its been about a half year since Sega released IDES, but it seems to me that sega has stopped caring for ES since summer. There has been no release of any sort of DLC since the avatar that psn is gonna make you PAY for.

the only good DLC was the 3 cars, the mangas were stupid because you could just go watch battle stage 2.

IDES wasn't as promising as it looked when sega announced it. They didn't even make the game up to a PS3 expectation. In fact, Special Stage was a much better game in terms of physics, gameplay, and replay values. The only reason that ES survived until now is because of the online gameplay

sega let me down once again (after the release of IDAS4 1.5)
I hope IDAS5 makes up for the mess AS4 caused.

My only wish was 2-player split screen capability.

Added DLC was not a priority for me for this game as I didn't really expect anything to begin with. I still find IDES the most played game for me personally, but I do understand that the replay value is lacking in many aspects. I do hope that they release "IDES2" but as a overall better package. Or at least make new courses and modes available for download. That would be cool.

Do you guys think that the console version of IDAS5 is a question of "when" it will be released or a matter of "if" it will be released?

More of an IF, IMO.

Justification?

Sales numbers would be a good start. I couldn't find up to date numbers, but it looked like since the first weeks end of selling nearly 44k globally, the number had dropped considerably 3 months later with only selling 1500 that week. globally. What would justify said sales? Boredom of the game. No excitement.

Unless they see considerable turnout from ID5, I wouldn't get your hopes up of a port to PS3 again.

Agreed, but I like to know sales figures from previous ID console games. If other ID games followed the same trend (initial high sales with an immediate drop in sales) , and yet new games were being ported to consoles, than maybe we can suspect a new game.

I'm just hoping really.

That graphic showing just in the few weeks that Special Stage was out showed immense success.

Wow, IDES did so poor compared to Special Stage. I guess we are really going to have to cross our fingers to get a new ID for PS3.

It's really Sega's fault. IDES was just IDAS4 with Happogahara tacked on. They didn't really put much work into it. There weren't any significant new features, and many of the annoying things present in the arcade version were still there. They didnt' put nearly enough time into it as they should have.

If the game had mics.... it would be more interesting.

Sega put a lot of effort into Special stage for sure (story mode + additional courses, not to mention Iketani's car introduction lol)

Special stage contained almost 300% more of AS2

as for IDAS4, I could only say IDES contained 30% more than IDAS4 (for international version, less than 10% for Jap IDAS4)

I remember Iketani's car introductions, those were awesome.

I think the physics on IDES were way better than Special Stage in terms of usage of the steering wheel, which makes up for a whole lot in playability.

Special Stage + Steering Wheel = No.

And playing on the controller for too long and too hard will wear down a persons fingers, especially with the D-pad. Though fun, I remember those hurt fingers. Which is probably why they made the switch to analog.

The extra courses in Special Stage were cool. Hopefully they will have it as DLC, if anything.

Overall IDES wasn't a bad game, just lack of bringing more new aspects to the game than whats already out there.

They should have been able to make the DLC more vast. Like even more cars to the line up, extra courses, and secret rival drivers that kept unlocking the more you beat them. For example, the old school drivers like Kogashiwa Ken or chief Todou. That would be epic.

Special Stage + Steering Wheel = best version of initial D ever released period unless you are a battle freak.

HAHA what they shouldve done was more dlc's and mic, make your own custom courses laugh.gif, beat each player 2 times then you get more acessories for your car like interior accessories or more happy.gif rivals but at least it isn't if you lose once on story mode you cant get blah blah blah like wmmt does.

I don't intend on selling the game, but I don't intend on playing it any time soon either. Several things made me eventually stop playing the game - the physics (d-pad worked good for Special/Street Stages, not so much for IDES physics), lack of trophies (I have become a trophy whore), lack of in-game custom music support (I'm sure most of us have bigger Eurobeat collections than IDES comes with), and lack of courses (for all the time it took to port IDAS4 to IDES, all we got was Happo).

Content wise, it was lacking in comparison to ID Special Stage, and even in comparison to Street Stage IMO. IDAS4 wasn't as huge a hit in the arcades as IDAS2 and 3 were. Taking the exact same game and adding one course to it was never going to be a winning formula.

I will honestly start playing IDES again if (and ever) Sega ever puts out a patch that upgrades the game physics to IDAS5 equivalent, add trophy and custom soundtrack support, and release a patch for more courses.

Sooner or later, Sega will port the IDAS5 over to the PS3.
ES now and D4 share so much similiarities.
