So its a good thing then ? NO ! You are still able to save the Game as usual but sooner or later, your card will reach its limit and that's it, all your data will be LOST ! I have been using mine for about 250x and a friend of mine uses his for about 500x and both are still ok so far 1) Will there be an ENGLISH Version ? - I don't think so ? But most likely no 2) So what version do we get ? - EXP Version ( Japanese Language ) 3) Can I transfer my IDAS4 ENG Version Card to IDAS5 EXP Version ? - Sadly no ! 4) Can we still customize the car's body-kits ? - Yes we can ( Some say it will affect the Car's Performance unlike V4 ) 5) What is the best car for IDAS5 ? - Same as IDAS4, every map has their own "Course Car" which performs better on their home-course, so there is no "BEST CAR" 6) Show me the "Course Car" list ! Lake Akina Counter Clock Wise - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX Lake Akina Clock Wise - Subaru Impreza GDBF Myogi DH - Honda Civic EG6 Myogi UH - Nissan Skyline GTR32 Akagi DH - Mazda RX7 FC3S Akagi UH - Mazda RX7 Type R (FD3S) Akina DH - Toyota Trueno Sprinter AE86 Akina UH - Subaru Impreza GC8 Irohazaka DH - Toyota MR2 Irohazaka UH - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III Tsukuba OB - Honda S2000 Tsukuba IB - Nissan Skyline GTR34 --- 2 New Course --- Happogahara OB - Honda Civic Type R EK9 Happogahara IB - Honda Integra DC2 Nagao DH - Toyota MR-S S Edition Nagao UH - Toyota Supra RZ 7) Show me the "New Car" list ! Toyota MR-S S EDITION [ZZW30] Toyota SUPRA RZ [JZA80] Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII GSR [CT9A] Mazda RX-7 Type RS [FD3S.6] Mazda ROADSTER RS [NB8C] 8) Where is the Tuning Shop ? - Its a bit different from IDAS4, After playing 3x, eject your card. When you play the next game, choose the 2nd menu option ( will be highlighted in green if tuning is available ) in just before you choose your Game Mode ( Story / TA / In-Store Battle ) 9) What is the best Tuning Method ? - Similar to IDAS4, just tune it the way you like - Special Option will be available for some Cars, so you might want to get that 1st Toyota AE86 Trueno: At Engine Step-7 = 12K RPM Racing Engine / Supercharger / Turbo Toyota AE85 and AE86 Levin: At Engine Step-7 = Supercharger / Turbo / Engine Balancing (NA engine) Honda Integra DC2: At Engine Step-7 = Turbo / Engine Balancing (NA engine) Lancer Evolution 3: At ECU Step-7 = Misfiring System Mazda RX-7 Type R: At Engine Step-7 = Keisuke's / Kyoko's Turbo Mazda RX-7 Type R: At Bodywork Step-4 = Keisuke's / Kyoko's Roll-cage - All the Options performs the same, only the looks/sounds are different - The upgrades are divided into 5 Categories with 7 steps : - Engine, Drive Train - STEP-1 Mechanical LSD STEP-2 Light Flywheel STEP-3 Reinforced Clutch STEP-4 High-flow Turbine STEP-5 Port Grinding STEP-6 Bore Increase STEP-7 Large-caliber Turbine (Turbo car), Full Balance removing (NA cars) - Intake/Exhaust, Cooling System - STEP-1 Air Cleaner STEP-2 Sports Catalyst STEP-3 Large Caliber Throttle STEP-4 Oil Cooler STEP-5 EX Manifold STEP-6 Large-capacity Radiator STEP-7 Large-scale Intercooler - Suspension & Wheels - STEP-1 Racing Brake Pad STEP-2 Mesh Hose STEP-3 High-performance Suspension STEP-4 Reinforced Stabilizer STEP-5 Reinforced Suspension Arms STEP-6 Big Brake Calipers STEP-7 Large Diameter Brake Rotor - Bodywork - STEP-1 Tower Bar STEP-2 Front Ladder Bar STEP-3 Rear Ladder Bar STEP-4 Roll Bar STEP-5 Lightening Lv1 STEP-6 Lightening Lv2 STEP-7 Spot weld increase - Electronic Components (ECU) - STEP-1 Hyper-ground Wiring STEP-2 Racing Plugs STEP-3 Dry Batteries STEP-4 ROM Rewriting STEP-5 Boost Improvement STEP-6 Sub Computer STEP-7 Full Computer 10) How to attack a corner in IDAS5 ? - Most corner in IDAS5 need to be taken at 2nd Gear ! - Cornering speeds approx 60-90kmh ! - Cornering with less steering (wheel) angle is desired ! Official Tutorial [Jap] http://initiald.sega.jp/ind5/lounge/column01_01.html Basically we (BRAKE! and Downshift to 2nd Gear at the same time) until the proper corner speed, turn the steering wheel lightly, and then accelerate only when you are OUT! of the corner ( Not during cornering ! ) You may say that your exit speed will be faster if you start accelerating during cornering but then your acceleration during the straight will be slower because of the "tire management system" / traction and such ( Welcome to IDAS5 ) 11) Must we use the brakes ? - Sadly yes 12) Does Eraser & PC still work? - Sadly No 13) How about SUPER ULTRA LATE BRAKING ? - Use it only when you are dozing off and forget there is a corner coming up, it helps you so that you won't hit the wall but your car will slide quite wide resulting a slower acceleration, but better than the penalty for hitting a wall 14) What are the different shift points in the game ? - Just shift when your car is over-reving 15) What is the best start-up for the game? - For TA keeps your rev at 1/4 and then accelerate when GO, as for Battle keep rev at 0 then accelerate when the count reach 1. 