| Its come to my attention that we are having a bit of rice talk lately, so instead of having a bunch of different threads on the topic itd probably be smarter just to have one concentrated rice patty for all to enjoy. So hate it love it praise it or just plain laugh at it, if its rice and u wanna talk about it- it belongs in here. |

| Already ahead of u just this computer is a bit slow- thing is the other rice threads are fairly specific in their topic and itd be a bit weird to mesh them all into one topic (and since it does it by the date of the psot, itd be chaos). Ill let the other ones hopefully die out. And hopefully people will start bringing their ricey questions and needs to here. |

| This fine specimen was up for a motorway drag race (with a rolling start speed approaching the cars limit). It was complete with green wiper blade, bonnet scoop, and front intake. It had chrome wheel-covers and a light in the exhaust tip that lit up when he hit the brakes (was too sunny to get a good photo). I think his ego was a touch inflated, as he thought he had me. Unfortunately i was just aiming a camera to take a photo. Then i waved at him, dropped a gear, and doubled his speed... Silly ricer... |

I f'n love those exterior mods on those cars. I saw a pic of one with a tail pipe that went about 6' up and bent into a star. I love those tailpipes. They're kinda like the ones on the old Beatle you see from time to time. |

Uhh, you might want to look up the thread about... hmm... 15 posts. That site's already been mentioned... ...except that the time it was mentioned above actually showed rice. The one you linked to isn't really rice, it's ingenuity. I mean, come on. A convertible DeLorean? A hovercraft? A 4X4? A limo? Those aren't rice... those are using DeLorean bodies that would've been scrapped for a more interesting purpose. It's when you take a perfectly good DeLorean and turn it into something that looks like it came out of a rice-boy's mommy's garage that it becomes just plain wrong. XD |

I liked the R32 and S14K's, but when i saw all the crap added onto the cars...that got me good. Also the HUGE spoilers and the HUGE mufflers. those were the best. |

Me and a couple friends of mine drove to dallas a couple weeks ago to play ID the arcade (i had never played before, So awesome.) and after playing for 5 hours straight we walked outside to find this in the parking spot across from us. Fortunately I brought my Nikon with me just incase. We laughed all the way home. I should make this into an OW3N3D pic...hahahaha  |

| a turbo CRX... well, assuming that intercooler is there for a reason. It does look like total balls though. as for the Legend coupe with the R33 rear-end. For some reason the fake-me-out skyline thing is very common amongst 2nd gen Legend ricers, I've seen worse. I'd post the pictures, but I really don't care enough. It was a Canadian release only. One version of the 2nd gen CRX, 1989.5 I believe (I know they only made it for 1/2 a year). It was equipted with the B17 found in the 2nd gen Integra GSR's. It was given an AWD system that was similar to, but not nearly as successfull as Nissan's ATTESSA system. Somebody told me there was also a Del Sol GTR, but I'm sure that's complete rubbish. | The VW thing is calling dubbing. "V-dubs" is a nickname for VW's and their style is dubbing. Just go as low as you can, get the deepish mesh dish you can get and go all out with camber. | The hole stretched tires irks me... I consider it rice becuase its something people do to to make their car look better(opinion) that has a negative effect on the cars performance.(much like a 40lb 19 crome rims on a civic). Its severly reducing their contact patch by not only using a way smaller tire then recommended but it also distorts the tire's conact patch becuase the sidewall isnt strate. Keep in mind since that tires today are vastly different then ones from the past and doing this trick doesnt help. On a show car it doesnt bother me. Its their for show and is only to express a style, love it or hate it, they get the look they want and some like it. But now that its become the new trend for the "dorifto'ers"I meen, I can understand why its popular for people who want to drift.. Lots of them still want their big showy bling bling rims like the ones they see in magazines, but obviously dont want to fork over the money for the more expencive wider sport tires when the added friction(traction) is not a priority for the (rear)tires. Makes sense right? but I am seeing everyone else inbetween do it and now many people consider 185 tires on a x8 rims to be the natural fitment choise.. |

Ah, but you see, ricer isn't a term used specifically used for Asian people. Plus, no one really takes it as an insult unless you just have a finger stuck up your ass,. It is used for whoever does external modifications that looks horrible, doesn't match and serves no real purpose (e.g: Civic with a GT wing on the back) and I've seen White, Hispanic, Asian and Black ricers. Rice has a ton of argued definitions.... But basically its stupid modifications.... things done to make a car look fast while it still can't get out of it's own way.... Overdone graphics and stickers of companies that don't have those parts in the car.... Altezza tail lights are usually a big no-no (if their stock on the car their refered to as factory rice) Bodykits themselves are a debated point.... On most cars their pointless other then from a looks point of view (ie rice) because they add weight and the cars don't see anywhere near speeds of places where they add any aerodynamics.... Granted some cars need to add body kits to allow things like FMIC's and keep the lines clean and the parts protected... Also on some cars they can blend well with the car and not look tacky (abiet very rare) Basically body kits to the purist are the same as these monster wings on the back of FWD cars like civics.... OK lets see I'm building a ricemobile wanna be drag car... let me add downforce and weight to the rear of the car so the 75 hp I have has to work harder to make the car go and the tires have a harder time holding on because the weight shift backwards is more so there is even less holding the drive wheels down.... Granted another class of rice is the escalades with the 24 inch spinners (not even going to get into those things on old school caprices and such) But the best way to explain it... anything that nhances looks with no performance upgrade to the automobile is considered rice.... |

Since when do Type Rs not exist in the US? I surely know my friend has a Type R sitting in his garage. And yes, its a performanc car. People would debat more on a STi if its rice or not, due to the "wing" it has. |

i really dont think they make type R in the us, ur friend prolly has the JDM type r emblem bought from Ebay. or it could be an imported car from japan (if the steering wheel is on the right side). but maybe im wrong. I THINK the type Rs in the US are the civic SI and the integra GR-S , u know they always change name. and about the STI i dont think it's rice because it's original factory wing, not some big ass arggressive carbon fiber wings. and here is my definition of ricer lol : Civic + big wing + arggressive body kit + loud ass exhaust + weird paint job = noobass ricer racer wannabe. oh yeah here is the definition of ricers from wikipedia : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ricer |

Actually both cars in and of themself are not rice... abiet as I said before the altezza style lights do qualify as factory rice.... But as was said the every other civic you see with a type R badge is rice because the civic type R was never shipped here factory... Granted I'm sure there are a few imported real deals here... but no where near the amount of civics I see on a given weekend at englishtown raceway.... |

| ^Holy crap! I've seen some overdone Civics, but that one is just plain horrible! Not even 1/4 of that aero needs to be on that car! It's FWD, for cryin' out loud. Maybe a lip spoiler and a front diffuser if the owner is serious, but definitely not all those stickers and aero parts! And I've never heard of an I-4 requiring quad-pipes... if there is any serious power to be had from an I-4, especially a Honda engine, it would only need a dual exhaust at most. GAH! Perhaps it "might" make it as a show car... |

| LOL. That Civic will give me nightmares... but not so much as the car that i posted. BTW, apparently these bodykits are very cheap. I know one fellow at work with a "done up" accord - nearly everything extra on that car costed him 100 bucks each... including his front bumper - which was 100 and resembles an R34 Skyline... I'm kicking myself for spending $1000 on just a front bumper for my car... |
