Kanon

Negima! (If it's a remake)
Busou Renkin (Watsuki biggrin.gif)
RED GARDEN ( o_O )

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dammit, the internet is going to DIE from this season's downloads to my computer. >.>;

Comments:

-ANOTHER Negima!? Now, I haven't seen the first... but... wow. Just wow. Where's AI Love You, Akamatsu-sensei!?!?

-Gift Gift reminds me of Shuffle and Da Capo in one. That's win. I'll have to check it out.

-KANON ZOMG

-Death Note being done partially by KyoAni makes sense--Death Note characters appeared in the last episode of FMP:TSR.

-Galaxy Angel II... yet another series to add to my growing GA collection...

-SRWOG: About time. I saw the OVA and... um... yeah. Hopefully the TV series will be tons better--and maybe feature that one mecha I can't find anywhere; FALKEN~!

-Strike Witches: Finally! An explanation for all those pics on my PC of girls with wingless WWII aircraft!

Very cool--thanks for the update.

Posted by: Sickness Jul 28 2006, 05:56 PM
Kanon seems interesting since KyoAni is doing the production. Galaxy Angel II (Watched the last 2 seasons but need to watch GA Season X) seems interesting too because it might contain the game storylines from the PS2 game. Anything else is just meh. whistling.gif

From AQS's translator, Sushi-Y

Negima!? anime:

Think of it as psuedo-Negima. The characters are the same, but the story and settings are probably not related to the manga Negima at all.

From those two pages on Negima!? in the ch145 scans, we learned a few things:

1) According to rumors, 3-A's students will each have multiple cards. Unlike the pactio cards of the original manga (which is basically a tool used to summon artifacts), the cards that appear in Negima!? will each have specialized abilities. You can see some of the cards in the background.

2) New characters(?) will be making an appearance. Namely, those two odd plush dolls on the first page.

3) Notice that the anime is going to be airing in an afternoon slot (5:30PM) under TV Tokyo (notorious for their strict rules over anime contents "not suitable for children"). This immediately shows that this is going to be a much more "all-age" anime aimed at a mainstream audience.

Negima!? manga:

According to the newest information from Shonen Magazine and Comic Bonbon, as well as MOON PHASE, a new Negima manga based on the upcoming new Negima anime, "Negima!?", will begin serialization on the November issue the monthly magazine "Comic Bonbon", also owned by Kodansha.

The mangaka will be Fujima Takuya of Essentia. An artist who's active in both the commercial manga business, as well as doujin productions. (His drawing style tends to be kind of ero-moe, but retaining a really clean look) I've seen his art from "EVE~ New Generation~" on CompAce, it's quite nice. (For some reason, I really want to see how he draws Takamichi ^^; )

Comic Bonbon is targeted towards elementary school-age readers, so the contents of this manga should be quite "all-age".

(Why they would hire an ero-moe artist to work on a manga targeted at elementary school-age readers is beyond me though ^^; )

The new series starts October 4th

Got it off GFAQs

Add two more shows to my list... Weird about the Negima... so that means the new anime is completely new... weird... Oh well not too surprising about the new mangaka... since Akamatsu did doujinshi before becoming a mangaka....

EDIT: Wait a minute... I noticed something at wikipedia...

Looks like we have another one coming.

EDIT 2: Hold on for a sec, again at wikipedia

The new special for the TV series Rozen Maiden is set to premiere in winter 2006 titled, “Rozen Maiden Ouvertüre.” Set as the prequel to the TV series, it is often speculated that this special will focus on the character Suigintou. In addition, ALI PROJECT will once again lend their talents for the opening.

Well, this defeats my original reply...

I never quite understood the popularity of Rozen Maiden, what's so good about it?

I'm kind of disappointed that Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni won't have an expansion of sorts, such as an OVA, since the story covered by the animation is about 3/4's of the game story... sad.gif

I'm going to list anime series that I've seen that are out and by what fansub groups that I know of.

The new wave of shows washed in last week, and per usual as of late, half of them are slightly unimpressive or impressively unsightly, take your pick.

After the disappointing, although nicely animated, Gundam Seed ripoff Code Geass, the flock of unoriginal love comedies, the usual mediocre ero-game adaptations, the quirk-offs like Galaxy Angel and Hitman Reborn, and the aesthetical comatose Pumpkin Scissors and D.Gray-man. There are a couple of shows that stood out for me.

Death Note - What can't be said that already hasn't. The show is dialogue, or thought-heavy. So far they've done a great job keeping the atmosphere. On the Death Note thread, xkhol mentioned that they should stop the anime half way. I agree with all my heart. Death Note is a great manga, and the anime follows suit, but concerning the second half of the story. I doubt anyone cares for a pajama-clad fifteen year old Sherlock that solves Raito's gradually unintelligent shenanigans. As far as I'm concerned
Near and Mello never existed, and Raito never died.

Red Garden - Haven't watched it, probably won't. The plot just doesn't catch my attention, but for the ten seconds that I saw it, it looks pretty good.

Souten No Ken - Fist of the Blue Sky. What do you get when you put Kenshiro of FotNS in an episode of Crying Freeman? Well, you get a show that's rough around the edges, but softly whispers in your ears, “お前はもう死んでい。” Then the ending credits roll to the foreshadowing backdrop of Kenshiro in a desert. By the way, after the touching ending theme, your head explodes grin2.gif

009-1 - The art should be a complete trip down Ishinomori lane. The story is nicely executed, and the best way to describe it is to have James Bond impregnate Anne Parillaud, then watch as the child is brought-up by Go Nagai's spiritual father. In other words, it's good.

Kanon - So I watched the Toei Kanon some weeks ago, and they're not even on the same level regarding style and animation. This revamped adaptation is in every way the ideal Kanon anime, lest they choose not to follow Ayu's path, which is very unlikely. And now to completely contradict myself. My eyes were a little irritated by the end of the episode, so instead of Visine I used Tabasco sauce. Because frankly, watching paint dry is much more arousing. If you're a fan, dig in! But it's just not my thing.

Irohanihoheto - Kenshin + Samurai Champloo + Sunrise, divided by a block of dry wood. If you're into samurai, old Japan, or any of the Last Blade SNK games, you'll like this show. If you're like me, you're better off watching reruns of 24.

Saikyou Kenichi - Did you like Eyeshield 21? Do you like karate? Did you like the girls in Amaenaideyo? Does punching tatami mats while yelling Bruce Lee catchphrases make you excited... why are you wasting your time answering my questions? Go watch it now, this show's flippin awesome.

A couple of more anime are still set to air during this month, and quite a bit more from November onwards. Some are definitively worth noting, some not. It wasn't my intention to put down any show you may have recently gotten into. Hope this little review was helpful, and keep a look out for certain gems set to air in the forthcoming months.

Engage Planet Kissdum

It's the year A.D. 2031, and humans continue with their progress and prosperity. However, they witness the appearance of an extraordinary lifeform "Hadian". One day, this lifeforms suddenly multiplied and started attacking humans. The organisation in charge of researching this lifeform, the N.I.D.F., sent out their pilots to take on the invasion. On the other hand, the researchers at N.I.D.F. discover the "Dead Man's Book" and attempts to solve its mysteries, which probably has something to do with the Hadian invasion.

Coming: Spring 2007

Notable information: Two Mix is doing the OP for this series.

