QUOTE
WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. and Justice Department prosecutors are investigating whether front-office officials for the St. Louis Cardinals, one of the most successful teams in baseball over the past two decades, hacked into internal networks of a rival team to steal closely guarded information about player personnel.

Investigators have uncovered evidence that Cardinals officials broke into a network of the Houston Astros that housed special databases the team had built, according to law enforcement officials. Internal discussions about trades, proprietary statistics and scouting reports were compromised, the officials said.

So, a boring sport get's it's first team to do something stupid. And much like football, the owner of the team is good friends with the baseball commissioner. Let's see how he will punish the team, it's quite sad and embarrassing for the team to be caught doing something like this. facepalm.gif

Baseball is a great game, so long as you're physically at the ballpark and you have a beer or six in hand.

Corruption in sports is nothing new. This shit happens frequently in baseball.

Corruption, yes, but it's more about a single player/ring of players on different teams. (Steroids/betting/throwing a game) but nothing as big as this where a whole team, teams name will be tarnished.

It is, but as Tess said, it's somewhat fun, I went to a dodger game back in the 3rd grade for a end of the year field trip, it was real fun, specially since my family was with me and my friends, just depends on who you go with and who the team plays against.

I prefer basketball, but I'm sure going with friends would make any outing worthwhile.

Also, baseball in Japan is awesome.

Baseball outside of the MLB is also pretty good, as the teams aren't typically beset by stupid drama that comes with it. Yes, in the end you're watching guys hit a ball with a stick and run around in a square, but people wouldn't be playing if it wasn't fun.

I could say the same about every sport that's nationally televised. I never understood why people that play a game for a living are making seven figure salaries, while people doing actual work are mostly trapped in the middle class.

Because they're celebrities.

One or two players in a team are "celebrities". Name more than five players in the Green Bay Packers offhand. Explain why those people deserve that kind of salary for throwing a ball around on tv for a few hours.
