Initial D Arcade Stage Terminology

General--

BT(Basic Tuned)- Refers to a car that has 120 000 points

FT(Full Tuned)- Refers to a car with 990 000 points

IR - Internet Rankings, the site where you can put up your fastest TA times.

TA- Time Attack, game mode where you race courses for the fastest times. Times may be posted on the IR.

LotS- Legend of the Streets, story mode where you race AI controlled characters

BC- Bunta Challenge, game mode where you challenge Bunta to races. Races get increasingly harder the more you race.
Boost- in battle mode, allows the follower to accelerate faster then normal. Turned off by both racers holding the brake as the game loads.

CP- Check point, generally 4 per stage. Also referred to as laps or sections by some.

Gutter- On Akina, a gutter on the side of the road. Allows to corner much faster

Buntamobile- Refers to the car that Bunta drives, the Subaru Imprezza WRX STi Type R(GC8V)

Fishing- taking an opponents car to your cars best level, or their cars worst level. Not to be confused with someone taking you to a level they are good at, when there car is not the best car on that level.

Fisher- someone who fishes

Techniques--

Out-In-Out- the basic racing line, start the car on the outside, brake, release gas, turn to the inside, gas at the apex, and then exit to the outside

Feint Motion- start on the inside lane, then feint to the outside, turn like normal. Takes a longer line, but results in faster exit speed

5 in 4 out- enter the corner and then downshift at the apex. Sacrifices braking distance for a faster exit speed

Eraser- turn the car slightly to the inside, then quickly downshift and upshift before braking. Increases corner entry angle, thus allowing for a faster exit. Can be stacked. Has more effect with cars that tend to understeer, rather then cars the oversteer naturaly.

TST(Tsat Seung Tsat or Eraser on Eraser)- two erasers while moving to the inside line to feint. Basically the very fastest form of turning if used properly.

Half TST - Erasing 2 times to the inside, feinting out, but not doing another eraser. Sometimes useful for drifty cars. If a drifty cars may slide too much doing a full TST, so sometimes doing a half TST is the best bet.

Machine Gun Shifting- Rapidly downshifting to decrease the braking distance needed

Apex Ramming/Rail Jumping- advanced Iro technique(also used by Capp on Myogi dry and most other cars on Myogi wet), use varies between cars, direcetions, and conditions. In essence, you use erasers to begin turning the car, then hit the inside railing early, using it to finish turning the car. If timed poorly, it can result in either reversing yourself, or eating the outside wall. The car will suffer an acceleration penalty, however, the exit speed will be far greater. How often you use it depends on what car is being used and what condition is being played.
For example, outside of the first jump, the Evo 4 responds poorly to being rammed. The 86M is another example of this, the wall recovery in this car is terrible. However, most cars can use it ATLEAST on the first jump through the last jump. Some cars on wet(S2000, S15, MR2, other slidey crap FRs) can benefit from using it on EVERY corner in the whole course.

Alex@ Method: Prematurely shifting to 5 so you can do 5 in 4 out.

ABT(Asaki's Braking Technique): Angling the wheel only 10-15 degrees in the direction of the corner, and then using the brake to turn. Primarily used for Iro in V2 with drifty cars like the Cappucino

Blocking- Staying infront of your opponent and preventing them from passing. This is NOT a dirty technique.

Cutting off- Moving in front of your opponent before you have a full car length advantage. This is NOT a dirty technique.

Reversing- Tactic on Iro where the leader purposely gets caught on the apex so the follower gets turned around and goes the wrong way. Gray area tactic, generally not considered dirty.

Course Specific--

Myogi:
GC(Grand Curve)- the only real corner on Myogi, looks like a wide V

Usui:
C121- the wide 3 lane corner between the 2 hairpins

Butterfly corners- the 3 consecutive corners in the end of CP1
L Turn- the second corner in CP2. Sometimes inappropriately referred to as the Vturn
The Vturn- the first hard right hand turn immediately after CP3 begins

Akina:
S Curves - After the 4th hairpin. It's the twisty road that leads to RHOD
RHOD(Right Hander Of Death)- After the snake Curves. The Sharp Right Hand turn at the end of CP2. Makes or breaks your TA. known as LHOD on the UH
3 lane turn - the first turn of CP3 DH
Consecs- The four consecutive hairpins in CP3.
Fireworks hairpin- The last hairpin in CP4 before the long straightaway

Iro:
Teahouse turn- the fast left hander before the 1st jump, named this from the tea house on the left.
Jumps- the jumps after then teahouse turn

Happo:
CP1 consecs- about half way through CP1 IB, the quick left-right-left-right part
Snake Hairpins- the 4 hairpins in the beginning of CP3 IB/end of CP2 OB.
Tunnel turn - the turn marking roughly the 1/2 way mark of the course, the one with the tunnel.

