0-100 pull, followed by a hard brake down to the speed limit as I merge... The real advantage to NLTS is that I'm not going to be wreaking havok on the driveline every hard shift.

Touché! Onramps are fun, especially if you have a Bimmer trying to 'gate.

I don't think we're on the same page... I'm talking about the straight entrance ramps. It would be kinda hard to hit the speed limit by the end without shifting at least once. I don't shift on cloverleafs, I rev-match down as I approach them.

Just a guy towing a car across the country to chase a dream. Group: FORUM MODERATOR Posts: 9,272 Member No.: 30,193 Joined: Jul 25th 2008 Location: Plymouth, MN | Well, I've got everything on the ROM working the way I want it to now. Rear O2 CEL has stayed off, NLTS is set such that you barely even feel the shift (but the tires do!), and the stationary rev limit is perfect for off the line spoolage. I should be good for this weekend save for that pesky power cut-out. But I think I have that one figured out too. The boost leak test tonight revealed that I do indeed have a leak, but it's a very minor one at the turbo outlet flange, and the piping still holds decent pressure for an acceptable length of time (no boost leak is acceptable in reality, but it's nice to know it's only minor). It dawned on me that I still haven't replaced the plug wire a buddy and myself somewhat destroyed when we did the compression test, so I'm replacing plugs, wires, and coil boots tomorrow. That being successful, Sunday = timeslips. |

Evo's got the shaft while STi's got to stay in BSP. At the pro solo tour in DC last week, just about every BSP Evo was advertised for sale pending season completion. Gotta love getting dicked over =/ |

Yeah, I f**king heard. Almost threw my phone through the window. My car won't be locally competitive in either SM or ASP without serious money, and I'm not looking to spend $3k on coilovers for STU. So at this point, it's looking like I'll just be out there to have fun.