Idolmaster Xenoglossia

user posted image

Originally a penny arcade game where you manage a girl into the idol stardom, that is until Sunrise got a hold of it, and added mecha. Not much on the story is really known aside from this but it has Yui Horie in one of the main roles so it's got to be good. tongue.gif

Here is my list!

Gift ~Gift~ eternal rainbow
Kanon
Yoakemae Yori Ruri Iro Na Crescent Love
Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch
Otome Hao Anesama Ni Koi Shiteru
Asatte No Houkou
Mamoru Kun Ni Megami No Shukufuku Wo!
Galaxy Ange II
Tokimeki Memorial Only Love
Negima!?
Soukou No Strain
RED GARDEN
Finalist
Sumomomomomo ~Chijyo Saikyou No Yome~

Most of the time, I'm attracted by the graphics. Too, I'll be able to fill up a good part of my *new* 200 GB HDD with those animes. He he. Thanks to xiao_la for the infos and images.

Ummm... that was last/current season... unless you meant to post that in the Anime Recommendations thread... tongue.gif

Posted by: xiao Jan 31 2007, 03:37 PM
Thanks for the bump BOZZ, I'm definitely anticipating Kissdum. Sorry about the lack of updates, work's been busy and I've been catching up on new literature... well, technically anyway (Fate/Zero ftw!) Last season there was quite a lot of eroge adaptations, this season manga seems to be the motif. As usual, visit http://www.moonphase.cc/Html/anime.html for more info regarding new anime. Here's two shows I'm highly looking forward to.

user posted image

Name: Hellsing OVA III
Date: ????
Note: As BOZZ mentioned in the Hellsing thread, the release date has been postponed. Could it be lack of sales, animator problems, or management issues... who knows. But when it does come out, let's hope the quality stays on par with the previous two. I'd hate to see a great project like this end up like Shin Getter Robo. Here's hoping for the best.

user posted image

Name: Wangan Midnight
Date: ????
Note: Adaptation of the popular highway racing manga. According to the Japanese wikipedia, the Wild Speed X3 Tokyo Drift DVD came with some info about the Wangan animation... I wouldn't hold my breath. Lots of times anime companies lose sponsors halfway through production, and they have no choice but to put their project on indefinite hiatus. I'm not saying this is the case, as we have yet to hear any news from Young Magazine, but a spring season air date appears unlikely. Keep crossing those fingers.

Reserving spot... Going to be posting a listing in a few minutes of shows that are upcoming and what not...

Here's a bit of an index of some shows that are airing in the upcoming season:

My personal favourites (and shows I will be watching) are:
  • Claymore
  • Reideen
  • Zero no Tsukaima
  • Hayate the Combat Butler
  • Seto no Hanayome
  • Nagasarete Airantou
  • Idol Master Xenoglossia
  • Engage Planet Kissdum

Shows that I'll mostly likely watch are probably be Zero2, Lucky Star, Nanoha and Devil May Cry. Although I'm more eagerly awaiting the sequels to Haruhi and Higurashi later on in the year though! XD

Also if wanna check out who's gonna sub what, then you should visit http://www.andrewlb.com/fansub/pukiwiki.php?Spring%202007 too wink2.gif

Posted by: InitialDRulz Feb 2 2007, 05:08 AM
hmmm......Devil May Cry definitely. however, i saw from the magazines that Toykopop are doing the Devil May Cry. so i'm still going maybe maybe with it

Don't hesitate, I am pretty sure, no make that 100% sure, that Tokyopop has nothing to do with the anime.

Posted by: InitialDRulz Feb 2 2007, 04:40 PM
actually. i saw the manga. it says Toykopop on the side like Initial D did, so i'm sure it has something to do with it.

Posted by: BOZZ Feb 2 2007, 08:15 PM
That's the manga... Tokyopop doesn't work on anime any more, and will most likely have nothing to do with the anime aside from perhaps cross promotion.

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Feb 3 2007, 04:50 AM
Yea Tokyopops got nothing to do with the anime, well... not yet at least, maybe a future license, but that's still quite a long shot imo, as bozz already mention they don't really do anime anymore...

In fact the only companies menionted working on the anime thus far are just Madhouse Studios, WOWOW (broadcasting), Capcom and the Devil May Cry Production Committee...

Posted by: BOZZ Feb 3 2007, 01:16 PM
I wouldn't put it past Geneon to be involved as well... or maybe Sony, as it is a really well known title.

Oh, and Brocko, it's not a long shot, it's not going to happen at all, Tokyopop has gotten out of the anime game, they don't license anime anymore. GTO/Initial D were their last major anime licenses.

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Feb 3 2007, 05:32 PM
Okay as it's starting to get abit off topic in here imo, any further discussion of the Devil May Cry anime should be posted in it's respective https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=25181&hl=devil+may+cry wink2.gif

BTW i just noticed something when i was checking out who's subbing what, http://www.andrewlb.com/fansub/pukiwiki.php?Spring%202007. Just scroll down about half-way and look! There's going to be a Ninja Turtles anime! lawl! That's gonna be interesting XD

Posted by: BOZZ Feb 4 2007, 11:41 PM
Yeah, I noticed that too, I think there is like an episode of TMNT listed on AnimeSuki as well.

Posted by: BOZZ Apr 7 2007, 07:30 AM
So what shows are on everyone's plate for this season? I think mine is filling up really quickly with these shows:
  • Hayate the Butler
  • Lucky * Star
  • Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
  • Reideen
  • Nagasarete Airantou (might not keep up with it since I've read 4 volumes of the manga)
  • Seto no Hanayome (same reasoning as the above)
  • Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha Striker S
  • Idol Master Xenoglossia
  • Claymore
  • Terra e
  • Kissdum ~Engage~
  • Kishin Formula
  • School Days

So I got roughly 4 hours per week of stuff to watch hehehe... I'm probably at the very least keep up to date on Hayate, Idolmaster, Engage, Formula and Lucky Star.

http://randomc.animeblogger.net/2007/06/18/summer-2007-preview/

Omni over at Random Curiosity did a bit of a preview of some of the shows airing this summer... Take a gander at the above link...

Looks like I got about 2.3 hours worth of new shows to watch hehehe...

I'm personally looking forward to Nanatsuiro Drops, School Days, Zero no Tsukaima 2, When they Cry 2, Tokyo Maijin Gakuen Tenpuchou (gonna have to finish the first season before I touch this one), Moetan, and Doujin Work (how can you go wrong with a series that has a character actually named Justice!?).

Posted by: awdrifter Jun 18 2007, 12:37 AM
Finally, more Higurashi! Yes! biggrin.gif

Posted by: BOZZ Jul 2 2007, 05:47 PM
This is hilarious, Moe-tan, the series being aired later this summer, is based off a Japanese book for learning English with all sorts of moe art contained within. The anime is apparently a mahou shoujo series, what's the real kicker is that main character is voiced by the same lady who voiced Nanoha from Lyrical Mahou Shoujo Nanoha/Nanoha A's/StrikerS.

Yay! New buzzer beater smile.gif I love that anime since i'm into basketball even though it's kinda unrealistic

looking thru the 1st page where posts were from 2005, is it possible that some anime never did come out? i found most on animenewsnetwork, though animenews network failed me for the first time, the anime "finalist" was not listed, even the site myanimelist listed no episodes

Yeah, N1 was saying that FMP was following a pattern of a series every 2 years or so, I think we are supposed to be in line for one this year...

