Long story short, we no longer own a Crown Victoria. I'm inheriting a 2000 Honda Civic. My question is, would I be able to transfer the plates from the Crown Vic on to the Honda Civic?

I'm concerned that they're both different car/body types, and therefore would need different plates for the Honda Civic.
Thx for any input. ♡♡♡

My city issues the plates through the County Tax Assessor-Collector; Google-up your city's Tax Assesor and ask them if you can transfer the plates from one vehicle to another. If not, don't worry, you don't have to give the plates back; they're yours to keep, just tell them you lost them or something... so if the plate design is something you're fond of~ just tell them you lost them. What they care about is the Sticker on the lower left windshield; that, you do have to trade in for another set of plates.

But yeah, ask your city's Tax Collector or ask the Dmv or google up the answer of who's in charge of license plates within your city. They'll be able to tell you a quick and direct answer, it you can transfer them or not.

G'luck! I got like 10 different plates for one vehicle in my house~ laugh.gif

Different car = different registration. New plates (and associated fees) are a given, unfortunately.

In my state, I can transfer plates. It's a lot cheaper than a new registration, but it is only a plate transfer, and it will not extend your registration, so if it's up in a month, you paid $4.50 for a month's worth of driving. New plates are included in the price of a new registration though, which is the same price as a renewal here.

I really gotta find a place that sells this junk cheaper; so far I've wasted 400 USD on two of these things~

Especially when personal plates for any car typically cost maybe $70 every year. You're getting snaked, dude.

Indeed~!! pinch2.gif

I just wanted some nice looking plates to have for when I buy that future Subie and/or NSX (I WISH!)... the only time I'd be putting them on the car is when I attend IDW meets or do photo shoots/videos with the car(s).

Like fuuuuuuuuuuu~ I would ever pay a yearly subscription of more than 5 bucks for license plates. xD

They're just two [15.25 x 30.50 cm] pressed pieces of metal with acrylic numb3rs glued onto it... which is why the cost of production kills me every time I order one... derp.gif!?

Edit: Just as a sidenote; Each design is 150 USD (the annual cost). Plus fees & taxes, one custom plate totals to 200 USD. Hence 400 buckaroos for the [A0-104] and the [CIRNO] plates. facepalm.gif