W/M turn- the turn that looks like an M

Tsuchi:
The Bridge Turn - the 1st corner requiring you to slow down on OB, 2nd to last IB

for machine gun shifting...what does it mean by rapidly downshifting?

Great job on making this thread. Hopefully, like xkhol said, this will prevent new members from making new posts everytime they have a simple question about technique or whatever.

I didn't know the last turn on Akina before the straight away was called the Fireworks hairpin until now.

Those guys are very good, but they aren't up to the level as the other guys I mentioned. I really just wanted to stick the best of the best in there, or if someone invented a technique, or is known for driving a car, etc...

At any rate, there are tons of great people that I didn't mention, mainly because they aren't QUITE up there... like Jhun, Skaction(Darin), Ro, Tom, Mike!, Whoa!, Lunar, Lubert, Darky, Boro, the guys you mentioned, the Kengai crew, etc... maybe I should make honorable mentions? I dunno tho, then the list just kinda gets too long

Posted by: ePiz Mar 9 2005, 06:32 PM
hahahaha... i was just wondering i was thinking that those name you mention are TA wise smile.gif

Try using the search button next time, ok ? Would be an aweful waste of space to put that search function up there for nothing, no ?

very rough representation of a right hairpin, the apex is like the point shown in the pic, had to put the dots in to stop it from deleting the spaces in the middle. For a clearer pic click on the attachment pic.

i believe some people also use the term fishing to describe the act of beating a less skilled player by just a bit in hopes of them rechallenging you. if they rechallenge you, then they have taken the bait.

yup... I agree with Excel with why he did what he did...

a lot of us have things done in our own right, but honestly it's still not WR/recognition status.

But in it's own right.... Shouldn't Kengai be on the list considering JJ and Bart are Kengai now?

should you also add Start/Wall ramming: the act of cockin the wheel in an angle to bash the opponent into the wall in the start of the race to get start-up.

and I don't know if Dilip has a name for the type of machine gun he does, but it involves goin 6<5<4<3<2<1<2<3<4<5 quite often??? a technique I tend to use often, especially Iro.

zyk is the pwner on reverse. He doesnt play DH as much as he plays reverse. i think if he played DH as much as reverse, he would probably have a '57 IMO.

Posted by: Zykara Mar 11 2005, 01:14 AM
y all this talk about me?

I never play iro dh... I did the 58.7 with 2 games and only posted it coz it was Aus #1... I did the wet back when v3 first came out...

as for rev I am slow with e4... I prefer to use weaker cars... I am within 1 sec of model records for every single car excluding e4, rx8, 180sx and GC8V...

I just notice that the record holders for Akina Snow are 15 and younger.
Bart is 15 and he has the DH record and HKS is 14 and he has the uphill record.
Wow! amazing....
j/w what does CKF and HKS stand for?

Zyk: I'll get you my CP times today, I run 3'08"0 in evo IV but I think I take turns real wide, I know I can improve >_<

HKS Kansai is a Japanese tuning company, they do everything from turbos to engine mods to suspension kits. CKF I have no idea what it means.

hey I didnt read all 4 pages on this thread but I'm a canadian player and u forgot 2 things which are very evident to canadian players:

2FAST = way better than u give him credit for, the only one who can even compete with him is Lunar

Lunar = also one of the best ID players canada has to offer, he's not much of a TA'er although he did set out to beat 2Fast's time on happo (and succeeded) but he's mostly known for being a S!CK battler, probably why u wouldn't know about him since he doesn't rly make it a point to time attack lol

UL = Project Unlimited, one PWNAGE team, Lunar is part of it as well as many insane racers, it's mostly an all out battle team however - again, probably why u wouldn't know about them cuz of the lack of TA lol

There are a few unknowns who actually come close to world records in canada too actually, I've seen them player in downtown montreal randomly, but I never see any of their names on the ID ranking's page (some get 2'54 on akina and dont post their times sad.gif ) so canada rly isn't as much of a pushover as ur description makes it seem shifty2.gif lol

Posted by: Excel Mar 14 2005, 02:09 PM
I know Lunar. He is quite good. He is very good at TA, but I didn't know he was such a good battler, like you said. Who else is in UL? I just know about 2fast, Lunar, and Cici...