Posted by: nivek Jun 12 2008, 12:54 AM
from what I've heard they say that the light novels of FMP are going to be finished by the time they release another season. (or are light novels already finished?) I haven't heard the update of the light novels anymore, I was stuck at COMO, because tokyopop licensed the light novels and I couldn't find any english translated novels on the internet anymore.

Yeah, I think the FMP novels are finished or nearly finished.

There's another one coming out in 2009 and it's hinted to be the last, but there's no real support to back up that claim (or at least, I don't think there is). Personally, I'd like to see the novels translated (either by fans or by TokyoPop) before the new anime series. I mean, some people was translating Volume 8 (of the main storyline), but then they quit about 2/3 of the way through. *sigh* From the looks of it, we'll have to wait until TokyoPop releases their versions because all the groups stopped translating once the novels were licensed. I really don't mind TokyoPop translating, it's just that at the rate they're currently going, it'll literally be years before they're up-to-date. They've been releasing for about a year now, and they've only got 3 volumes out.

Personally, I don't like thinking about FMP! because I'm always left with a bit of an empty feeling inside. We (English speakers) haven't had any new FMP! content (The TokyoPop novels don't count since they were already available online. And no, Lucky Star references do not count, either.) since the last installment of the Volume 8 translation was released by RavynPhoenix about 15 months ago. Honestly, it'll be faster to just learn Japanese and buy the novels from amazon.co.jp or someplace . . . You know, this actually makes me regret fooling around when I first started learning the language a few years ago, because I have no idea what's going on in class now. Yup. I regret not being able to read Japanese light novels, but I don't regret getting shitty grades. Shows just how mature I am, right? rolleyes.gif

Posted by: BOZZ Sep 8 2008, 08:15 PM
Oh well on the bright side, they could do another FMP series that covers what's left...

Posted by: Nappy Hared Azn Sep 8 2008, 08:23 PM
They could, but I'd rather have them wait until the novels are finished. So far, every single novel (that hasn't been animated yet) has ended on a pretty major cliffhanger, so if they decided to make a new season now and then wait another few years to resolve the cliffhanger, I'd be even more devastated.

Of course, this is all pretty off-topic and doesn't belong here. Maybe I should make a thread called "ITT: Nappy b*tches about KyoAni" where we can all b*tch and moan about how Kyoto Animation needs to stop animating Key games and start pumping out FMP! and Haruhi. laugh.gif

Posted by: BOZZ Sep 8 2008, 08:32 PM
Well, worse comes to worse, there at least 2 more Key games that could get animated... The one I want to see animated and the one N1 wants to see animated.

Posted by: awdrifter Sep 10 2008, 07:30 PM
Except for Clannad After Story and Biohazard Regeneration, nothing else (so far) in the next season interests me. Looks like I might have to catch up on some of the previous season's shows.

Thoughts? Anything you guys plan to watch? Here goes my thoughts:

Asu no Yoichi - Sounds like a decent comedy. I'm waiting on AnimeYoshi so haven't seen any episodes yet.

Akikan! - The plot seemed like a bore, but I watched the first episode anyway. I wasn't impressed with the first episode, not a whole lot to offer. Only positive was Lelouch's voice actor. Was kind of odd to see him in a role of a pervert.

Maria+holic - Plan to watch. Got the first episode downloaded, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

White Album - My first shojo, and so far so good. Definitely the early winner of the Winter 09 season. The plot is really well crafted, and the main male character seems to have some issues. Though despite his issues the girls just keep coming to him.

Kurokami - Plan to watch, but no download yet.

Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo - Doesn't look like it'll be a good one. It seems Lelouch's voice actor wasn't making good choices this Winter. He's found in this anime as an AI, and again the only positive. Only seen one episode, so we'll see how it goes.

So any shows you guys are looking forward to coming out this season?

I'm particularly looking forward to the Valkyria Chronicles series, this other show called Shangri-La (it's going to be aired on CrunchyRoll) and Pandora Hearts.

Posted by: outlaw-2 Mar 24 2009, 06:24 AM
Eh? Valkyria Chronicles? You mean that Valkyria Chornicles, the PS3 game? If it is, then I'm definately gonna watch that one. Sad that I've yet to get a PS3 >_< to play the game itself.

Lulu doing an AI that's been bred on old anime? How can that NOT be awesome? I damn near sharted myself when he screamed "I CAN FLY!" (Eureka Seven shoutout)

As for Asu No Yoichi, it's got Ayame Ibuki, one of the rare nutbladder-busting GOD-TIER tsundere girls.

Ha ha.... What's hilarious about Jun Fukuyama (guy who voices Lelouch and Leopard in SWKS) is that in one episode he actually says his own name... Also if you like his voice (and work as Lelouch) be sure to watch Valkyria Chronicles, twitchster...

I really don't know anything about the upcoming season since I don't really follow general anime news. Are there any series' that you guys recommend that I . . . get a taste of? I'm tired of waiting until I hear good things about a show 3-4 episodes in and then having to play catch-up.

Bozzy, ya just made me want to buy a PS3 just to play the game. >_< Now I'll have to be content with the anime. Sure looks good. Blame me for being such a war enthusiast, especially if it's anything related to the years 1900 till 1945

Looks like Kyoto Animation is doing something not named Haruhi, Full Metal Panic or made by Key next:

I hear it's going to be like Lucky Star in the sense that it's based on a 4koma about high school girls doing absolutely nothing. Wasn't a huge fan of Lucky Star, but this looks like it'll be worth watching.

Since this is also going to start airing in April, is it safe to assume that KyoAni's staff didn't have the time/manpower to mix extra episodes in with the Haruhi re-air? I honestly didn't expect them to do anything (I've gotten off of that train four stops ago), but I've always held on to a tiny sliver of hope.

http://randomc.animeblogger.net/2009/06/24/summer-2009-preview/

Canaan, Princess Lover, Sora no Manimani and Umineko no Naku Koro ni are the only ones I think are worth it... Umineko is another game created by the studio behind Higurashi and Canaan is based on a scenario written by I believe the founders of Type Moon (Fate Stay Night, Tsukihime).

I know this is a pretty noob question, but can someone tell me when the fall anime season usually starts? Since most (big) American TV shows start during September, I was quickly going down the list of shows to start looking out for and whatnot, and it dawned on me that I have no idea when the fall anime season starts, and I'd kinda like to know what shows are coming out before they actually come out.

I think it's October since most of the series that were a full season in length end around then (such as Valkyria Chronicles).

Honestly, I really don't look forward to any shows unless they're sequels, remakes of a series that I enjoyed, or an anime adaptation of a game/manga/novel that I enjoyed; these are the only shows that I usually hear about before they air, anyway.

I basically watch the first few episodes of every new series and then decide what to continue watching after that.

Posted by: 207 Sep 7 2009, 02:27 PM
so far the upcoming series doesnt catch too much of my interests, im going to follow akikan and nogizaka haruka. i know their not that great but i tend to folllow series ive seen before. i'll certainly follow InuYasha: Kanketsu-hen as ive seen that too. i'll probably give kampher a shot also. aside from those 4 i'll have to actually see 2-3 eps of other series to decide.

Kämpfer
Sora no Otoshimono
Kiddy Girl-and
Nyan Koi!

