To make it simple, it's from the creative team who did Deathnote.

http://www9.nhk.or.jp/anime/bakuman/

Plot Summary copied from:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encycloped...me.php?id=11197

Plot Summary: Moritaka Mashiro, a junior high school student, content to live out a relatively normal life as any other does, is persuaded by his classmate, Akito Takagi, to become an aspiring mangaka when the latter realizes his natural talent as an artist. However, Moritaka is reluctant to pursue his dream as his uncle, once a mangaka with his own serializations, died from overwork trying to regain his lost status. With Akito's help, Takagi gets another classmate and his school crush, Azuki Miho, who is an aspiring voice actress, to voice in the anime adaptation of their future manga once it is completed. However, Mashiro also proposes to Azuki, who surprisingly accepts only on the condition she will marry him when both of them have achieved their dreams. With a goal set before him, Mashiro begins a long and struggling path to become a famous mangaka.

I heard it was a rumour earlier today, I'm glad that it is confirmed that it is being animated.

lol i initially got Bakuman mixed up with the soy source Kikkoman at first. I was like what!? An anime of this?! Surely you've got to be kidding lol laugh.gif

Seems to be a pretty cool show and I'll be looking forward to it. About an aspiring writer and two 9th grade boys wanting to draw manga.

It's funny how the manga about people making a manga to make an anime is getting an anime before they reach that part in the story ha ha...

Yah it's not a surprising answer to hear that from people, almost most of my local anime friends thought I was talking about Bakugan. Even one of my friends who talked about Bakuman to me got me thinking it was Bakugan he was talking about lol.

There was this one chart for the fall or winter season I saw and it said that Bakuman would be on there, but it was unofficial, so don't expect too much.
Which is a shame, as I've read the first few chapters recently, and I think it's a pretty good series.

Definitely going to be checking this out, considering Satoshi Hino is voicing one of the protagonists. <3

Fansub wiki and Chartfag are your go to destination for the down low on the upcoming anime seasons.

Bakuman is definitely something I'll be looking into when it airs happy.gif

You say that it will be animated by the Death Note team right?

I expect exploding potato chip scenes.

Not necessarily. The manga was written and illustrated by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, the original "Death Note" team, but I don't know who will be doing the animation here.
If it's the same studio that did the Death Note anime, that would be pretty cool. Or should I say, all according to keikaku? tongue.gif

Death Note anime was by Madhouse (Akagi, Claymore, Gungrave, etc.), whilst J.C.Staff (Shana, Shigofumi, Toradora, etc.) will be doing the Bakuman anime. J.C Staff makes some pretty solid anime so it should be in good hands although it may fall short of epic chip munching proportions laugh.gif.

But isn't J.C. Staff sort of known for kind of introducing their own things in some of the adaptations they do (Zero no Tsukaima, Chrono Crusade)?

Yeah, they do, but they usually do a pretty stand-up job with them. Sure, the novels for Zero no Tsukaima were WAY better than the anime, but the anime was still pretty awesome. *gestures towards avatar* laugh.gif

They're not afraid to deviate from the source material time to time. Whether it ends up being a good thing or bad thing is a case to case issue imo.

First episode has been translated, haven't gotten around to watching it, since I've been watching the much more disturbing Ore No Imouto in it's place, not to mention the Iron Man anime adaptation has started, AND Star Driver. It's been on my HDD for about a day, will get around to it sometime /boggle.

Haven't had a chance to check out the first episode but I will when I get the chance. Since this is a tent-pole Jump series I take it that there is no clear cut end, i.e. 26 episodes only?