CKF... ummm... dunno. Maybe its like Masaki(MSK), and its his name, or something?

Posted by: Elite Mar 14 2005, 03:47 PM
so his name HKS jus stands for car tuning company. I thought it would be something like Masaki(MSK). i thought hks would stand for something that's like Masaki in MSK.

ya I don't think anyone else besides them can get '54. maybe '55 is possible for canada. I always thought Jobo had the fastest time from there

Posted by: Spirit Mar 14 2005, 07:37 PM
Jobo is the fastest according to the IR. So unless someone actually posts a faster time for the Canadian IR to prove that they're faster, I guess Jobo remains the fastest.

-Who is he/she?: 99 consecutive victories last I checked, unbeatable on any and all courses by anyone in Brisbane. Beat me on Akagi uphill by a ten second margin... the only person to be able to decimate me on Akagi uphill in the area.

who the fuk is sky?

the only person from bris should be KAYO... w00t2.gif

Like I said, a group of guys that come in usually late on a saturday or sunday night all using the one RX8 card... untouchable in a battle... I came close on Akagi uphill but they have the same kind of bullshit fast acceleration that Bunta has on a straight, once it opens up they gain meters in 10's as though you weren't moving...

I think I may have beaten KAYO on Akagi uphill (could be wrong though, I'm not good with remembering names, and would've got whipped everywhere else), but not these guys, once we passed the first section they were gone.

They're fastest on Shomaru and Tsuchi.

Possibly, I don't know many of the other guys that well... I just turn up, win on some uphills and get blasted EVERYWHERE else....

If you don't mind though, tell me more about this Treasury Force... my interest is piqued

Treasury Force is the fastest team in Bris... they have a few members... the main one to look out for would be KAYO...

They might be the guys you see playing... but they would do more TA than Battle w00t2.gif

Then I don't think Sky's with them... they usually come in seperately... and no offence to Gumgo or Karen, cause I've raced them both a lot and they're damn fast, but I think Sky's faster... could be wrong, but I can beat Karen and Gumgo uphill on Akagi and I couldn't touch Sky...

But it's entirely possible I'm wrong.

I must say though after I beat Gumgo on Akagi, he turned around in an Evo 5 and flogged my time attack score... so I'm obviously bad at that, and good at battles. unsure.gif

you should tell this SKY guy to post his times... w00t2.gif

No offense, but if you don't already know how to do it, then you aren't good enough to benefit from them. Its really something you just pick up on as you play and improve.

I disagree, back when I first learned how to eraser it was on akagi, a friend of mine just used my car and made me watch him play it, then he said "u've seen how to do it, now try it and notice where u see the difference", which ended up helping turns A LOT lol so I pretty much used eraser where I saw him use it and tried different things till I got it. So as far as videos not helping, I think for certain things like the gutters on akina it might be a bit impossible to do if u dont notice it urself, cuz for someone just watching a video it looks like they're hitting the wall when in fact they're going into the gutter..but for other things such as feint and eraser vids can help by telling u when and where to use them. After that - just like everything else, it's all about practice plain and simple.

In case ur going to say "exactly, practice = u pick up on it", well sure but if ur trying to learn eraser and ur doing it where u really dont need to like myogi's grand curve, it's kind of harder to learn how to use correctly..so vids pretty much make learning techniques happen faster IMO.

laugh.gif No offence, but this is major BS, unless for some reason yuet and CKF visited canada laugh.gif

kind of old but it caught my eye as I was checkin out how far back the yuet debates went.

yes there are ppl running 2'54 on akina, I saw someone do it like 3 months ago, then him and his friend ran a 2'58 battle, which I find to be kinda crazy considering battles take away from ur concentration heh but ya canada is definitely faster than u think, my guess would be that ppl who can run these times cant match the same level of skill on other courses and dont wanna look fake by posting a good time on only a single course and getting pwnt on others, and another alternative might be that they just wont bother to post it until they get a world record, I used to post some times with my first RX8 back when I was learning to play just cuz it was fun but now I dont even think about it unless I see that I got a model record, I'm extremely close to the RX8 model record for both myogi and usui both ways, but posting it is kinda useless especially on those courses since unless u have THE record no one really notices u lol

Posted by: Excel May 15 2005, 09:35 PM
I talked to Lunar and David, they both said that no one in MTL has 2'54... In fact, I'll direct Lunar to this topic since he is a member here.

