From what you described, it sounds like Sega designed a brilliant balancing system for online battles and events. For events, it doesn't matter what your rank is, you'll eventually face players of your caliber. The fact that you score less points with lower ranked cards means players have less incentive to smurf, which is great since lower ranked players would be less likely to be bullied. Kinda similar to the A3 express promotion thing, where truly skilled players advance quickly to prevent low ranked players from getting wrecked. BTW, does anyone know what the cutoff usually is? I understand it's different from event to event, but a ballpark figure would be nice, so I know when to stop pumping. This post has been edited by holnivek on Dec 21 2016, 11:57 AM |

Yes there is a system that pushes you to A3 if you win a lot but it is easy to bypass. The jump to A3 system can be bypassed by winning less than 50 meters each time prior to A3 itself. And this works close to 100% of the time over many many battles. This is has to be done so the system doesn't punish players who are good enough to win a lot but not by much. Win distance in addition to win consistency are factors in the A3 jump. The jumping system also has inadvertently punished players who happened to be good to win by a large margin at lower ranks but not at A3 where they get clobbered. This is especially the case back in the early days of the game when most of the pros were at A, and the rank was many times harder than it is now since those pros have moved on to SS or Infinity. Some players will also just stay at B1 and A3 rank up section to farm wins, since they only need to purposely lose during the rank up battle. So smurfing is very much possible and common in the game. ======= My recommendation is to stop when you start losing points for every loss. It becomes a real uphill battle from there and you will know it when you reach it. When it starts differs from event to event though from my experience. And you will get to this point sooner with lower ranked cards. This post has been edited by SonicSP on Dec 21 2016, 05:58 PM |

Well for most world battle events I tend to leave it at 20k for rank in purposes. Usually is a confirm rank in top 1000. However an easy method is to take the middle point of the first day x the amount of days event will be taking place, that would give you your rough target. Never hurts to pump slight higher.

IDW God Member Group: Members Posts: 174 Member No.: 46,366 Joined: Mar 23rd 2016 Location: Seattle, WA | Went to CYC Gurney on Saturday to take part in the Irohazaka event, but for some reason the machines couldn't find a single match. Tried it with 2 different cards, no match. Same for online battles and online tag battles. Not sure what the problem is, even though the machines were clearly online. RIP T_T On a positive note, cleared the first 2 project D missions and got 18k points. Used the points on ex spec parts, going to be ex full soon.
Ah, I wasn't aware that you could lose points. I got like 300 points when I lost to a smurf, so I thought you earn points even in defeat, just that you get less points.
Your method is quite accurate, the final rank in score is close to the score computed with your method. This post has been edited by holnivek on Dec 26 2016, 12:55 AM

Ya teammate who plays there also inform us of the same problem. The server somehow just couldn't match any opponent.

Does that teammate you're referring to happen to be TENSHI? I played him today and he mentioned he's in your team. Gurney is pretty dead since online matches can't be found. Been playing TA + in-store battles only. Kinda wish I'm still at Holiday Planet lol.

Yup, he's one of the players there and a few more actually. Just they haven't been visiting there I guess. You may still visit other arcades, since you're still situated here.

This is like one and the half months. This post has been edited by SonicSP on Jan 10 2017, 02:18 AM |

Just like how Microsoft no longer supports Windows XP and 7. Servers cost money to run and maintain, why spend money if players are going to move to D0 anyway? |

Apart from that do note that Last day to buy dnet is 15th Jan and last day for dcoins purchase is 26th Jan. So tune up all the cars you want to bring over to D0 before the only option left is using points.

Just for the record, Microsoft still supports Windows 7. It still gets security patches and they are contractually obligated to provide that until January 2020. It's past the phase where it gets new feature and all but those security patches are vital for making it a usable OS. It's not in the same vein as XP (yet) which gets absolutely nothing. On a related note, our D8 machines are still running on Windows XP......... This post has been edited by SonicSP on Jan 11 2017, 06:12 PM

I meant what you described, except maybe I wasn't being clear. Thanks for correcting me. The one I played at gurney was running on XP too. I had the technician reboot the machines the other day since they were offline, had to hold my laughter when I saw the a Windows XP loading bar on startup. Perhaps that explains why the machines lagged occasionally. The ones in round 1 Seattle were truly ringedge machines. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

FYI, Ringedge/Ringedge 2 does use Windows Embedded that is based on Windows XP as it's base OS system, which explains why you see the Win XP logo everytime the machine restarts or turn on

Just realized that gold drift boost works on in-store battles too. In one race, I tilted and screwed up before the last corner and got overtaken, but was able to overtake my opponent really quickly. Car was running at 143 kmh right before the finish line, which is much higher than the usual 130 kmh without boost. Lesson of the day: stack gold drifts even for in-store battles. |

Believe it or not the gold boost even works in story mode when you're doing the 3 "online" races. [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
