I'd rather look the other way and agree. Just because of some dumb creepypasta existing today doesn't warrant the need for kids to intentionally go and harm someone. |

Something had to be wrong with the girls in the first place. Either that or they couldn't differentiate reality from fiction. This doesn't excuse the crime, of course. Which is why whenever I have a kid, they are getting a flip phone until I can see how they act once I give them a bit of freedom to look at teh webxors. |

Maybe the question isn't what your kids have but how you raise them. Just some food for thought before you bring some awfully sheltered individuals into the world.

That's until they become teens then we'll talk about curfews and where you are going on said night. I've helped raise my nephews and niece, so I have a slight head start in the bullshit they'll throw as they grow. |

One of the girls sounded like a psychopath. Last I checked, that didn't fall under nurture. Unfortunately, there is no exact right way to raise kids, just accepted. Do your best and hopefully your best is enough. |

In my opinion, not having a cell phone doesn't mean that you're necessarily sheltered. It just means that you don't--or didn't--have the same resources as everyone else around you. I know it sounds ridiculous to walk around without a smartphone in this day and age, but it is totally possible. Look at Fragger! He has the oldest phone ever, it even has buttons! Totally unheard of, but he's perfectly fine and functional. I teach about 120 high school students and I know for a fact that not all of them have cellphones. I'm a firm believer that nature and nurture play important parts in a child's development. The things around them are their exposure and it is up to the parents to teach them what is wrong and what is right or what to do in a situation that they see. For example, a child sees a hooligan shoplifting and tells their parents. The parents can either tell their kid to mind their own business and not talk to them or let them know that stealing is bad and that whoever that person is, they will eventually get what they deserve. Same applies when teaching children how to distinguish fantasy from reality. I know shoplifting is a really weak example, but apply the same concept to this Slender man jazz going on. If those girls could not figure out that Slender man is just a work of imagination and superstitions because their parents never taught them that stabbing people is a bad idea in general. I know I was going somewhere with this argument but I forgot the destination...... I guess all in all, it is a parents job to teach their kids how to make good and socially acceptable judgement calls. And remember, the internet is a dangerous place. You always have to take everything you read here with a grain of salt. And maybe a couple shots of alcohol.

This part would be credible ten years in the future. However, people carrying "dumb" phones is not at all outlandish these days. I carried an LG If Fragger was carrying something truly out of mass market service like a rotary phone around, I'd be more willing to not laugh aloud reading the text you consciously typed. EDIT: The Chocolate 2 was stolen. It was replaced a week later with a similarly shitty LG Cosmos, which I kept on hand for three years. IDW Goldmember Group: FORUM MODERATOR Posts: 2,453 Member No.: 34,203 Joined: Oct 22nd 2009 Location: NJ, USA | ... I just replaced my dumbphone with a smartphone. First time since my first cellphone in ten or so years. Well... I got it last week but haven't activated it yet. Probably won't until late next week. My issue with smartphones stems from seeing nearly everyone that has one turn into a zombie. In-person conversations are incredulously hard to have when people have their phones out. It's stupid imo. So stupid that I stopped talking to people in person. Hence, smartphone. Not really, but you get the gist. |