And for the record, if you run a 2'54 on Akina, you pretty much have the record, since the record is like 2'54'95 or something.

Posted by: GAGE May 15 2005, 09:40 PM
nah I think I was either downtown or at the arcade in st-laurent, which are the 2 I mostly play at, I remember cuz they had messed up card names like those ppl who have (-.-) for a name and stuff like that, they were asian (not sure exactly from where) and ya I definitely know for sure that a 2'54 was run in canada lol

I even remember watching 2Fast(david) make his akina vid and thinking "hey that guy was faster than him" which to me was a shock since I never really see anyone with faster times than 2Fast haha

Posted by: Kei May 17 2005, 08:24 PM
dude... I live in montreal and there is NO ONE who has 2'54... your probably thinking about a 56...
so stop bull shitting

Posted by: GAGE May 17 2005, 08:32 PM
no I'm sure it was a '54, I cant find it in the TA scores at either arcade so either it was somewhere else that I went to or the machines reset, but either way I'm POSITIVE it was a '54

btw where do u play? I've been hoping someone else on this forum would be in montreal lol

Posted by: Kei May 17 2005, 08:34 PM
I play downtown.. 2000+

edit: and theres no way someone did 2'54 down here...
and the machines don't get resetted

Posted by: GAGE May 17 2005, 08:38 PM
nice I go there from time to time, I work at the arcade in st-laurent near cote-vertu metro so I'm there most of the time, but I'm at 2000 every now and then if ID is out of order at Mira (arcade I work at) which happens pretty often lol

edit:

I just saw ur edit, and yes they do get reset, it happened at the arcade I work at a lil while ago cuz there was a problem, and I work there so I would know lol, I dont think I've ever seen the machines downtown go out of order tho so I think it might've just been at an other arcade I went to, but again...I'm POSITIVE it was a '54

Posted by: GAGE May 17 2005, 08:45 PM

Posted by: Kei May 17 2005, 08:45 PM
if i'm not mistaken... Gage your Terry right?

and there is no 2'54 down here.. it's impossible..
if JOBO can't do it how would someone here do it..

Posted by: GAGE May 17 2005, 08:50 PM
lol no I'm not Terry, but I'm friends with him and Heat, we all play at Mira after skool randomly during the week lol but I have a few card names, my FIRST car I made was an rx8 with GAGE as the card name, I think I might still have some old ridiculously crappy times up somewhere lol but my new car (also now my main car) is a GDB with card name Yang, I used to have the same thing a while ago but I sucked with it so I gave it up and went over to a buntacar until I lossed it due to inspection, now I went back to the GDB with a bit more of an understanding of the game haha and I'm doing rly good wit it, speaking of terry and heat, I just finished whoopin them today lolol they were pretty pissed haha laugh.gif

edit:
and again..I'm SURE it was a '54, just cuz JOBO cant do it doesn't mean no one can lol I used to SUCK at akina (which is now my fav course) so ppl thought I sucked until I raced them on myogi and was magically able to run an almost perfect line lol so surprises can happen, which brnigs me back to my point about people that might only be good on one course but not equally as good on other courses, which lead them to not want to post a time because ppl might accuse them of it not being their real time since they cant live up to it on other courses

Posted by: Excel May 18 2005, 05:17 AM
But still, only two people in the WORLD have posted 2'54 on Akina, one of them is like 2'54'993, and the other one is like 2'54'96, both from Hong Kong. Also, they had to use techniques that weren't even invented until this year to do it.

I saw this around 3 months ago so all techniques were nice and fluent even then, and even tho I myself wonder why they wouldn't post their '54 since I looked at the rankings page and saw how high the '54's are, but that just brings me back to my first point of why I think they didnt want to post it:

People like Yuet etc etc etc are known for pwning ver 3, now imagine someone were to get a world record on a course because that's like the only course they play (I know a lot of ppl who are only good at one snigle course lol) and are then known for being "better" than ppl like yuet, but then end up totally sucking on other tracks (compared to the world record they currently hold), just based on the response given on this forum about it, dont u think they would want to be able to live up to the skill displayed? cuz I mean, if I saw someone running a '37 in their ranking's page or something on tsuchi, I'd be like ohmy.gif nice! but then I see their akina time and they run a 3'04 I'd be like dry.gif are u sure ur the one who pulled the '37 on tsuchi....?

