What I came to learn was that while it has a practical application, you really need to set the vehicle up well to accomodate for the driving style. You can't just get in a car and do it, unless it has the steering lock set up a certain way. Might not work too good on an FF layout either. I was always trying to learn that one 2 foot driving technique that dude from the Night Kids who drove the EG6 would do. That shit is f**king haaard! |

Since first watching last winter, I've gotten a bigger interest in cars, especially Honda's and Nissan's. I still don't have my first car yet, but I want something that was in the series, like a civic or integra. I might even put an Emperor sticker on my car, just cause I like the name. Also, I gained a new interest in Eurobeat, so now I got something to listen to in the car. My brother has plans to go visit Japan and go drift Iroha. I just wanna go to Hurana and then run the Wangan. |

Thanks to Extreme Stage I think my next car will be a Lancer Evolution IX. I got to drive one a few weeks back after a friend of mine in the navy came home with one of his mates who had one. I told him I'd love to have a crack in a real one and I got to drive it back from the next town over - through a mountain pass. Great fun. |

Before that, I only knew it as the pretty blue car i saw in an off-road race on speed channel (which i later learned was WRC). |

Anything relating to cars I collected and loved. When I discovered Initial D, I fell in love with it. The first contact was anime, later I discovered the manga. Before Initial D I mostly molded cars by my self. I didn't hang out or go cruising. After I watched a few episodes I decided that I wanted to associate with other auto enthusiasts. I like the excitement that the Speed Stars have about cars and crews. Now, I try to get a few car peps together for a "wash day" or BBQ. I have had some really great times hanging out since Initial D. |

I got amazed with that unlike traditional animation like Cyber Formula,...... [speaking of that] (Goes to "Things Initial D Characters would never say" thread) Anyways, As I watched the series, It got me hooked. Coupled w/ upbeat Eurobeat music, and it gave me basic stock knowledge about cars, technical mojos, performance, and race skills, including drifting. It also got me into cars further, being my favorite in the anime are Evos, STis, and RX-7's. |

IDW Member Group: Members Posts: 10 Member No.: 13,084 Joined: Sep 30th 2005 Location: Update Profile | Well, I've been into cars since I was little. I guess the main thing that Initial D did for me, was just getting to know more about the Japanese cars like the AE86, and the cars in the series, and the different names that they refer them by, like EG6. As well as getting to know more about touges. It's also made me appreciate more of the manga part as well. I've never read one before, and right now I'm reading all the scanlations of Initial D, and it's making me love it even more. I want to go out and get the manga's, but I've read some scans of the Tokyopop versions around volume 10-15, and the name changes are a big turnoff to me. I guess Initial D has made me disappointed in Tokyopop. This post has been edited by Silent Drifter on Mar 26 2009, 08:57 PM |

IDW Expert Member Group: Members Posts: 101 Member No.: 32,600 Joined: Apr 14th 2009 Location: In my EG6 | In one way, Initial D has actually put me in a new perspective at what cars can do and also some of the theories of racing in mountain passes and touge racing. I have played the Initial D game since I was 15 years old, and it became the only thing that actually solved all of my problems that I had to deal with in the real world. School, drama, all that stuff. In some way, I am thankful that they introduced Initial D here in the U.S. and has also brought me to buy a Honda Civic EG6. And hopefully one day, I might pull a Shingo on the mountain pass here in the U.S. |

IDW Member Group: Members Posts: 13 Member No.: 32,669 Joined: Apr 20th 2009 Location: Update Profile | Initial D has made me spend almost 800 dollar of my hard earn money in total in arcade machine in few months (during V2 and V3 booming). And almost fail on few of my course because of spending to much time in the arcade, watching the anime not to mention browsing on internet for the initial D scanlated manga on the web (at that time was rather hard). Luckily I quit on early V3 era because they make the GC8V weaker and shift stick failure due to too many abuse (eraser was "cool" that time). Think it back . . . Initial D had never bring me any good thing apart from meeting a new friends that share the same miserable life (well you know..., we want to go drive fast with real car but have no skill and could not afford the real car and end up with arcade machine ) |

Before I learned about intitial D, I was already autocrossing and driving on the racetrack (HPDE) with a Japanese FR car. I also had a Japanese wife and had been to Japan a few times. Initial D made me appreciate the motorsports hobby even more and also got me more into Japanese culture which brings me closer to my wife. Watching the episodes has also added more words to my Japanese vocabulary. It's also given me a desire to buy an AE86 or an FC or FD |

It also gave me information about the cars, the driving techniques and the mechanical stuff. It got me hooked to IDAS which is still the best arcade game ever. And my love for the S2000 grew. And until now, it is still the number 1 anime and manga for me. |

Drift = Japanese cars are the number one. Drag = American cars are the number one. Circuit = European cars are the number one. It really comes down to the type of racing. Generally European cars are superior in most aspects, mainly because their cars are technologically bred from Formula One circuit racing... Benz, Ferrari, etc... Japanese do tend to be better in Drift because they originated the sport of drifting. But then you have to be realistic, 'cause we don't live in a world filled with drift courses. The road and streets out there are not always drift courses. Fast highways for example do tend to suit European and American cars better. | ||