16) What car has the best start-up in the game ? - Most people say that this is the order 4WD > FR > MR > FF - This is shadow_z3ro experiment log so credits goes to him Tested during a Battle on Irohazaka DW with boost off FT Subaru Impreza GC8 (4WD) Vs. FT Mazda MX-5 NB8C (FR) 1 : Both car full gas on countdown (Hot Start). The Impreza straight away lead by 2m 2 : Both car uses TA way of starting up. 1/4 gas on countdown. when there's another 1/3 seconds left to GO, full gas. The Impreza had a 1.5m lead over the MX-5. 3 : No throttle during countdown. After the word "GO" both stepped full gas, and the cars started out evenly. Shadow_z3ro tried this on a couple of different maps that has no line advantages on start-up, and the results are always the same. He then tried with a stock MR2 (FR) and a stock R32 (4WD). Same thing happens the R32 has the advantage. He then test a stock Supra (FR) with a stock R34 (4WD). Same results, with the 4WD taking the lead. In conclusion, only drive-train will affect the start-up whether your car has 5/6 Gear 17) What is Tire Management / Boost everyone is talking about ? - When you take a turn slower than usual on your earlier sectors, you will get a boost acceleration. Example ( Slow CP1 , CP2 & CP3 = Boosted CP4 ) 18) I'm new, what car do you think I should make first ? - Most people say that FF cars are best for starters, up to you 19) What happens if I clear the games more than 10x ? - The CPU's difficulty maximum level is still 10 but your card will still print how many loops you have cleared, you can also choose the difficulty from 0 to 10 in the options menu 20) Links to discussion thread - [Boost Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37870 - [Technical Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37416 - [Time Attack Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37825 - [Show Off Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37631 - [Videos thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37429 --- Car's Thread --- - [Toyota Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37794 - [Mazda Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37795 - [Mitsubishi Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37798 - [Subaru Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37797 - [Honda Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37796 - [Nissan Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=37990 - [Suzuki Thread] https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=38016 22) How to add more cars to your garage ? - As usual, play the game, choose the 2nd option ( The one that enables you to tune or change your car ), If you only have 1 car, there should be only 2 options for you. - 1st is your current car, and 2nd is some Japanese Words, select the 2nd one and the machine will ask you for coins to create a new car, simply enter the amount of coins set by your Arcade and you will go to the car selection menu. 23) How to delete / replace a car in the garage ? - This can only be done when you already have 3 cars in your garage. As usual, play the game, choose the 2nd option ( The one that enables you to tune or change your car ), highlight the car that you want to replace and press "VIEW CHANGE". Usually you press the "START" button if you want to select or tune your car. i tested it. i'll copy and paste what i've written on another thread. i realised this when i was battling some people that even with my fully tuned nb8c, i kept losing the startup to a half baked r32. so i experimented with my friend. he had a fully tuned gc8v and i had a fully tuned nb8c. on iro dh's starting straightway. boost off, so that we are sure that the boost doesn't kick in. experiment number 1: both of us full gas on countdown. when the race started. the imprezza straight away took 2 meter lead. experiment number 2: we tried the TA way of starting up. 1/4 gas on countdown. when there's anothe 1/3 seconds left to GO, full gas. The gc8 had a 1.5m lead over my car. experiment number 3. no gas at countdown. after the word Go we stepped full gas, and the cars started out evenly. we tried this on a couple of different maps that had no line advantages on startup. and the results were the same. we tried with a stock mr2 and a stock r32. same thing. the r32 had the advantage. also tried the supra with the r34. same results, with the 4wd taking the lead.

