Story about 30 year old Daikichi who decides to raise and adopt his grandpa's illegitimate 6 year old daughter after he passes away. Very light-hearted and a really heart-warming show to watch. Anyone hating on this, has no heart.

Started watching this in the morning and I like it so far. happy.gif

Art is special too, and it reminds me of Honey and Clover's Shuuji and Hagumi.

So it's ended...

Hmm, nothing much throughout the show. It's basically about parenthood in everyday life.

It's nice to watch, though. happy.gif

Probably my favorite non-sequel show of the summer season.

WTF is up with the 2nd half of the story?

I didn't want to double post, but I just can't let this go without venting a bit. After enjoying the show so much, I decided to read the manga in the little free time I had between summer and fall quarters and now I regret it. I won't spoil anything for people who haven't read the ending, but the end of the series left a rather bad taste in my mouth.

That, being said, I'm really looking forward to the spin-off series to get scanlated since it's supposed to flesh out Rin and Daikichi's early years and I'm HOPING it'll be more like the light-hearted, little-to-no drama series that I fell in love with.

I've like heard nothing good about the 2nd half of the manga for this so far haha laugh.gif

Do you know how far off the anime was till the series effectively "jumped the shark" so to say? lol

There's also gonna be a live-action movie of this too btw :3

Well, the anime stopped right before the time-skip (the story jumped ahead by 10 years). The time-skip itself wasn't that bad (I actually liked it), but things started going downhill from there. Without going into details, there's an entire arc that could have been left out, and they started introducing drama into the series, which I didn't really care for. It was still pretty light hearted by most standards, but it was still a pretty drastic change from the first half. Of course, I guess that's to be expected since Rin's a teenager now.

To answer your question, I'd say the time-skip itself was when the shark was jumped (or the fridge was nuked). Even though things weren't that bad at that point, it was clear that the author had run out of material and decided to change the entire essence of the story.

Oh, and I absolutely hated the ending.
