If it isn't oo much of hassle, could someone please translate ID:ES's menus and options screens and post here?

Greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm sure someone will scan the Asian Manual...

Posted by: devilzgtr Jul 3 2008, 09:27 PM
Heres the neccessary parts of the asian manual with english translations. Not in great quality as it has been taken by a phone camera only.

Note that the translated manual is for the asia version and hence does not cover the network battle mode. That's a whole other sea of text to swim through. smile.gif

Yes, I looked at those pictures and knew something was missing laugh.gif...but I really didn't see any use for the manaul (for me anyway) with my limited knowledge of the language I should be able to navigate my way around.

ok is anyone willing to translate the option & online menus like how they translated the pages for how to make a JPN PSN?

Posted by: Tessou Jul 4 2008, 08:36 AM
I don't have the game yet, but if I could get a video/screencaps of the menus I could try.

Yeah, I would like that too.

Tesso, maybe when you get the game and you have some time to spare, you can translate it for us? happy.gif

I won't get it until at least next tuesday, so you'd have to sit tight for that.

By the way, have any tips for a rookie? I've only played this game a couple of times, just only on the PSP.

I don't read manuals in English. I can't imagine reading one in Japanese even if it has been translated.

I'm guessing that you are talking about force feed back for your wheel? If so it's the third one from the bottom up (You have it set to the minimum)...

Posted by: Maxberg Jul 10 2008, 01:54 PM
I just want to know something.

When a race is finished, we have points, but for what exaclty?

On the screen the last 2 lines are for the total of the race and total overall. But the others are for what?

Posted by: DK_2 Jul 10 2008, 01:55 PM
thanks EMAGDINM now what's the NORMAL and MIDDLE for?

Posted by: flubbachany Jul 10 2008, 06:31 PM
NORMAL refers to AI difficulty
MIDDLE refers to left stick sensitivity

Posted by: Devil Kitami Jul 15 2008, 08:25 PM
I've started translating the online mode menus into English, if you have something I don't have or want to correct me, please contribute in this thread.

When you start the online mode you're greated with a user agreement screen, there are three options:

-------------------
Read Agreement
Agree
Disagree

-------------------

Just choose agree and start the game.

The main menu looks like this:

-------------------
Ranking Battle (random races with liked ranked players)
Free Battle (join rooms and challenge people)
Ranking List
Garage
Exit Online Mode

-------------------

Before the race starts in Ranked and Free Battle each player will have an option that says "Car Boost" and the option of "On or Off". Both players have to choose "Off" for it to be disabled.

Here is the Ranking Battle submenu

-------------------
Find Opponent
Change AT/MT
Exit Ranking Battle

-------------------

Here is the Free Battle submenu (after you pick a course), at the bottom of all the courses is Free Course Select, means you can make or search for a room where the players can pick the tracks they want.

-------------------
Available Rooms
Create a Room
Exit

-------------------

The ranking list submenu is as follows:

-------------------
Overall Ranking
Course Ranking
Replay Downloads (I can't figure out what this does yet)
Exit

-------------------

Garage Mode is the same as the offline Garage, except one extra option to Download Stuff, but there is currently nothing to download.

I'm having a serious probem trying to download the replays, I don't know how, so if anyone knows how please let me know. I also noticed that it takes FOREVER for any of the ranking data to load up. Anyone else having this problem?

Like I said, this is not complete, but if anyone else wants to tackle the other submenus, please do. I also haven't figured out how to make a room yet, can you? Or do you just join the rooms that exist on the server at all times for each course?

Posted by: driftsucky Jul 16 2008, 09:20 AM
DK, thanks for this. That's AWESOME. I think what would help with this (and this is for anyone who is so inclined) if we have a menu screen capture (screenshot) and under or above it, have Devil Kitami's translations. Great job thus far.

Yep, I found that out today, I didn't think I was getting any points because they weren't going up much after I won. cool.gif

I also added the submenu for Ranking Battle.

I might be down to do the screen caps on my computer and use a photo editor to insert the text meaning next to the words.

If someone beats me to it then oh well.

Great job DK LOL that reads funny typing that.

Hope someone figures out the meaning for free battle mode.

If you're talking about the submenus for free battle, I will translate it later tonight.

One thing I can't read is when you get into a room in free mode, sometimes there is a huge red kanji text over someones avatar, I think this means they are currently in a race, but I'm not 100%.

Posted by: divinity Jy Jul 16 2008, 02:34 PM
In and only in the Network Garage's menu, a new option called Download Items is available. That means we'll eventually be able to download avatar parts.

When you see the map of Japan it is searching for an opponent. If one is not found after a minute or two, you have to back out and re-search. I can usually find an opponent everytime, as long as it's not like 5am in Japan or something. Keep in mind most of the people playing this are in japan so you need to get on when it's in the evening and nite Japan time to find the most people.

