http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5-demo-hits-december-17/ Finally, something new. Should hold me off a little while longer until March lol |
Posted by: am3pkcet Dec 7 2009, 12:10 PM |
So this is new thing separate from GT5p? The already-kind-of-a-GT5-demo? |
Posted by: vhsfootball_82 Dec 7 2009, 12:27 PM |
nice...cant wait till dec 17....that should hold me off for 8 more days till i get MW2 for christmas lol i was playing forza 3 yesterday and i was like.......wheres GT5? but someone told me that GT5 is being released in march in japan only, then afterwards its US... i dont know...thats just people on the net... EDIT: GT Academy? Some special Competition going on between dec and jan? cool im in lol.. itll be hard to reach the top 20.... |
Posted by: Phantom_R32 Dec 7 2009, 01:07 PM
Yeah, it's new. It's actually called "Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial Challenge". Top 20 people get to go to some "GT Academy competition" thing... Hopefully it shows damage or something different for once :\ |
Posted by: BOZZ Dec 7 2009, 01:59 PM |
Well here's hoping this time, the GT5 demo is free... |
Posted by: am3pkcet Dec 7 2009, 05:57 PM
Lol, still in development, where it's been for the better part of a decade. see also: not being played by gamers. ;P |
Posted by: RalliKai Dec 8 2009, 07:33 AM |
Can't wait to try this. Was hoping they would put in more then just the 370Z though. |
Posted by: am3pkcet Dec 8 2009, 12:38 PM |
Wait... its only one car?? =/ |
Posted by: Phantom_R32 Dec 8 2009, 12:41 PM |
Well, two if you count the stock and tuned 370z.. But same car nonetheless. :\ Watch it be like 2gigs to download LOL |
Posted by: RalliKai Dec 8 2009, 01:03 PM
Hmm, makes me wonder how much HD space the game data from the full game version will take up. |
Posted by: Phantom_R32 Dec 8 2009, 01:04 PM
I'm guessing it'll be between 5-7gigs. I'm not sure why Demo's take up so much space. |
Posted by: vhsfootball_82 Dec 15 2009, 11:32 PM |
gamestop shows that it will be shipped on 2/2/2010 The Full Game of course... i sure hope so... i cant wait any longer rawr.. |
Posted by: MattW Dec 16 2009, 12:04 AM
Trust me man, it won't, haha. The 'demo' only features the two cars and track, cause it's more intended for the GT Academy than anything. |

Pushed back to Summer now http://www.destructoid.com/gran-turismo-5-gets-targeted-for-summer-2010-release-157655.phtml WHY ARE THEY WAITING SO LONG. I'm sure the game is better than Forza 3 already, it's been in production for 5 freakin' years. JUST RELEASE IT |
Posted by: MattW Dec 16 2009, 06:05 AM
The game is only like 70% done.... |

GT5 demo on the Japanese PSN store apparently... edit: confirmed by above? |
Posted by: BOZZ Dec 17 2009, 06:00 AM |
Well for one thing it's not on the Canadian PSN store which makes me QQ... |
Posted by: am3pkcet Dec 17 2009, 10:04 AM
Why is ANYBODY surprised by this? Remember when GT5 was supposed to come out december 2008? |
Posted by: BOZZ Dec 17 2009, 10:51 AM
Ah well, stuff like this happens from time to time (i.e. GT5, Too Human). |
Posted by: vhsfootball_82 Dec 17 2009, 11:32 AM |
wtf? i made an australian acc...and the demo is there. where is it for USA people? and how do i get rid off the australian account? i just wantd to see if it was out. |
Posted by: Phantom_R32 Dec 17 2009, 11:47 AM |
The U.S. store usually updates around 5-6pm EST. I'm downloading it off the japanese store though Btw, I heard the demo is really small. Graphics were toned down, sound etc etc. They just wanted to show the new physics engine + use it for the GT academy time attack race. So don't expect it to be amazing graphics and sound when you download it. |

now that i think about it...... ill have to download it tomorrow lol....ill be off to work at 5pm....bummers... and yeah its only 200 or so mbs.... but i tried playing it and says that the game cannot play with the video output i have... wtf? I dont have an HDTV yet but i dont think thats the problem... i think ill just wait for the US version lol... |
Posted by: BOZZ Dec 17 2009, 05:16 PM
Canadian PSN store still does not have it... I am QQing as I type this... |

Think of it this way, when it does come out for real, you'll have a truly entertaining game. |
Posted by: am3pkcet Dec 17 2009, 06:58 PM |
just played the demo briefly. i think the biggest disappointment was STILL the complete lack of damage. and the game feels dead, empty, and lifeless. its the same drab that GT has always had, and i dont know what it is about forza, but the cars, the sounds, and the environments all look and sound more alive. meh. i have no doubts that the final release will be a fantastic game, especially paired to a driving force pro or G25/G27, but iduno. i wasn't blown away by the demo at all. |
Posted by: BOZZ Dec 18 2009, 12:39 AM |
Well the focus on the demo was supposed to be the physics engine, which would explain why the game is a paltry 240 MB (and compressed). |

The physic is not so bad, but I still prefer Simbin physic with the wheel.
I don't see a huge difference between GT5 Academy demo & GT5 prologue. The Dash look very blurred in comparison to Forza 3. The response of the wheel seem like to lag by 15ms more.(tiny detail) EDIT** Here my current time with both cars http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y12/111lika111/IMG_3872.jpg |

Man... After seeing how smooth it looks with the wheel compared to my DS3. My only complaint now is that I hope PD doesn't pull a "Initial D: Extreme Stage" and make the game handle like shit with the controller while it handles nicely with a wheel. Thus, forcing people to buy wheels. |
Posted by: BOZZ Dec 22 2009, 07:05 PM |
I played the demo myself and I have to say it feels a lot more smoother (physics) than Prologue. |

All I have to say is, I feel sad that I don't own a steering wheel for my ps3, coes playing it with a controller is hard since you've got no feel with the thing. But I digress, just waiting until the full release. Then the war between Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo will go on, again... |

bstbuy has the basic lgoitech wheel for $30 util saturday. no pedals, just wheel. |
