Posted by: r3d$unz Sep 7 2005, 06:11 AM
read up on the Sega's PSP titles being shown at TGS this year and I dont see anything on Initial D

according to pspupdates.com the following titles will be on display by Sega:
– Sega
Puyo Puyo Fever 2 [Chyuu-!]
Guilty Gear XX #RELOAD

SO for now I will raise the BS flag but who knows it might become reality

Posted by: Terry Sep 7 2005, 06:21 AM
I was just looking on PSPUpdates for any news on it. Still no news from Wab or PSP-Dev either sad.gif. I've got a UK 1.52.

Posted by: Jezza_HR Sep 7 2005, 06:22 AM
I'm waiting for my source to come back with some proof. Please wait.....

Ok it would appear it was announced in todays issue of Famitsu grin2.gif

I can only assume people are waiting for solid proof or just dont care laugh.gif

Posted by: am3pkcet Sep 8 2005, 10:01 AM
i've had a psp since launch day back in march, so no need for further investment other than games for me smile.gif

works for the 4 of em... music and movies dont...

4 cuz...

Korean

but you can still go for trial-error through the game

yeap, just like good ol special stage

Posted by: [Project.D]-Demon Sep 10 2005, 01:45 PM
so let me guess the only way that we are able to get it is thru ebay then huh???
and when is it expected to come out??

Posted by: Jezza_HR Sep 10 2005, 01:54 PM
As always keep an eye on www.Yesasia.com to avoid risky E-bay business and pick up possible Ltd Edition goodies. As for a release date, it's expected for a 'Winter 2005' release. So I'm guessing late October or early November myself

Posted by: viet_tak Sep 10 2005, 02:08 PM
the way i see it they might release one in america because they brought the v3 over and trans it so y not do it now???

Posted by: Jezza_HR Sep 10 2005, 02:33 PM
Actually, since drifting is becoming more popular over the world I think Special Stage and Street Stage have high possibilities of reaching the western market. Kaido Battle is getting a release in the UK this winter in light of drifting reaching new highs.

IGN.com says Japan release date is March 30, 2006

it also says Japan only besides the US release details

LAME.

and its pretty obvious its only for japan. just like special stage. at least psp's dont need modchips or trickery to play it.

Posted by: r3d$unz Sep 10 2005, 05:32 PM
I try not to believe IGN's release date till we get an actual official announcement

Posted by: Smiley_DC2 Sep 10 2005, 05:45 PM
well even if it does come out on March, that's still pretty early considering the announcement being made not so long ago smile.gif

Posted by: Takeshi Nakazato Sep 10 2005, 11:13 PM
i figured they would add extras from version three. just think about it, Special Stage was like Version 2.5 and now this? I mean who didnt see this as a Version 3.5? YAY! A GAME I GET TO ACTUALLY BUY AND KEEP FOR MY PSP!

Posted by: Jezza_HR Sep 11 2005, 02:21 AM

But im just going to guess that they're going to have Shin-Myogi, Shin-Usui, Momiji Line and Enna, and those will be the only new courses.

Too bad they're so damn expensive... I could just get a PS2 and Special Stage for half the cost of the PSP itself.

Agreed! Now I'm definently gonna sink my teeth into a PSP just for this game, as well as other games that I always wanted to play. But seriously though, it would've been cool if they made Street Stage for the PS2 as well. Oh well, I ain't complaining! It's Initial D on the go, after all! I can't wait for the game to come out! grin2.gif

Posted by: Tessou Sep 15 2005, 10:07 PM
You speak as if there's a lot of reading involved in Arcade/Street stage. Seriously, it's 5 seconds of generic "I'm gonna beat you", followed by a race, followed by "How the hell?!"

The hardest thing possible in this game would be learning what the hell each of the tuner cards does to your car.

If all else fails: trial and error.

Posted by: Takeshi Nakazato Sep 16 2005, 06:24 PM
thats what i did on SS, lol

Posted by: Tessou Sep 16 2005, 07:39 PM
Tons of reading involved or not, I'm still gonna import this sucker once it's available.

If I could make it through Another Stage, I can definitely tackle this one.