I WILL look (100% sure) at :
Shin Koihime†Musō: Otome Ryōran Sangokushi Engi (Koihime Musou Season 2 FTMFW)
Asura Cryin' 2

added Nyan Koi! to "probably look at" list

Yeah, you could always browse AnimeNewsNetwork.com, they have an encyclopedia of anime titles, it might help you pick what you want to watch in the upcoming season.

Posted by: Nappy Hared Azn Sep 29 2009, 11:19 PM
If you have the time, just do what I do.

Every season, I watch the first episode of every show (except for shows that I'd obviously dislike, like little kid shows, shoujo/yuri, sequels to shows that I haven't watched, etc.) and decide what to keep watching/drop. After the third episode, I make another decision about what to keep watching/drop. After my second "preliminary round" (Episode 3), I've usually been able to whittle my list of 15-20 new shows to watch to about 5 or 6. Of course, this only works if you have a lot of time on your hands, since you'll be bogged down in new shows for the first few weeks of the season.

i usually chose shows that seem to be interesting that have a high chance of staying to the watching list. once the 1st round of shows are winding down halfway (or more) down the season i start looking at some others that didnt seem as interesting when i chose the 1st round. though i usually do let the first 3 es speak for themselves. too bad there doesnt seem to be any slow paced series this season ie alliso to lilia or higashi no eden. though aoi bungako/blue literature looks like a promising choice.

it didnt ring that well with me but the slow pace and constant mystery behind the messiah program was enough to keep me interested to see the whole season. it was refreshing to watch it. 90% of todays' anime series are fast paced to maximize the viewers but at times i find its too much to focus solely on such series.

ive always wanted to read the book "no longer human." btw was it yuki (TMOSH) that was always reading that?

I doubt it. Yuki reads a lot of foreign sci-fi novels. No Longer Human fits neither of those categories.

lol, a Winter Sonata anime. Might have a peak at that.

For the new anime seasons I normally just go for the sequels of stuff I've seen in the past. If i get time before hand, then I'll go through some synopsis and summaries to see what sounds interesting. Otherwise I'll just wait and go on word of mouth to see which shows are good happy.gif

EDIT: Actually now that i think about. The production studio's and sometimes even staff members is also generally a big pulling card for me in determining which series to watch laugh.gif

imo that not the biggest worry. theyve covered 5/10 scanlated manga ch-> 1 volume in 1 ep. theyve rushed the character intros and they'll catch up to ch1 manga in 1 eps, maybe 2 eps. they have alot of material to further the plot ie 8 more novels. whether they chose the novels or famservice is still up in the air, though it does seem like they'll do a character intro for mikoto (i know the basic character relations for mikoto). after that then i have no idea what would be true to the novels.

Did anyone catch "Nyan Koi!"? I was just going to follow "good" shows this season (steady plot, character development, etc.) due to time restraints, but this show is just too damn funny to pass up.

It's pretty much Seto no Hanayome (which I loved) without all the yakuza film references and with cats instead of mermaids/sea creatures. The fact that it's animated by the same studio makes the similarities even easier to spot.

So with yet a new season of animated series this Winter are there any you guys are particularly following?

I've noticed only the one thread about that series featuring character designs reminiscent of K-On, I think the show is called Sora wa something...

Posted by: Nappy Hared Azn Jan 12 2010, 01:02 PM
Of the first episodes that I've watched so far, "Durarara!!" seems to be the only promising series. The first episode of "Dance in the Vampire Bund" caught my interest, but seeing as how it's one of those "weird first episodes" (like Haruhi 2006), I'm willing to wait until Episode 2 to praise it/make fun of it.

EDIT: I can't believe that I left out "Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu." First episode made me laugh, which is more than I can say about most of what I've seen lately.

Posted by: BOZZ Jan 12 2010, 03:25 PM
I've seen the other two series you mentioned... Dance in the Vampire Bund is supposed to get really good... There's a few others like Himari Omamari that I've watched but am unsure of whether to continue or not since I am really far ahead having read all of the available 37 chapters of the series.

There's also this Chu-Bra series which doesn't really fit my tastes... Since it's about some middle school characters who have a bra fetish...

Then there is Seikon no Qwaser which is based on a comic drawn by either the guy who drew the Mai Hime comic or who worked on the animated series... It's main thing, aside from alchemy x action fights, is that the "fighters" gain power by sucking on female breasts to get something called soma. There's quite a bit of Christian (Orthodox) iconography and ideas in there too... I've read some of the manga myself and sort of like it...

There's also this series called Hanamaru Youchien which is apparently about this daycare and is sort of a comedy... I don't know much about this one...

Aside from that there is a new Hidamari Sketch series, a TV series version of Cobra the Animation and a joint project from I think the scenario writer of Higurashi (the game) and Peach Pit (the team behind the DearS manga) called Ookamikakushi.

OH YEAH! I forgot about a comedy called Ladies vs Butlers which had a funny first episode...

Posted by: 207 Jan 12 2010, 03:50 PM
not too many are that interesting to me as im unfamiliar with those series. though im going to give so ra no wo to and dance in the vampire bund a chance. chu bra did seem interesting for a second until they mentioned the cast were in middle school, so it dropped off rather quick from my list. i might pick up some of the other winter season series if i hear good things from it. i hope to find a series that shows along the lines like umineko/higurashi or berserk. vampire bund does look promising for that.

Posted by: BOZZ Jan 12 2010, 03:54 PM
Yeah... the manga gets a little odd (Dance in the Vampire Bund) at least according to some images I've seen... If you like Higurashi try the one I mentioned that's from the scenario writer of Higurashi... I haven't taken a look yet, but when I found about Umineko and how it was from the same creators as Higurashi I downloaded for that reason alone and have so far really liked the series...

Posted by: Nappy Hared Azn Jan 12 2010, 04:04 PM
I enjoyed Umineko, but it started getting really confusing. And since I watched it casually and never really got into it all that much, it eventually got to the point where I had no idea what was going on, but I was still watching every episode just because of all the LOLWUT? moments.

Btw, NHA, what's Durarara like?

Posted by: Nappy Hared Azn Jan 12 2010, 06:42 PM
I've never read the novels or manga, so the first episode left me with a "I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm definitely interested in seeing how it pans out" feeling much like "Eden of the East."

Interesting... I thought it was based off of an h-game or something... I guess not... I will check out the first episode to see if it's my sort of thing...

umineko is second to higurashi imo. more gore and evil characters and less dialogue when the 2 main rivals fight. i know umineko is more towards explaning the mysteries but i prefer how higurashi explained the recurring days by simply showing it.

There's also this series called Hanamaru Youchien which is apparently about this daycare and is sort of a comedy... I don't know much about this one...

This show seems pretty good so far, decided to check it out because the main dude is voiced by one of my favourite VAs. Pretty ridiculous for a slice-of-life show, but it's all in the name of comedy. Works pretty well, actually. laugh.gif

Ah yeah, I read the first chapter of the comic and realized that it wasn't what I was expecting... I was expecting something more serious and dramatic....

I'm rather enjoying "Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu" and "Ladies versus Butlers!!" I know I'm always criticizing light-hearted comedies for lacking substance, but "Baka to Test" is actually funny and ecchi shows like "LvB" balance out the incredibly dark "serious business" shows. I really wish that there were more funny shows last season, because watching "Aoi Bungaku" was f**king depressing.

the lineup isnt that bad, though i only seem to look forward to k-on, unicorn gundam and maybe mayoi neko overun. others i'll continue with are hetalia axis powers and darker than black ova.