Very useful information. Much thanks and appreciation. Have you tried testing the different start-up techniques against each other though? I'm curious as to which technique gives the best outcome or is that going to be car dependent? This post has been edited by bROCKoLEE on May 10 2009, 02:07 AM

that is because it is the same no1 supra guy that runs the other cars as well, similar as myogi uphill, evo7 is the "2nd homecourse car" in nagao up, kind of like 86 levin in akina down and FC in akagi up

Underdog Nutcase Group: Advanced Members Posts: 1,169 Member No.: 32,096 Joined: Mar 9th 2009 Location: Update Profile | How should I tune my car? Common tuning methods:-- Balanced tuning: 1/1/1/1/1... 2/2/2/2/2... 3/3/3/3/3... until 7/7/7/7/7 Engine power first: 7//0/0/0/0... 7/7/0/0/0... until 7/7/7/7/7 Or any other combination. It doesn't matter in the end because all cars end up as 7/7/7/7/7 when complete. Some cars have 'specials' you may be interested to tune first... Toyota AE86 Trueno: At Engine Step-7 --> 12k RPM Race Engine or Supercharger or Turbo Toyota AE85 and AE86 Levin: At Engine Step-7 --> Supercharger or Turbo or Engine Balancing (NA engine) Honda Integra DC2: At Engine Step-7 --> Turbo or Engine Balancing (NA engine) Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 3: At Electrical Step-7 --> Misfiring System The specials all work the same. Equally fast They only look and/or sound different. ---------------------------------------------- 20) What happens if I clear the games more than 10x ? - The CPU's difficulty level stays at 10 but your card will still print how many loops you have cleared - CPU difficult have a minimum of 1. Maximum whichever lvl you are currently at up to max lvl 10. It is changable by the player in the Options menu available on inserting the card. Reading is magic! Group: Advanced Members Posts: 2,601 Member No.: 30,700 Joined: Sep 24th 2008 Location: Philippines | Ill just add in The whole Grip-or-Drift drive styles; clarifying what both would feel like. Drift is exactly that; you use the accelerator to swing out your rear so you go into the corner faster, but with more risk of losing control. Then again even if we 'grip' the car still slides a little, im thinking it would be more accurate to define it as a 'Minimal Drift' style? Catchy sounding term please. >.> |

As to avoid any confusion, this should be updated to "Mazda RX-7 Type R (FD3S)", since the RX-7 Type RS FD does not get any homecourse boost for Akagi UH.

only specific corners are 'minimal drift' when i watch my akina runs its very rare for the back to swing out even for a 'minimal drift' .. at most its the teeniest powerslide

Minimal drift refering to Godhand's tire management technique, that it isnt too obvious a drift, but a fusion of both. I havent seen a grip replay that doesnt show smoke coming from the tires yet.The back does'nt have to swing, just let the car slide a bit, which I consider a small drift in itself.
