Thats just how it is supposed to be. You dont get the 11k tachometer unless you pick the racing engine.

yea only 11k for racing engine. for step 7, you can choose any of the 3, not the first one listed there, but now its too late, you cant get the racing engine anymore sad.gif

ahhh waiting to get flamed it seems.. hahaha... well its never been asked but still...

Step 7 for 86 has 3 choices.. Supecharger, Turbo or Racing engine.. Racing engine has 11K on the RPM.. but in the end its just all the same.. smile.gif but having a turbo charged 86 is something special.. =)

I have a turbo and an all motor 86. I made the all motor when the game first came out but I prefer the turbo to help me grasp penalty cancel since. I still suck but using the turbo version has help greatly with learning to penalty cancel.

On the contary i regret picking the racing engine...i would have picked the turbocharged engine if i had a choice. i can hardly hear the overrev sound with the racing engine.

well...it doesn't matter....it just that choosing turbocharged is an unique move....coz most of them r choosing racing engine...i will soon FT my 86T...so i think i would choose either bolt on turbo or a supercharger...definitely not racing engine...since everyone had it...

when you get to Step7 of your engine,
there should be three available choices for you,
the turbo, supercharger(i think), and the racing engine,
and all three are open for selection-
however, you can only choose one out of the three,
the only difference is in the sounds and the gauges,
oh yeah take note that once you choose one, its there forever
[you can't re-pick your engine] smile.gif

yeah, they are pretty much the same,
except for the different engine sounds ermm2.gif
also, alot of people pick the racing engine to "copy" takumi
and of course, simply to obtain a sense of achievement and pro-ness
just by looking at that tachometer laugh.gif

if you're asking whether your car will be faster with a bolt-on turbo compared to the ubiquitous racing engine, then the answer is no... since performance between the two step 7 engine mods is relatively the same whether you have the racing engine or the bolt-on turbo...

but if you're still currently tuning your car, meaning it's not 7-7-7-7-7 (full-tuned) yet, then it does help since every internal upgrade does help your car gradually go faster...

my bad if i constructed my answer in this manner because i was unsure as to whether you're asking if the bolt-on turbo is better than the racing engine or the supercharger... or if you're asking if having the bolt-on turbo helps you in your 86's tuning process... confused2.gif

Yes!! I mean i'm tuning my car right now! i just started playing this game this summer.
And I am now at the step 7 engine thingie. I picked the 50000 pts bolt-on turbo upgrade, and my question is now that i have an engine upgrade, will my car be faster with this turbo? i mean top speed and all, and shift points higher? (example: on Akina DH i used to shift to 5th gear at 139-140km/h, now with the turbo will it be around 145km/h?) My question was about stuff like that..

thanx for you help

Yes, any of the mechanical tuning you do will make your car faster. In fact, your gearing might even change depending on what tune level you are at (certain gears go higher 1-2 kph)

OK now, got another question...

I saw vids on youtube of 2:58 or 2'59 times with the Trueno on Akina DH Dry and I observed the speeds at which they were shifting gears and overall top speeds in different points of the track. My Trueno is now step 7 for engine, I have a bolt-on turbo. I read in another thread here on this forum that u can choose among 3 engines for the Trueno (including "racing engine"): is this "bolt-on turbo" one of those 3 "engines"??? Or u have to pick one of the 3 engines after u start a card and choose Option A or Option B setting for your car?

About speeds I saw on these 2:59 vids on Akina DH Dry, in no way i can reach the speeds i saw: they shift to 4th gear at 123km/h (my car redline at 120km/h) and they shift to 5th gear when at 145km/h (i redline at 140km/h). Don't forget my car is step 7 engine with this bolt-on turbo option!! and i still cant approach in no way these speeds i saw! am i missing something somewhere? was it when i started my card/car that i had to choose engine there after the 2 games (Option A/Option B thingie) ????

Thanx for helping me whistling.gif

Oh just went back to play today and ejected my card after every play, and then i got into the "Customizing Shop" thing and realized I never selected the "Exhaust & Intake" option on the Engine biggrin.gif I picked the 1st one, an air filter, and played again. I figured out my car was slightly faster than before.. now i can feel im closer to the performance i saw on youtube vids.. For Engine i am step 7, Exhaust & Intake i am now step 1.. now i see why my car was so slow lol.. even with the bolt-on Turbo upgrade. I still have 6 other things to buy on the Exhaust & Intake option, and my car will be FT biggrin.gif

Thanx anyway,

See ya blink.gif