I dunno man, Heroman looks like it's got potential, but knowing how much Stan Lee whores himself out nowadays, it'll probably fall flat on its face.

think what you want but i try to stay away from any american comic influences.
[rant]
i dont really like their history even though they're characters can be quite nice. my main beef with american comic origins is what they'll do to keep the series afloat when popularity is low. for example most of the characters have died atleast once just to allow new blood to fill in b4 they come back to life. it really annoys me even though i know anime do it often to stay afloat in rough water also ie mu laflaga/neo roanake, kira yamato and many others with miraculous survivals. i never got into american comics much aside from what i saw in saturday morning cartoons when i was young that later went to films. its the perpetual cycle where they really die only to say later that they only took a long nap.
[/rant]

i agree heroman can be a hit but mecha still have faltered ie boobonauts: the resonance and heroic age to an extent. my distaste for american comics and the drawing style dont really fit my interest for heroman.

The other titles I don't know well... Except for Kaichou wa Maid-sama. And another remake of Ai no Kusabi? The ending will not change... sad.gif

Read a chunk of the manga a while back, it's actually a pretty good series if you can get past how frickin' dense the characters are (granted, it's a shoujo series and that's pretty much par for the course, but still, christ!).

I'm used to the shoujo stereotypes. I'm impressed that they aren't glorifying the whole maid cafe angle with fanservice and otaku shit, and portraying it as a somewhat honest job.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Sep 22 2010, 11:33 AM
There's actually quite a few things I want to keep up with this season (Index II, Imouto, Iron M--woah, there are a LOT of 'i' titles), but I'll be sticking to my limit of 5. Kamen Rider OOO already takes up a spot, but now that K-ON is over I've freed up space for new junk.

Strike Witches, Asobi and Seitokai are all ending this week too... guess I have to refill.

The stuff I am hoping to follow:

  • Sora no Otoshimono f
  • Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector
  • MM!
  • Iron Man (JDM yo!)
  • Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai
  • FORTUNE ARTERIAL Akai Yakusoku

Togainu no Chi - Lots of bishies and what seems like a good plot.

Bakuman - I'm reading the manga so, I'll definitely check this one out.

Hakuouki Hekketsuroku - I watched the first season and I liked it heaps, plus, it has the whole reverse harem thing and I dig that a lot.

STAR DRIVER - Only because the main chracter is voiced by Miyano Mamoru and I'd listen to him reading the yellow pages. wub.gif

Stuff I'll probably be watching next season will most likely be:

- Hourou Musuko
Trailer (below) had me sold from the get go laugh.gif
YOUTUBE ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F378ZrEy8dI )

- Fractale
Seems interesting and looks kinda pretty, so i figured it's worth a shot lol.

- Mahou Shoujo Madoka
Really only because it's Shaft doing a magical girl show though laugh.gif That along with the fact that it's going to be an original work not adapted from anything else, so I kinda wanna see how it shapes up to be. Character designs will be by Aoki Ume (of Hidamari Sketch fame) |_________________________|

EDIT:
OVA/Movie/OAD wise:

- Black lagoon 3rd OVA ep
- Kara no Kyoukai OVA
- Angel Beats OAD
- Ah! My Goddess OAD
- Kuragehime OAD

Posted by: 207 Dec 18 2010, 08:06 AM
there isn't much this season that i will watch. the sort list includes Angel Beats OAD, Beelzebub and anything Gintama related is a must watch. i watched the first 201 episodes of Gintama and i found it one of the funniest series so far. I don't think I'll bother with wolverine. i"m watching iron man and its not exactly impressing me, it doesn't really stick out as an excellent show. its good but not enough for me to give Wolverine a try.

Didn't want to make a new thread or bump any of the older Trigun threads but just watched the Trigun movie. Soooooooo nostalgic, makes me want to rewatch the original series again tongue.gif

I heard about the movie, is it something totally new or a sort of remake?

Posted by: Tessou Jan 9 2011, 02:45 PM
FUNimation is still taking their sweet ass time releasing the Trigun movie stateside. FUNi is planning to release it in theaters (read: extremely limited number of theaters) before putting it on shelves. There isn't even a cast list yet, and it's been something like half a year since they announced their obtaining the license.

Also, Bozz, apparently it takes place before the end of the TV series, before that whole tearjerker Wolfwood episode.

Posted by: BOZZ Jan 11 2011, 06:25 PM
Oh, I haven't really seen much of the series, I've been meaning to watch it for ages tho!

Posted by: Tessou Jan 11 2011, 06:34 PM
It's a fantastic series! I'm surprised you haven't seen it yet, considering it's been out for a long time. FUNimation has it up on their video site for free (subbed, mostly), or you can buy it from them on shelves, or... you could be a pirate and get it otherwise. biggrin.gif

Posted by: Kiroshino Jan 12 2011, 05:01 PM
I never saw the movie. Definitely want to see it, though. smile.gif

I liked Trigun Maximum's version better than the anime, especially when comparing that Wolfwood scene.

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Jan 12 2011, 08:00 PM
Trigun movie is a great watch, although it's more for existing fans than anything since it really doesn't introduce any of the characters and just assumes you've seen the original beforehand. But newcomers shouldn't feel totally alienated as you'll get to know the characters as the film plays out anyway.

After a few weeks into the new season here's what I've been watching:

Level E
Pretty funny show about an alien prince who crashlands on Earth and starts living with the main character against his wishes. Said alien prince lacks all form of common-sense and would probably be best described as a genderbent Nino from Arakawa Under the Bridge. From the mangaka of HunterxHunter and YuYuHakusho.

Fractale
Getting a strong Kannagi like vibe from Fractale
- boy magically frees a mysterious, holy, quirky girl
- mysterious, holy, quirky girl begins living with said boy
- hilarious adventures soon follow

Madoka
Shows been pretty decent so far, nothing great as of yet but i know people who are hype as shit over this. Something about Magical Girls shows that do that to some people lol. The witch world is hella funky and very typical of ShinboXShaft. Unlimited Guns works is nice and if the 3rd episode is anything to go by, things just might start to pick up now and the actual show can finally begin.

Gosick!
Light-hearted mystery, detective type show. Good solid stuff to watch, no major complaints or flaws and plus how can you say no to a Goth loli smoking a pipe? laugh.gif

Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son)
Great, great show. Pretty much what happens when you focus on some of the serious aspects of cross-dressing and genderbending. Probably the most anticipated show for me this season and it certainly isn't disappointed one bit. https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=23853&st=225&#

Infinite Stratos

Dat Flower is probably the best among the ones listed there. I agree with that.

I'm following Dat Flower, Denpa Onna, and Hanasaku Iroha now, though I'm kinda halfhearted with the latter 2.

Nichijou OVA was kinda boring tbh, but I'll still catch it till episode 4 to see how it goes.