So I dunno I'm just as lossed as to why the guy didnt post it, but that's the only reason I could think of cuz there is no mistake about the time I saw lol the guy ran a '54 for sure

btw kei, when do u usually play downtown? I dont think I've ever seen a Kenji playing before, I'd like to see ya in action lol

Posted by: Kei May 18 2005, 10:51 AM
if someone got a 54 down here they would have posted it already..
practically everyone who plays ID down here knows about the IR..
so yeah u didn't see a 54 your probably halucinating lol

also i'm too good to be caught playing >_> lol jkz jkz
I go downtown on the saturday..

and who do u know who think there better than yuet?
if it's people from mira then thats messed up... because no one from mira has that much skill.. I don't mean they suck but there not at a high level of skill..

Posted by: Excel May 18 2005, 12:02 PM
Well, your argument has a flaw. Have you EVER seen ANYONE with a world record, or something close to one, ever just be good at just one stage? You yourself pointed it out.

Yuet isn't just good at one stage, hes good at all. 2fast isn't just good at Shomaru, hes good at every course. Bart isn't just good at Akina Snow, hes good at every course. Sure, world record holders DO have bad courses, but even there bad courses are still better then most people. Barts not that great at Tsuchi, but hes still the fastest on it in US West(that I know of).

The techniques for one course aren't just for one course, they can be applied to every course, and therefore, its impossible for someone to do world record times on one course and then do absolute crap on another. I mean, worst case scenario, say one guy has only played Akina, he has a 2'55 or something. Then, he tries Akagi. Sure, the first time he might get like 2'29. But if he plays the course a few more times, once he has it memorized, I am 100% POSITIVE that he will be running 2'23s atleast.

This is true for everyone I know. For example, a forum member here named Shinn, for the longest time, all he played was Akagi. He played until he got 2'20. Then he moved on to Akina. First game he played was with his Evo 3. First game of Akina EVER that he played on V3, he got like 3'03 with an EVO 3!!

Name 1 specific person that is within 1 second of a world record and has other times that suck, and I will back off your case.

Posted by: GAGE May 18 2005, 12:04 PM
no no I didnt say ppl who think they are better than yuet, I meant about people that are only good on one course, and totally suck on others lol (btw 2Fast used to play at mira all the time back when he played lol so it isn't THAT low on skill..even tho now it's mostly average players that go there with the exception of a few)

I'll see if I can get downtown this sat before work, not sure but I would most likely get there between 1-3 cuz I start at 4 lol

edit:
as for excel's point, I really dont know, like I said I'm as surprised as u guys are since I saw the IR for akina, but I dunno, I know it was a '54 I can guarantee that, if only I woulda had my camera cell back then to take a pic of it lol

Posted by: Kei May 18 2005, 12:56 PM
If i'm not mistaken 2fasts old home arcade used to be atlas angrignion *which was my old home arcade also* so yeah lol mira doesn't get any rep cuz he played there for awhile >_> lol

and I'll say this one last time.. there is no one who has 2'54 downhere....
theres only like 2-3 people who can use TST properly.. everyone else barely knows anything about the techniques..

Posted by: GAGE May 18 2005, 02:19 PM
actually 2fast played everywhere but he goes to vanier and so do I...mira is 2 secs from there he would go there like every day after skool..soooo ya mira does get rep for that

anyways wutev I know it was a '54 but I have no proof considering wut the IR says so wutev, if I ever see it again I'll be sure to take a pic I guess

I have to agree with excel on this one man, 2'54, that's a bit too much man, maybe if you would have said '55, or maybe you saw a 56"4? That I would understand, but '54?!? I KNOW IT WAS A '54, BELIEVE ME OR NOT THAT'S WHAT IT WAS

lol what's up man,I knew it was you.. say hey to Daniel for me...
Anyway...

Look..... let me just tell the truth..I know what I'm talking about. No one's ever seen this guy you're talking about, no one's heard of him, and no one knows him..How can someone out of the blue run a '54 on Akina.. I think you probably saw him running '54 on either Myogi, usui or Tsuchi.. Either way, if you're so convinced you saw it (which I doubt) then answers these questions.....

