Why do I have such a strong feeling it's the Scarlett Twins. It's supposed to be fine. Sadly it's kinda lost the essence of the whole Muv-Luv. It's mainly all dere dere now. Sadly.

Heck, even before that--I saw it when episodes 1-2 premiered at Anime Expo this past summer. I've been wishing for years that Alternative would get animated...so hopefully Total Eclipse does well and they decide to continue on. MuvLuv has hardly gotten any love--beyond some minor references in Akane Maniax and that web-short series--so for them to focus on the mecha stuff is..wonderful. Viva MuvLuv Alternative! I hope Alternative gets animated too, but only if they do it properly. MuvLuv Alternative deserves the best it can get, though I would prefer it getting animated along with Extra and Unlimited for the full effect.

Found it on Crunchroll a few weeks ago and went through the first 16 eps like water! Only wished a waited a little longer to start it as I'm really engaged in the story development so far. From what it sounds like though, is there another anime that this is based off of that expands the universe? I'm not quite following what you guys are referring to here:

Total Eclipse was a novel. It's based on a universe created by the erogame 'MuvLuv Alternative'. What we're hoping for is that that game will get an Anime of its own.

You should read the original trilogy of VNs. They're properly translated.

Ah! Thanks for the clarification. After doing some research, this is what I came to understand. (In order of the stories and universe timelines) 1) Muv-Luv (The Original Visual Novel) ... a) Muv-Luv Extra (Part 1 of the novel, then made into a game) ... b) Muv-Luv Unlimited (Part 2 of the novel, also made into a game) 2) Muv-Luv Alternative (follows story line of Muv-Luv Unlimited, which is the last part of the Muv-Luv novel I presume) So going off of the wiki page and your comments, Total Eclipse came after Alternative. After understanding all of this, what you guys in turn are wishing for is for an anime to be made for the prequel of Total Eclipse. GOTCHA! (Sorry for the repeating there, had to process all that information as I was typing it all out.)
Thank you for the info Nomake & Kazahana! I'll definitely look into those novels! Thanks again for the heads up! Edit: Sweet Found the Novel Titles - 01. Muv-Luv 1: Extra: Unmei (マブラヴ 1 EXTRA 運命) 02. Muv-Luv 2: Extra: Yūjō (マブラヴ 2 EXTRA 友情) 03. Muv-Luv 3: Unlimited: Sensō (マブラヴ 3 UNLIMITED 戦争) 04. Muv-Luv 4: Unlimited: Haiboku (マブラヴ 4 UNLIMITED 敗北) 05. Muv-Luv 5: Alternative: Saiki (マブラヴ 5 ALTERNATIVE 再起) 06. Muv-Luv 6: Alternative: Ruten (マブラヴ 6 ALTERNATIVE 流転) 07. Muv-Luv 7: Alternative: Kessen (マブラヴ 7 ALTERNATIVE 決戦)

Incorrect for a few reasons. First, you confuse "novel" and "visual novel." MuvLuv, Extra, Unlimited and Alternative are all visual novels--that is, erogames. Total Eclipse is a novel, that is, a book you read. Second, while Alternative came out first--it had to, it created the universe--the Total Eclipse novel is more of a prequel to Alternative. TE is about the beginning of the BETA war and the international effort to create the more effective TSF technologies seen in Alternative. The original MuvLuv is just a dating sim. Alternative is the one about a gruesome war against aliens featuring giant robots. They are unrelated--thus why the latter is called "Alternative." Edit: Dammit Perry your mobile quote function quoted the wrong part of his post. I meant to reply to the first half. Sorry for the confusion, I'm on my phone 400 miles away from a computer. Muv-Luv appeared on too many media. Lol. TE started out as a LN (Light novel, which is a novel book.) Muv-Luv (consisting of Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited) is a VN (Visual novel, aka eroge, if you would like to refer to it as a game.) Alternative, is a branch off Unlimited, and is also a VN, not a book. Also, Total Eclipse is a few years before Muv-Luv Alternative.