A Channel is a disaster. It's not even remotely funny. Had to give up by episode 2. >.<

Also Sket Dance can get pretty damn funny at times. They divide each episode up into two mini episodes and the first halves of the 2nd and 4th episode are my favourites thus far. So much laughs haha pinch2.gif

So I watched a few of them, and the only one I'm currently following is Hidan no Aria. Oretachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai has beautiful graphics but lacks a plot (I only watched the first episode anyway). 30-sai is too ridiculous in the first few minutes so I don't even bother finishing the episode. The others I haven't really tried yet... School is starting tomorrow sad.gif

I already dropped Softenni and Hen Zemi, but i'm still staying on most of the shows i tuned in on the start of the season. If i were to classify it...

Just in for the graphics: OreTsuba (the story is a bit confusing, but the ecchi gags made me LOL); Hidan no Aria (Kugyu gets too loli for my tastes)

Set aside for later viewing: Steins;Gate (busy digesting and dissecting Madoka this season, can't afford another headache-inducer); Hanasaku Irohaza-... er, i mean Iroha (a bit too soapy for my tastes, but worth watching i guess)

Download and watch ASAP: Sengoku Otome (kind of quirky, but ultimately light); TWGOK2 (hey, it's TWGOK we're talking here); Dororon Enma-kun Meramera (so seventies, i love it!)

I also await the new Sora no Otoshimono movie XD

High School of the Dead OVA is a little disappointing; full of nothing but fanservice. I was expecting at least some zombies...
Steins; Gate isn't too bad. The plot is promising although the graphics can get a little confusing at times (I don't like their colours!). However it would take some time before I can fully catch up to the episodes....
Right now I can't afford to get distracted tongue.gif

i like Hanasku Iroha alot, i like to watch atleast one series that has a calm plot without any flashy battles and such. i have hothing against flashy MS battles or various fighting anime but a small breather from such series is welcome imo. the same cant be said for TWOGK. i got tired of that manga rather fast within 40-50 chapters. its the same old story line and he remains as dense (when i dropped it) as he was in chapter 1. i was hoping he'd get a small hint after 40-50 chapters but i saw no such thing.

Just started Blood-C, a CLAMP remake of Blood series.

So far, it's horrible. :/

Posted by: kou yuuzhen Jul 8 2011, 09:08 PM
Just completed Aria yesterday. Don't think I like it too much, the plot was promising in the first few episodes then it went downhill with the usual stuffs like fanservice, and the end was very predictable. Haven't watched much anime nowadays, hopefully they have new ones for the next season, when my exams end smile.gif
I think for now I'll stop watching all those "cute" styled anime, they're beginning to annoy me a lot...

looks like the new season has many popular series. doesn't look too promising for any sort of exam period. quite a few mainstream comedy and action series

Fate/Zero
Shana III
Mirai Nikki

I'll definitely follow these. w00t2.gif

i already have 4 current series 13 eps in (1 serie is a 52 run) adding to that :S
seitokai no ichizon 2
working 2
hayate gotoku 3
kore wa zombie 2 (low proirity)
shakugan no shana
fate zero

the worst part of the whole serie lineup is that too many must see's have come up at the same time sad.gif. im glad they're back but its a bit overwhelming.

Posted by: kou yuuzhen Jul 9 2011, 06:28 PM
I'll watch Shana 3, but other than that I'm still not too sure. Tbh Shana 2 wasn't really that good too, they're missing the kick in the first season. I remember how hooked I was back then when it first came out, then I bought the DVD for the second season but it didn't live up to my expectations. Guess silver-haired villains are still the best happy.gif

New season looking kinda weak sauce so far. Then again last season had a pretty strong lineup so might've been a little spoiled there laugh.gif

Only Another, Nisemonogatari and Black Rock Shooter so far me. Will also probably pick up whatever else manages to build up steam throughout the season.

I'm eyeing Rurouni Kenshin. w00t2.gif

I don't think I have any "Must-watch"es from the list, but the graphics look great. I might try on some of the high school-themed ones, but I doubt I will be able to stay long.... laugh.gif

i'll give Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai! a try, looks interesting. i'll definetely watch ZnT final. Gundam Seed remastered may be on the list as a filler series, rewatched it 3x already in the past.

'Another' looks good. I think I'll follow Brave 10 as well. I'm a sucker for Sengoku stories. Lol.

There are a few decent shows, that one by staff that worked on Onegai Teacher looks good, the one with the college student living with kids could be good, Rinne no Lagrange (directed by the guy who directed Nadesico AND Stellvia) is one I am watching cause of the director's history of course, the Space Pirates one and the latest addition to Bakemonogatari round out things for me.

i just got hooked onto the series "Another". im getting similar vibes from it as i had with Ookami Kakushi. i loved that series and i think Another will be just as great. i love those horror mystery series. Nisemonogatari is hilarious and unique as usual.

Aye true that yo! And to think I almost wrote the show off as fujoshi bait when I first saw it on the season charts pinch2.gif

I've checked out a little of Kill Me Baby and even for a 4-koma type show it's all over the place. Humour is a little retarded and you know you've got a problem when one of your supporting character is infinitely more funny than the two leads. I dunno it might just need time to grow on you though. High School Boys would be the better comedy to reccommend by far still.

Space Pirates wasn't bad at all but at the same time wasn't anything too mind blowing. I've yet to see past the 1st episode so I'll probably get a better feel for the show then.

Another is a little too slow for my liking though. I mean sure it gets pretty eery at times... but like damn yo, nothing ever really happens and the big downtime between the good bits don't really help either. I guess that's just the nature of these atmospheric horrors. Hopefully it can start to pick up the further we move along into the plot, it's still only been 2 episodes afterall.

Posted by: 207 Jan 20 2012, 05:33 PM
wasnt Higurashi similarly slow paced to begin with? Ookami Kakushi was also slow off the mark.

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Feb 10 2012, 12:29 AM
Higurashi had the murder mystery thing going for it early on and by the end of the 1st episode no less to keep you stringed along.

Havn't seen Ookami yet so can't comment there.

But atleast something finally happened in Another #3. Lotsa answers in the recent episode (5) though.

with out spoiling too much, Ookami Kakushi is paced more like Another than Higurashi and the protagonist is left in the dark about the mystery. the story did get real interesting when he got some answers and the ball got rolling

for these type of anime i dont mind the slow progression. adds more time to mess with the mind and think it over. Higurashi did mess with me quite a bit until i got to season 2. i was baffled as to the multiple restarts until they got to se2. as for the arcs, i just enjoyed the various dark twists. Shiki was slow to start but it sure ended with alot of action.

i like slow paced anime at times, even slow paced slice of life is ok when its interesting enough as a concept.

Now that the Spring Season is pretty much started, I guess I'll use this thread to review the shows that I'm watching so far. I won't be giving away plot elements so I don't think this needs a spoiler tag. Here goes!

Uchuu Kyoudai/Space Brothers
Sub Group: HorribleSubs

So with a name like 'Space Brothers', how could I not check this out? I happen to be a pretty huge fan of space stuff, and not just the science fiction shit like ToLoveRU and whatever, but actual space shows. This one is really entertaining and looks to be pretty heart-warming. It's got comedy, it's got seriousness, and it's about the struggle to get into the space program starting from nothing. There's not much more I can say about it except that if you like space exploration and you're looking for a heart-warming comedy...this is your show.

Acchi Kocchi
Sub Group: NemDiggers (Commie)

Did you watch Ikamusume? If so, did you enjoy Ikamusume? Well, chances are you're the sort of person who enjoys simple comedy that doesn't focus on panty shots and cleaveage every five seconds. Sound about right? Then give this show a shot. It's kind of like A Channel except with male characters included. An adorable show with a daily-life sort of plot and slapstick comedy. A feel-good series if ever I've seen one.