Posted by: xdriftx Sep 16 2005, 07:40 PM
pffft...someone on gamefaqs would always translate the game menus and stuff for us.

anyway, if there's a Story mode like SS, then there should definitely be an english version...only sub the japanese vocals though

Posted by: L-plate-drift Sep 16 2005, 07:51 PM
Looks great, but it's still essentially a dumbed down port of Special Stage + card features. I'll wait for the PS3 follow up to the Special Stage.

Posted by: Tessou Sep 16 2005, 08:25 PM
It's an expanded version of Arcade Stage v3. The only things that'll be dumbed down are the car models and the sound.

which can't be good, since everybody retard will know about the game and act like the 'shit'

Posted by: sdfgdg Oct 5 2005, 08:23 AM
just keep an eye out on all the game sites like lik-sang and what not for pre-order
cause that way you usually get free worldwide postage aswell which can save you a couple of bucks

from what i know about it its version 3 but the quality has obviously been dropped so it'll run on the psp

i WOULD buy this if the psp's in australia weren't pieces of shit that are only worthy of the recycle bin
for those who dont know aussie psp's have been made faulty and you get dead pixels after only a couple weeks after buying it, IF you dont have more than 10 dead pixels sony will not replace them or refund you, so say if you get 9 dead pixels across your screen and then no more die then your stuck with a f**ked psp

which is why i'm never buying one, DS all the way

Posted by: am3pkcet Oct 5 2005, 10:01 AM
this has about as much possibility of an american release as special stage did, ie NONE.

Posted by: Dem Oct 5 2005, 10:06 AM
I was walking through Fry's Electronics one day, and when I came across the PSP section, I noticed that they had imported games. So, you might want to try your luck there.

Can PSP cds be played on the PS2 ? The truth is I'm not spending any moola on a psp. I'd rather save it and buy a PS3. But , this is Initial D.....

Posted by: Kakashi Nov 25 2005, 08:20 PM
You should just save your money for the PS3, PSP ain't all that great.

Posted by: azninnovation Nov 25 2005, 08:49 PM
yea the psp isn't all that great. it's alright cuz i bought the 1 gig memory card but that barely holds what i would like it to hold. I would really rather buy an ipod video for 300 bucks.

There is a card collection system in the PSP version. It is yet unknown if the card will influence the gameplay.

You can still play japanese games on a U.S. PSP.

You just have to import it from play-asia.com or something when it comes out.

I'm sure that if you can navigate your way through the Japanese version of IDAS (or Special Stage for that matter) you'll have no trouble.

If all else fails, consult gamefaqs.com

haspieuw, you are correct on the language settings. The asian version is in chinese, but it comes with an english-language manual. The japan version comes with a japanese manual (damn it). I wish I could get the english manual... my japanese is still a tad shaky. sweatingbullets.gif

Yesasia sucks. I tried to preorder the game, I made my account, but when I want to checkout, an error page appears. So I can't pre-order the game there...

Anyone with order experience with Play-Asia.com? The "Asian" version on theres IS $39.90(before tax) like previously mentioned and comes with an English manual. That's significanlty cheaper than Yesasia.com's price. Infact, the Asian version on YA.com costs more than the Jap. version, so this is a strange turn around. I want to know if they're reliable and fast.

f**k YESASIA ASKJHFASDKLFASDDFSDASFD

Sorry but I'm sick of it. I can't pre-order the game and the horrible customer service don't give a damn....

Is anybody who pre-order the game at yesasia or i'm play-asia il a better place...

Ah, wow, never knew of that site. Thanks biggrin.gif They look pretty good. Scores are all 7+ and the pricing is 5+ but they have a great deal on this game so I'll most definately pre-order it from them.

Posted by: lee_integra Jan 23 2006, 05:16 AM
Shouldn't they make an international version of this game, with an English translation? I mean COME ON! Afterall English is the global standard.