1.Do you actually know how much perfection you need to run a 54? How every small tiny microscopic detail and perfection you need to get a '54?I know you don't. On the other hand,I know, Excel knows, Zykara, Sp!ke and etc..and some other ppl.We are possibly the only ppl in an area other than HK that knows how fast a '54 is. I don't care if you think the guy you saw was good, he probably ran a '54 on myogi, or usui..He did not run a '54 on Akina that's for sure. Besides, every since 2fast quit ID, the only good players left in MTL is me and Kenji..and some others that are slightly-above decent...

2.Have you ACTUALLY WITNESSED the '54 being run in person!?? Were you THERE when this ''MYSTERIOUS'' player (that does not exist might I add) actually ran the '54?? How is it justifiable if you never even saw someone run a simple '56? (compared to a '54). I have been to all arcades open in MTL, and never seen someone different than the Mira ppl, or the 2k+ ppl. Everyone that's good and plays ID, I know about that person. There is no mysterious guy that has '54 on Akina and I don't know about it.

3.As long as you don't have ANY...and I repeat ''ANY'' proof of it, it's not believable, end of story. If you want me (an ACTUAL active player in MTL,who knows every single ''good'' player in MTL) to believe that SOME GUY no one's ever seen, talked to, or knows, ran a '54 on AKINA in MTL, then you're definitely dreaming. I can say I'm Santa Claus and I run 2'18 on Akagi, and you'll have to believe me.I'm telling you the truth, I have a 2'18 on akagi!! w00t2.gif I just don't feel like posting it... shifty2.gif

So, no matter what you say, or think you saw, it's not real. Either get REAL PICTURES or anything that will prove you saw that, or let's just shut the hell up right now. There's a '54 on myogi, usui heck even a '54 on Akina SNOW...(ugh) but there is no '54 on Akina.

And just to tell other ppl in the forums that don't live in my area..., unfortunatly MTL has a LOT and a LOT of bullshitters.(Not pointing at GAGE, talking about other ppl that say they have this and they have that, but in the end it's nothing.)So, maybe someone tricked gage into believing something that wasn't really there. (I mean, have you ever seen one of David Blaine's illusion tricks?? fear2.gif )

lol lunar yes I know how brutally hard it is to get '54 cuz I watched 2Fast try to do it with his buntacar but topped off at '58 I think? I forget wut he managed but yes I do know the perfectness it takes to run even under 3'00 (all things considered), but yes I was also there when the guy ran it, I didnt see his beginning so I wouldn't be able to tell u what kind of techniques he was using compared to yuet and those people, but I did see him from about half way thru (u know where the conseq's are on akina wit the gutters?) and no I wasn't going crazy and imagining usui or myogi as being akina lol it was definitely akina (not snow), and yes he finished with a '54, like I've been saying no I dont have any proof but I'm jus telling u wut wut happened, had this been now I woulda been liek blink.gif but 3 months ago u remember how daniel and I were lol we didnt know much about IR and that kinda stuff I didnt think much of it until I saw david running his vids and having trouble to even hit the '56 he currently has (I think that's his best time as of when he quit, correct me if I'm wrong) but I can definitely positively say it was akina dh dry with a trueno running a '54. I just hope some day someone DOES post a canadian time of '54 so that I can actually prove it lolz but as far as what ur saying about no one knowing of that person and not posting it on IR, I'm as lost and wondering "wtf?" as u guys all are lol especially since now I know how blink.gif that actually is lol but all I can say is that's wut happened and ya..hopefully proof will be out in the future lol

Gage.. There's a reason why only 2 ppl in the world have '54. Even extreme pros such as GT_HO and MSK couldn't do it themselves. The BEST players in the world can't do it.Someone that I never seen or heard of, or even 2fast himself never witnessed, couldn't have done a '54 on Akina. To top it off, I think that someone with the capacity of doing a '54 besides Yuet and CKF would have wanted to post that '54 AS SOON AS HE GOT IT. ESPECIALLY if he was from MTL. MTLers do not have the habit of hiding times you know lol (especially for this long)

And you say this was done 3 months ago, that is BULLSHIT. The TST only got to MTL like 1/2 to 2 months ago, when Jobo came to MTL and showed us how to properly do TST. (Heat, Terry and Joe are witnesses.) So this guy couldn't possibly have done a '54 without properly knowing TST and Eraser...Not to mention CKF and Yuet only got their '54 about 3 months ago. How could anyone have gotten a '54 before THOSE mofos...?3 months ago you say? pshh not true. Even I only completely learned the TST about 1 month ago. Someone unknown to the MTL community could not have learned this technique 3 months in advance of others.....If you don't know this, then you don't live in MTL. Everyone knows everyone in the MTL community. Besides me, only Kenji can do TST and honestly, we both haven't mastered it.