Nazo no Kanojo X/Mysterious Girlfriend X
Sub Group: NemDiggers (GotSpeed)

Now, if you don't recognize the title right off the bat, shame on you. This manga has been around since forever and people have always muttered about it getting an adaptation. Well, that day is finally here and the wait was worth it. The animation, despite being done by modern production companies, does its best to mimick the classic art style of the manga itself. Keep in mind that this is an ecchi series, so while there's no actual ero (...yet) it wouldn't be something you'd want to watch at work. That is unless your workplace doesn't care that you watch people doing erotic things with saliva. Looks like this is going to be a heck of a thing.

Fate/Zero S2
Sub Group: UTW

Did you watch episodes 1-13? Did you enjoy them? Why aren't you already watching this? If you didn't see 1-13, then did you see Fate/Stay Night? Did you enjoy it? Then go watch 1-13 of Fate/Zero and catch up with the rest of us. 'Nuff said.

Upotte!!
Sub Group: HorribleSubs

Okay, this one is weird as hell. So the idea here is that most of the characters in the show are actually anthropomorphized rifles. The exception is the lead teacher character who is human. There's a lot of gun-related nerdery here as well as plenty of ecchi humor. The Russians are apparently catgirls. If guns, catgirls and ecchi humor aren't enough to get you to watch a show then I'm not sure what else I can say to convince you.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san
Sub Group: HorribleSubs

Lovecraft must be rolling in his grave after this. So what if all the lore about Cthulu was actually talking about moe aliens who obssess over Kamen Rider and spout off names of mobile suits when struck with a fork? Well, then you'd have this show. It's mind-numbingly ridiculous and references tons of shit while at the same time completely ignoring the fourth wall. Kiss your sanity points goodbye, because this show is a brain-hurter. Yet...I can't stop watching...!

Eureka 7: AO
Sub Group: NemDiggers (gg)

Did you watch Eureaka 7 and enjoy it? If you answered 'no' to this question, then get the hell out. I kid, I kid...well...okay maybe not really. Anyway it looks like BONES has another winner on their hands, this new show putting a new spin on the winning formula of the original series. Takes place quite some years after the original (15 years, maybe? I don't remember what year the original took place) in the same setting. We get new characters, new tech and new music... all of which are looking and sounding to be just as awesome as us Eureka 7 fans have come to expect. Seriously, watch this!

Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger/Unofficial Sentai Akibaranger
Sub Group: Over-Time

Okay, so this isn't an Anime...kind of. It has an Anime in it, similar to how Densha Otoko/Train Man had an Anime created specifically for it despite it being a live-action. This series has an in-universe Anime called Nijiyome Gakuen Z-Cune Aoi (2D Waifu Academy Z-Cune Aoi) which the main characters happen to be unheathily attracted to. Now, let me start by saying that I'm not a fan of the Sentai franchise. I got out of Power Rangers when I was still a little kid. However, this show is a major exception. It makes fun of Sentai shows on purpose and makes constant references to Akiba subculture. The OP is sung by Halko Momoi. The insert song is sung by Hatsune Miku. They ride around in an Itasha. They transform using a moe figure reminiscent of a Busou Shinki that transforms into a gun. It's absolutely ridiculous and amazingly fun. This is easily the best show I've seen yet this season and is the one I'll be impatiently waiting for every week. Check it out!

That concludes my report. I have yet to see Accel World but it's on my list, so I'll update once I've seen it. The only show on my 'check' list that isn't out yet is AKB0048, so we'll see how that goes once it premieres. Hope this helps!

Posted by: Kiroshino Apr 13 2012, 08:47 AM
Fate/Zero, Upotte, and ASccel World are on my list of things to watch... after finals. >.<

I do keep up with the Mysterious Girlfriend X manga, though I don't think I'll be watching the anime.

Totally watched the first two episodes of Space Brothers today with my sister. And all I can say is that I love it, it's very cute. The voice of adult Mutta (Hiroaki Hirata) is the same voice actor who was Wild Tiger in Tiger&Bunny which I think is absolutely awesome. All the voice acting fits and the art style and character designs fit the mood of the show. The bond that Mutta and Hibito share is very similar to the bond between me and my younger sister. I also find it kinda funny that Mutta and my sister share the exact same birthday. That's right, they were both born on the day of the Agony of Doha.

I'm a huge fan of the Lupin the Third series and I was so excited to watch the new series that they have this season. Lupin the Third, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. I saw the first two episodes today, and holy cow is this show raunchy. I swear, Fujiko has no shame. Don't watch this unless you're by yourself because there is a lot--and I mean A LOT--of nudity. So much so I found it uncomfortable to watch. Aside from that, I really liked the story and the animation style. The way the show presents itself and the amazing backgrounds and character designs really bring me back to the older animation styles that were prevalent in the 1970s and 80s.

Posted by: Kiroshino Apr 16 2012, 03:22 AM
Watched a few at the anime club. First impressions:

Upotte: A bit more bluntly ecchi than I would like, at least the first episode. The second episode made up for that somewhat.

Sankarea: Weird concept. Pacing is a bit fast, but I guess that's what you get with ecchi with a drama undertone.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead: I didn't watch the first season, but the first episode has me convinced the artist was high when he/she made this. Lots of WTF moments.

Sakamichi no Apollon: Has lots of potential. If you're into music, watch it.

Jormungand: Characters are uninteresting. Pacing is way too fast even for an action anime. Even then, still going to watch it.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Apr 21 2012, 08:56 PM
I suddenly remember why I don't watch season anime anymore. Since they only come out weekly, I'm always left on cliff hangers! Though, in the end it is well worth it. I choose to watch a pair of really good shows to watch this year. So I don't mind waiting a week in between episodes. awesome.gif

Ah Space Brothers... you are way too heartwarming. Why do you have to be such a cute show!?! If you didn't smile or laugh at this week's episode then go back and watch it again! It's hilarious and cute; you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll laugh again, and you'll be on the edge of your seat waiting for more! The show can take any direction at this rate, so it's still up in the air whether or not Mutta is going to make it into the space program.

This week's episode of Lupin was great, got to see Goemon and everything! I don't want to give away too many details and spoilers I won't say too much. But the series continues to amaze me with it's great art work and voice acting. I absolutely love the series even though there is a crazy amount of nudity in it.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Apr 21 2012, 11:10 PM
The real problem I have with the current season is that 99% of the shows I'm watching come out on the weekend, meaning that I get almost all of them on Saturday night or Sunday morning. I think there's a single show that comes out on Monday and Pirates comes out on Thursday I think...

But see? So many of this season's stuff is the weekend that I don't even remember the one or two that actually come out during the week. It means waiting that much longer for everything and then suddenly having a ton to watch! Why can't it be spaced out better!? sad.gif

Posted by: Wanderer Apr 22 2012, 04:57 PM
What about upcoming series?