This thread?

https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=34764

Nowhere in that thread did you post about these menus. I saw multiple people ask about online menus, so I threw some up. No need to come in here and start saying you already did it. Obviously other people here couldn't find your post, because I can't find it.

I didn't win a prize for throwing these up, so there's nothing to compete for if that's what you're getting at.

Posted by: Tessou Jul 16 2008, 07:47 PM
I'm not picking a fight. I just remember that someone posted images straight from the online menus and I translated them for him. Dunno which thread it was in, probably buried in the main IDES thread somewhere.

Well you should post those in this thread. Instead of claiming to be Christopher Columbus. I would love to have all the online menus translated.

Posted by: Tessou Jul 17 2008, 08:08 AM
Why would I want to repost it? You did exactly what I did, so there's no need to post it again. All I said was that I had translated this before.

If anything, you just made it more accessible. That's a good thing. I know a lot of people here are not in the mood to wade through 60+ pages in the main IDES thread to find the two posts I'm talking about.

Posted by: Tessou Jul 17 2008, 10:24 PM
Okay, here's all the funky network mode menus with each part translated for you all. I put special emphasis on teaching people how to make their own rooms.

Here's the first page you see when you access Network Mode.
user posted image

If you accept the agreement, you move on to this page.
user posted image

If you want to PLAY TOGETHER, select Free Mode and you'll find your way here.
user posted image

For best results, you should select Free Course, since that lets challengers take you to any course instead of locking you to one place.

Anyways, selecting any course will take you to a screen that looks like this.
user posted image

The top option takes you a list of available lobbies. Just select one and jump in, OR, you can make your own by selecting the second option. You will get a text entry field where you input the name of the room you want to make. Select YES at the option (it says "are you sure you want to make a room with this name?) and you'll get this dialogue.
user posted image
If you select YES, you can make a numbers-only password for the room so any unwanted visitors won't be able to get in.

Here's what a lobby looks like.
user posted image

To start a race, simply select the second option, select an opponent, and click on them. Once they accept the challenge on their end, you can then set the parameters such as course (in free course mode only), direction, weather, and time of day. At the end, both players can select to have boost on or off. Boost will only turn off if BOTH players select "Off".

When all is said and done, just select YES at the prompt, and wait for the race to load.

Ah, okay. I'll take some time out today and screencap as many of the menus and screens as I can, then I'll translate them all inside the screens for you and anybody else interested. I know some of the online menus were pissing some people off, and I've gotten a lot of queries about the garage screen too...

The option that flashes up right after you select boost on/off asks if you accept the opponent's course selection. If you select YES, the race begins. If you select NO, another venue will be chosen until both players agree on a course (this can take forever with assholes that only want a certain course and conditions).

Posted by: drift king Jul 21 2008, 06:32 PM
great job on the screen caps

on the last pic what do the following options actually do:

challenge(a random opponent or do you get to pick?), blocked user(can you specify who to block), block user(how is this different than the 1st block user option)?

Posted by: Tessou Jul 21 2008, 07:05 PM
I really never tried those block buttons, but the first one seems to be a blacklist of some sort, while the other one is a way to block certain users from challenging you. I think. I don't use them at all since I only play with people I wouldn't need to block anyways.

This is the network ranking screen.
- The top option shows you the top 100 ranked players.
- The second option shows you world time attack records (dominated by JP players, btw)
- The third option lets you upload your replays.
- The fourth option takes you back to the previous screen.

user posted image
This is the ranking mode menu.
- The first option is Ranking Match. It automatically looks for an opponent, and then one of you will choose the locale before the race begins. When the race is over, you return to this screen.
- The second option lets you change your car's transmission, and that's about it. Kind of worthless.
- Third option, as always, takes you back to the network mode menu.

That is a sample comic to show you what the feature looks like. You can buy the comics in the JP PSN Store for about 300 Yen each. There are five volumes out already, and they cover battles you've already seen a thousand times before. I would avoid this feature, honestly.

I wanted to know at the beginning of each race.

What stood for win / lose..

Because I see 3 spots for 3 different numbers.

Win / Lose / Disconnect? [That's all I can think of....]

Can someone confirm the correct order?

*needs to learn japanese.* grin2.gif

Edit 1: Also, I noticed more dlc in the market area for the japanese.. but it costs yen.. umm.. does anyone know what that dlc was for? Avatar customization or..what? lol...

Total Races - Wins - Losses

You can use this to find out who likes to drop connection to avoid loss since the numbers don't stack up on them.

Example: 50 - 28 - 2
What could have possibly happened during the 20 other races? wink2.gif

I seem to be pretty even about myself right now then.... thank you for that.