Posted by: xsleepydrifterx Jan 23 2006, 08:29 AM
I know a ton of info on this game. I pre-ordered it from a japan game company on ebay. Pre-orderers get a limited edition Ry (Ryousuke) Takahashi video UMD with witheld content that no one knows. It comes out Feb 23rd.

happy.gif Yes the Ryosuke Takahashi Limited Edition UMD is included with all pre-orders. Im only worried that because it is a UMD video, it would be region locked. Only games are region-free, not movies. will they make this UMD region free? we will see. smile.gif

haha go to westernunion.com. lol or if you wanna do what I did you get the cost of the item in cash+$17 processing fee, then go to a western union. pick out a form (gray i think) that says send cash through western union. fill it out:(item number, seller info, your info etc.), then u pay them and in a matter of seconds youre payment is sent. ask a rep for more info.

or so. I think the processing fee depends on where you send the money. Im sending it to H.K. which Im glad so I get the english manual.

and for anyone who wants that vid of that kid playing street stage horribly, its on psp.ign.com keyword: initial d psp and about the output to the big screen to play. any a/v cable only plays sound. no video. sorry. They mustve wired it in the vid or special cables. Im sure they will come up with a cable to play psp on a tv. c'mon even nintendo did it.

What do you mean by "what is the deal with this english manual"? All I know is that it is only being included with the asian (read: chinese) version of the game.

For the love of God, somebody translate it and bring it stateside! That'll clear the issue right away!

Oh and Yui chan thanks for the info on the UMD content. Cant wait till I get it. I love pre-orders!

I sure as hell would appreciate it. I'm not going to buy both versions just to get a manual I can actually understand.

Posted by: xsleepydrifterx Jan 25 2006, 11:24 PM
Theyre just weipd I guess. China and Japan arent really best friends. China probably wants more customers as you do see many products that say "made in China." They just made the manual.

So if you pre-order the asian or japanese game you get a free movie UMD with it too?

I wanna get the chinese version since it's cheaper but if this game is like special stage and it ends up having the voice actors in the game I'd rather have the japanese version....

Posted by: Tessou Jan 29 2006, 01:17 PM
If some people in the US game companies would get off their asses and bring this game stateside, I'd get that version instead. grin2.gif

Not sure if voices will be a part of this release. It'd be a first for portable Initial D gaming, though.

There was that GBA Initial D game but...but this one will be greater by far, probably even greater than the Special Stage as well if they include a story mode that covers the same stuff it did in special stage plus some more.

Posted by: imprezagc8 Jan 29 2006, 02:12 PM
does anyone know if there is going to be an english version?

if not then i'll just get the japanese version

Posted by: Tessou Jan 29 2006, 02:13 PM
I know there was a GBA game. Another Stage was a great game once you got used to the gameplay. I meant that if Street Stage has voices implemented, then it would be the first one to feature them in all of Initial D portable gaming history.

Initial D Gaiden (GB) --> Initial D Another Stage (GBA) --> Initial D Street Stage (PSP)

EDIT: @imprezagc8 - No word yet on an english release. Seeing how stingy the guys overseas can be when it comes to licensing the series thanks to a few mistakes on our end (note: Mountain Vengeance, Initial D DVD English Dub), it doesn't have much of a chance of being translated for a domestic release.

If they'd just let the guys that translated Arcade Stage also do Street Stage, we'd be in business.

Posted by: imprezagc8 Jan 29 2006, 02:31 PM
it would suck if it did get translated but they did a bad job

i think i'll get the jap. ver. just to be safe

Yeah! it looks likmd it would. But Ive used my PSP for all types of things so I can deal.

DCEVO3:Yeah it has Akina-Snow.

Everyone the UMD is usually region-locked, but a company can chose whether to or not. They might not knowing the amount of foreign fans. We have to hope Tokyopop doesn take this game and make a repeat of the PC game.

Realize the game is just a port of the arcade with a new card system in substitution for points. Nothing different.^^

They can't make a repeat of the PC game with just the Initial D Street Stage game itself...the worse they could do would be add the tokyopop music and ruin the dialogue when it shows the text when the characters talk.

EDIT: Instead of the point system you get cards to upgrade your car with for instance you can probably get a card for ECU and Change high diffrential oil and you probably will get part exchange cars too like rims and spoilers and all that stuff. I'm not %100 sure but i'm pretty sure that's how it will be.