Now,although I WISH someone from MTL COULD be capable of doing a '54,(that would be sweet), that is NOT reality. Let's all wake up.

CoastalmixX : IF there was a '54 on any machine in MTL, I would have seen it. I played everywhere, our top time in MTL is 2fast's time, which is only 56'9. No '54.

ehhh...no? and first of all I do remember the card name which I said in an earlier post, it was something like when ppl have (-.-) as a card name, that kinda thing. second of all like I said 3 months ago I was still kinda new to the game so I didnt think much of it, that's y I was like woot he's pretty good, but I didnt really know or care about the world records and stuff like that, I had no idea the wrold record was a '54 so close to '55 until everyone made a big fuss about it in this thread and I went and checked on the IR. warn me if u want but I'm telling u now, if u want me to "admit" a.k.a. lie and say that it was made up, then ur gonna have to get everyone that posted in this thread about it to admit that my cat pwns u all, u want me to admit stuff that isn't true, then ur all gonna do the same.

and for the last time, I'm not friggin lying or making stuff up, it was a '54 PERIOD.

then explain why NO ONE has ever seen it..if u can remember the card name, at least even vaguely, u can remember the arcade...
so just name every arcade you've ever been to since you've been playing ID, and if Lunar has been to every single one, that is proof against you

if anything, you probably think you saw a '54, when in fact, it could have been a '5x'4
that's alot more reasonable..because since you claim you didn't know much, or care about the game, why would you remember that time so clearly since you supposedly didn't know how good it waS?

''3 months ago I was still kinda new to the game ''

1.Since you were starting, you could've EASILY been confused by the times, since you WERE new to the game, you couldn't know what's a '54 or not.You can't remember a time that was on a machine 3 MONTHS ago so clearly. You were a n00b and you ''supposedly'' saw a '54 on a machine....since you didn't CARE or KNOW about how fast this time is, you can't possibly remember it SO CLEARLY!

2.Since you were starting, you couldn't POSSIBLY know who's good or not lol come on.. lol All n00bs that see me play doesn't see a difference between me and a player 1. The reason is simple, they don't know nothing about the game, so everything is the same.So you couldn't possibly know how fast it was.
And I am telling you, I have been playing ID since it came out, I would know..I WOULD KNOW if there was someone faster than me or 2fast in MTL.Even if it was 6 months ago, 1 year ago whatever, I WOULD KNOW.

NOW... No matter how convinced you are..We are telling you.. There is no way it was a '54.. I told you how hard it is to get a '54..It's not something anyone or some shmuck can do anytime he wants!... It wasn't a '54, that's for sure.No one in MTL has the card name (-.-) .. and even if some NOOB did, I SERIOUSLY doubt he would be capable of doing a '54 so EASILY... like out of the blue.. I seriously doubt he would be capable of doing a 3'04 for that matter...

Now, if you're still so convinced that '' I know what I saw '' blah blah blah...
There's only 2 possible reasons to explain the magical T/A of christmas that you SURELY saw.

1.Yuet or CKF were magically here in MTL doing I-Don't-Know-What and he somehow knew where our arcades was, and felt bored so he did a '54 in front of you when you were just a n00b and didn't know what you were seeing. But somehow you remember the time CRISTAL CLEAR and you are 100% sure of it..somehow. rolleyes.gif

2.The mysterious man of the night that you saw was so fast that he did a '54. He showed no happiness about it whatsoever. But he didn't wanna post his time on IR, because he saw you watching his run and wanted you to come to this forum on purpose and tell people you saw a '54 so we wouldn't believe you on purpose so he could post it 6 months later and make us all shut the hell up once and for all.And If we believe in it ALL at once, he will take us to NEVERLAND! w00t2.gif

So whatever, believe what you want. It was a '54 that you saw. And I saw a 2'12 on Akagi, a 1'50 on Akina Snow. What I'm telling you. Some dude with a Miata did those times. He just didn't wanna post cuz he said something about disturbing the balance of nature.....or something like that. w00t2.gif

EDIT : This is the last time I post about this, it wasn't a '54, I'm not some n00b telling you this, I know what I'm talking about. Believe whatever you want, it wasn't a '54. Like Zykara said, whatever helps you sleep at night.Believe what you want.

