Well, practically every car should be set up to run more rich than anything else to be on the safe side, but the Evos run richer than most factory turbo'd cars do. That's what I'm saying.

I'm being told that a bone stock Evo should gain about 30whp on a tune, which is perfectly fine with me for now. And for the record, the fuel system, as it sits, can support upwards of 300whp, I'm just not interested in that quite yet. Baby steps (and of course, supporting mods over time).

Tunes can really unearth whp like that. People weren't joking about the car's potential with such small modifications.

Plus 300 whp is a solid amount, and should be what you'd be putting down with MBC, TBE and tune from what a lot of the VIII owners have done. Anything beyond that, and you may want to invest in a new fuel pump. But like I said before, that amount of power is already plenty and can get you doing low-12s in the quarter.

You mean new as in over the Walbro 255 that I found out it's got?

Oh... if it already has that unit, then you're good for future mods (turbo, cams, etc.)

Mind if I ask for some ball park factory AFRs at WOT? maybe some dyno runs illustrating the point?

If you find something lemme know, I gave a quick google search but all I could find was people talking about their AFRs after theyd been tuned. Ill take a look around for stock dynos/data runs next time.

Walbros are junk. Nothing worth writing home about.

Chinese Walbros are junk. Ive yet to see many issues with actual walbros. That said theres a HUGE flood in the market right now of chinese walbros being sold as real walbros. You need to know what youre looking at to know which is which.

I would guess it is higher flow rate than stock pump though, isn't it?

Eh, it's what's in there and that's where it'll stay until it dies or I find myself in need of something better. More likely the former.

If it makes you feel better, I got one to go in the grale that I never got around to installing yet.

( Not that I need it yet, but I will in the future ).

Ive got a walbro 255 in my Z, supported 300 at the wheels, 0 issues, and its not a noisy mofo, so yay on all accounts. Loudest thing about my fue lsystem is the modified fuel return line i made, just dumps into the top of the tank so it sounds like someones taking a piss when its on

Hahaha, I had problem with the return line on mine, did the same sort of thing.

On the flip side, my Whinebro's audible outside the car.

Where/hows it mounted? Wanna hear some loud pumps play around with some aeromotive fuel pumps. AWESOME fuel pumps (what we use on the supercharged vipers), but mofos are NOISY.

Usual spot for Mitsus, through the top of the tank directly under the passenger side back seat.

Update time! Met the previous owner face to face yesterday, the car previously made 292 at AMS in Chicago with no more beyond what it's currently got than exhaust and an MBC. The tune that did this is supposedly still on the ECU, but that remains to be seen.

I have an MBC, a little sooner than expected, but that's no fault of my own, it was pretty much forced upon me after I was up on the rollers... the car made 170hp/171tq... At wastegate pressure. f**king dealership took the MBC off when they got it, threw the stock lines back in there, and didn't bother to check if the stock pill was still there, so the WGA saw unrestricted flow from the boost source. f**kers.

I'm picking up and installing gauges tomorrow and this shit is on.

170 whp? Damn, that sucks... that translates to less than 220 hp in its present state. Get that fixed and enjoy the full experience!

@ the walbro ordeal, its a fuel pump. it pumps your fuel, it wont watch your DVD's or make phone calls. im happy with my walbro as long as it does its job and doesnt crap out in the foreseeable future. also, my 255 is quiet as well, ive never heard it over the noise of my car