67 - 34 - 33

then this means.. I beat

Yug who has 104 - 95 - 9

o.o;

-pats himself on the back.-

I have pinned this thread since it deals with important reference materials in the game. If we spot any more threads asking for translation help outside of this pinned thread, it is grounds for an actual warning from now on. This is adherant to the universal forum guidelines.

Also, I merged all existing threads that had relevant translation information into this thread, so now everything you need is in one spot.

so got the jap version like two weeks ago and since then been trying to use the online part of it. sadly the part i get stuck at is where you choose to join a room in free battle. once i choose i room another display says something (dk jap) and takes me back to the main menu of the network. i fellowed the directions of the translated section in the fellowing pages but it just explains that once u join a room you have to wait a while. so far i havent gotten there, what am i doing wrong!

hey, can anyone teach me how to get the words 雨宮 on my ides?

Posted by: Tessou Aug 1 2008, 04:46 PM
Absolutely! You may have noticed that the game tries to figure out what you're typing as a name sometimes. If you use hiragana and phonetically sound out the kanji, it will eventually narrow down to what you're looking for (Rain Palace?).

- For 雨, you should type あめ
- For 宮, you should type きゅう or みや (both mean the same thing)

Oh sweet, thanks a lot tesso! =D

Posted by: JPLUS Aug 4 2008, 02:27 PM
You're gonna want あめみや if you're going for Amemiya smile.gif

does anybody not want to help me here, i mean i bought the jap version and im still not getting online so i would like to know whats up!

Posted by: Tessou Aug 6 2008, 06:49 PM
You need to clarify the problem. I can't help you with such limited information you gave me. Because I suspect you will take a while to reply, here's a handy dandy guide to getting online in IDES.

At the main menu, your options are Legend of the Streets, Time Attack, Replay, Network, Options, and Comic. You need to select Network Mode, the fourth option. This is only available on the JP version and the background of the option looks like a map of Japan with stars behind it.

Now, you will be faced with three options in the next screen. You need to select the second (middle) option to agree to the online play document. Sometimes the system will ask you to sign into PSN here. Once you sign in, you'll be whisked away to the Network Mode hub. The top two options on this screen are RANKED MODE and FREE BATTLE MODE. If you want to play ranked matches to upgrade your rank (for auras and bragging rights), go to ranking. If you want to play against friends, select free mode.

In ranking mode, hitting the top option immediately looks for an opponent and you'll begin setting up a race.

In free mode, the top option lets you join an existing room, which can hold up to 6 players. Those 6 can freely challenge each other endlessly. The second option lets you create a room, complete with a password if you want one.

Inside a room, select the SECOND option and then click on another player in the room to challenge them.

OK the part i get stuck in is well ok lets start with rank battle. when i go there it does begin a search but something in text appears and i hit circle and it takes me back to the menu. i mean im i hiting something wrong here or what. now for free battle, when i go to free course and choose a room instead of the green rectangler text or something that allows be to progress a orange or red rectangler appears and takes me back to the menu. this also applys to other course in free battle. so whats the deal, this is the japanese version cause i did own the aisan one but sold it to get this version. i saw in youtube using the ranking battle and fellow the direction there but up to the part when its seaching with japan in the background a green rectangler text box appears hit circle and takes me back to the main menu. its like to resticting me from loging into any room or battle. whats the deal with the orange/red rectangler text box saying and why cant i rank battle.

Posted by: superROB-Z Aug 10 2008, 07:05 AM

you do understand that is very normal. it takes me at least 3-4 times to get one battle going when I was ranking up with my first account.

Posted by: superROB-Z Aug 10 2008, 10:09 AM

FINALLY GOT ONLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks JPLUS but it seems the real problem wasnt the connection well it was but ok....after playing around trying to understand the NAT type 2 network setting i just couldnt enable it in my PS3 so id pretty much had given up till i found something interesting on the linksys website.

it seems alot of ppl were having DNS errors when connecting to the PSN (which had been happening to me for a while). sometimes connect sometimes not. in the forum i notice that my router had a update on its firmware last march so i decided to updated since i tried everything else to get the Type 2 NAT. once it update i tried updateing the PSN info and to my surpise it pick tp NAT type 2.

as soon as i saw that i pop in IDES loged in the network HUB in finally had my first 10 battles tonight WWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! FRAKING SWEAT!!!!! this is why i wanted this game! thanks everybody who tired to help! PSN name: superROB IDES name:ROB-Z

hi i just got my copy today and i cant seem to find anybody to play. is everybody sleeping?
Im playing from canada. happy.gif

Posted by: icedagger Nov 17 2008, 03:29 PM
yeah, maybe. Most of the active players play from Japan. So if you're logging in when it's like 2am over there you probably won't have anyone to battle against.

Still playing this in 2020, and still some players !

Good advice : use the Google Translate App on your mobile to directly translate anything.

I know someone did a patch but I'm not sure it's downloadable... :/