For any fan of AKB48, http://myanimelist.net/anime/12149
Can't wait 'till the 29'th! And then when the sub'd one comes out! smile.gif

I've heard that Space Brothers has a live action movie set up for release sometime during this season, so I'm pretty excited about that. I picked up this tidbit of http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2012-04-09/live-action-space-brothers-msg-seasoning-tv-ad-posted today while browsing around. It is a commercial for MSG... I love MSG! It's so bad for you though... Anyway, Mutta and Hibito are so adorable! happy.gif

Posted by: RalliKai Apr 25 2012, 05:41 AM
I am so behind on current anime. Real life being a factor but also not finding many new shows to be all that interesting to me. Eden of the East was the last series I watched in its entirety. Only show I've actually been keen to follow lately has been Gundam Unicorn.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 May 10 2012, 12:52 PM
Still watching the new Lupin and Space Brothers, and both of them are managing to keep my attention. So I'm really happy with that. Now I can finally say that I have started watching Eureka 7: AO. So far its pretty good, I'm very impressed by the character designs and the soundtrack. The scenery is not too bad either. If you're a fan of Eureka 7, then this is a great show to pick up. It builds off the concepts of the previous show while adding even more to the universe. I'm not going to lie though, it is confusing. You will probably be derping like me by the end of the first episode and wondering what the heck just happened. But with shows like this, they pilot episode is always confusing. Stick with it and I'm positive that it will be worth the initial confusion! happy.gif

Here's the chart for next season, Summer 2012:
http://thecartdriver.com/charts/

Only Tari Tari, Kokoro Connect and Muv Luv catches my interest. Although it does seem to be the season of the sequels, some of which i do want to watch but havn't seen/completed the 1st season yet. Moyashimon, Horizon and Dog Days (maybe lol).

--------------------------------------

This season though I've just been hoarding a lot of the shows rather than watching them. I'm greedy nature to bite off more than i can chew had kicked in again lol. Which is funny because the bigger the backlog becomes, the more put off i actually get to watch them.... =/

Watching:
- F/Z (Godlike!)
- Hyouka (KyoAni, I'm obligated lol)
- Space Brothers (so good)
- Kuroko no Basket (basketball with actual basketball content and no loli's to turn me off this time lol Still need to finish Ro-Kyo-Bu actually. Either I get suckered very easily by basketball shows if you havn't noticed :3)
- Acchi Kocchi (nice fun and little cute, heart-warming show to watch on the side)

Hoarding for now, but one day I will get to it... One day...:
- Sankarea (premise intrigues me a lot, even before anything aired and when i first saw the chart, but jsut havn't found the time tbh =/)
- Dusk maiden of Amnesia or w/e it's name is (same as above, want to watch but i don't make the time lol)
- Kids on slope/Sakamichi no Apollon or however the JP name is spelt (I know I really should be watching this, because of all the positive feedback I keep hearing)
- Accel World (Jumped on because of hype train and it was the popular show. Apparently main character is a fat wuss who just mopes all day despite being thrown into the dream life. He'd probably get on nervs quick even if i did watch this tbh lol)
- Jormungand (military action and what not that i see and other people got me interested. Apparently tries to copy Black Lagoon and fails at it though lol I guess I can look at it as a Black Lagoon lite when i watch it)
- Medaka Box (NisioisiN, the writer who wrote Bakemonogatari and Katanagari wrote the manga for this as well so through extension I had to check this out too. From what I know, it's a Shounen manga that pokes the hell out of the Shounen genre and all the characters are apparently fighting each other to be the main character lol.)
- AKB0048 (Yes I already this falls under the so bad, it's good umbrella. But for shits and giggles, why the hell not? laugh2.gif I just hope i don't end up hating myself for this lol facepalm.gif )

EDIT: wall of text and badly formatted post because well... not like anyones gonna end up reading it anyway lol derp.gif

I don't have much time to keep really up to date with anime nowadays, as much as that pains me. So much to see and so little time. The only thing I do have time for is Studio 4C's "Peace.Eco.Smile" because each episode is only like...3-5 mins long. It just came out; it's about an alien that crashes into earth and falls in love with a human. So cute, and lovely artwork. Gives me a small anime fix that I need!

Looked at the chart for Summer recently, and the following series look interesting...

Danganronpa - The Animation
Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi
Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku
Uchouten Kazoku
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya
Watamote!
Gifuu Doudou!! Kanetsugu to Keiji
Kiniro Mosaic

For movies...
Short Peace
Kick-Heart
Kaze Tachinu
Fate/Zero Cafe
Hal

For OVAs...
Corpse Party: Tortured Souls
Mirai Nikki Redial
Ark IX
Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!: Kirameki no... Slapstick Noel
Tamako Market 'Occhoko Choi-chan'
Yowamushi Pedal OVA

I'll probably be trimming the series list a lot, since this is probably the most hefty list I've made for myself ever.

My to-watch list will likely come from this list, in a much more stripped-down form (I can only follow so many series, after all). I don't use the three-episode test. The most I give is two episodes. If it's bad by the first episode, I'm dropping it. If it's mediocre on the first episode, I'll give it one more. I figure that's a fair way to do it.

So what else does everyone like from this upcoming season?

Galilei Donna, for sure. I'll try the others, though.

Ah, and Miss Monochrome.

Coppelion, Kill La Kill, Yowamushi Pedal, Galilei Donna, Pokemon: The Origin, (the interest in this one is low but i'll give it the three episode try) Log Horizon, Valvrave Season 2.

I'm super hyped for this one Gundam Build Fighters! Some people may not like the idea but personally I loved the advertisement thing they did before. It's basically a gundam dream match so I'm pretty hype.

Pokemon: The Origin is a no brainer I'm super excited for that one.

>implying you'll get to see Harlock or Chu2 movies at any point during the next season

YEARITE! Count your lucky stars that Madoka Movie 3 is getting a stateside release. But as for next season, here we go...

TV Series:
Outbreak Company
I have a feeling I'll enjoy the main character, as he appears to always have relevant.

Infinite Stratos 2
I watched S1. 'Nuff said.

Little Busters ~Refrain~
I watched S1. It's key. 'Nuff said.

Hajime no Ippo Rising
ASU WO ASU NO KAZE GA FUKU SA TO
TASOGARE SORA DE NAMIDA KORARETE
YAGATE OTONA NI NARU BOKURA HE
SEITEN NO HEKIREKI

Seriously I've been waiting entirely too long for more of the best sports Anime ever created.

Gundam Build Fighters
It's Gundam. 'Nuff said.

Valvrave the Liberator S2
I just finished watching S1 yesterday FFFUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKKK

OVAs:
Genshiken Nidaime
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Ilya (x3!)
Kill Me Baby
Seitokai Yakuindomo
Suisei no Gargantia
Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku
Infinite Stratos
KissxPiss

Movie:
Madoka the Movie 3rd

That's it. Sure I'd love to see Harlock and Chu2 but considering how freaking long I had to wait for the live-action Yamato movie I refuse to hold my breath. It'll probably be out in a year. derp.gif

What the hell are you talking about? Going to see them in person? I never said that's what I expect to do.

I didn't mean that either. I just think it's funny you listed them as 'next season' when there's 0 chance of you seeing them...as in 0 chance they'll be YARRHARR FIDDLEDEEDEE pirated for your viewing pleasure until the blurays hit, just like with Yamato/Eva/etc. Madoka is the only one that deserves to be in that list since you actually have a chance to see it during next season.

Is it? I don't know I was going off a site I looked up. It could be, damned if I know, because I'm still trying to play catch up. I finished Toradora yesterday, ffs.