I was watching one of the initial D movies and Ry (Ryousuke) does a move called heel toe turning or something i was wondering what is it and can you use it at all in the game?

Posted by: FoxTheLegend Jun 29 2005, 03:06 PM
No, u can't use heel-toe in the game. There is no clutch.

Posted by: doogiemazdaRX-8 Jun 29 2005, 06:54 PM
what is it though

Posted by: FoxTheLegend Jun 29 2005, 07:21 PM
I think you should be asking that in the automotive forum or elsewhere of IDW. Just cause personally, i can't drive and don't know how to heel-toe properly.

Posted by: J2.0 Jun 29 2005, 07:33 PM
i think heel and toe causes your car to drift, but keeps your rpms high throughout the drift so you can have a faster exit speed.

Posted by: Excel Jun 30 2005, 04:43 PM
Heel-toe is not just a drifting technique... Here is my indepth description:

The higher the RPMs on your car are, the faster your acceleration is. When you corner, you must slow down. However, if you just release the gas and brake, your RPMs will drop. Therefore, you use your left foot to brake, and right foot to tap the accelerator and keep the RPMs up. This gives you better acceleration then if you just let the RPMs drop. Thats for a light corner. Now on a tighter corner, you have to downshift. This is where stuff gets hairy. You must operate 3 pedals with two legs to brake, accelerate and shift. Obviously, you must use 1 foot for 2 pedals. So when you enter the corner, you put the clutch in with your left foot, then brake with your toes, shift your foot horizontally and tap the gas with your right foot.

Theres also a new way to do heel-toe(altho its not really heel-toe), and that is to brake with the rightside of your right foot, and then roll your ankle so the side of your foot hits the gas. I think heel-toe is alot easier though.

So bottom line: it gives you better acceleration.

Posted by: doogiemazdaRX-8 Jun 30 2005, 10:29 PM
but i thought holding the brake down and hitting the gas messes up your brakes big time

Posted by: Excel Jul 1 2005, 05:51 AM
Racing in general messes your car up big time... Altho heel-toe downshift doesn't mess up your brakes, as the clutch is in when you hit the gas.

Actual, heel-toe downshifting has its practical uses... does less wear on the transmission and also has smoother shifting.

first turn on akina there is a sort of long straight/ u go into the middle of the road and double eraser into the inside and then do a feint drift plus eraser and 5 in 4 out. and u exit super fast.

i believe the apex is also known as takin the best line, the straightest line possible in other words, such as in the snake dowhhill after the fireworks rite hander on akina , u dont flow with the whole turn, u just gently turn the wheel barly , and take the turn.

The apex is the highest point/vertex of a turn. Like in the anime when Takumi enters a hairpin using the gutter and exits at the mid-point, that's the apex.

Take for example the turn before the first jump, I believe he erasers 2-3 times then shifts to 6th then down to 5th.

That's just the same as doing 6i5o with a 6-gear car or 5i4o with a 5-gear.

oooo. "i see!", said the blind man.

edit - i watched video again, and i noticed he did that "6in5out" thing again at the 3rd to last corner [ FF to 3.20 min. in the vid if you have it]. he does them just like erasers though. is that the same thing?

The "backwards eraser" is only supposed to be used on some turns, making speed faster. This is hard to do, especially when ur used to doing the normal eraser, i can't even do it properly...sleep.gif

I beat the lock. I think it's used when posting in a stupid topic that you know is gonna be locked, so by saying "IBTL" you're 'celebrating' that you posted before it got locked.

ok i dunno if any of u do this, or if this is atech already mentioned i might have missed

wen ur in lag for example
u drop to 143 on akina, because u hit a wall u start losin speed slowly but surely

he recomends to stay on fifth gear shift up twice ( as though going to shift to 5th) and then down shift to 4th and then to 5th, all in a quick sequence, iv noticed it helps to get out of lag and and u regain speed, does anyone else knoe of this, i do it and iv notice it works, or is it just some thing that happens because messin wit the RPMS or somehtine, help me out here people blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

Well, if you hit the wall so hard that you have to downshift, I guess you should downshift.

But if you are asking if downshifting quickly then upshifting gets rid of the acceleration penalty, then no, it doesnt/

something like that but i mean in akina u shift to 5th at wut 144,143 in other words ur rite at the border, doing the tech i described helps stop the drop of speed and regain acceleration

NOTE ** shift point is for 86
