I own official copies of both Tokyopop and Funimation. I could check this out if someone wanted.

There are unofficial copies?

Well yeah, bootlegging was huge back when Initial D was getting released initially. Remember how the original release of Battle Stage in English had crap audio and was missing whole scenes?

So yeah, I'm sure there are unofficial copies.

I mean unofficial versions of the TP and Funi releases. Maybe in China, but here?

I fail to understand how this is difficult to grasp. Why on earth would anybody bootleg the Tokyoshit DVDs?

Does China enjoy the TP dub? I'm all for the kooky misadventures of Tak and Iggy, but does the poor attempt at humor translate well?

You're asking the wrong question. It's not about does it translate into Chinese--it's about does it sell to filthy foreigners looking for cheap VCDs on eBay? wink2.gif

Ah, the ones that don't know (or care) any better.

I've somehow kept my first run Funi sets all these years.

I'm not sure what bootlegs are out there. I just meant to say that I have store bought copies of TP and Funimation. I have no clue what is out there for DL or purchase on the 'bay.

What have you found as of yet? It's been a while, so some differences you found would be awesome to share.

Will do, and will post up what I find.

Sorry guys, I was laid off a few months ago, and I've been spending a stupid amount of time trying to find my next position.

I have the Tokyopop and Funimation that I can compare against each other, but the only thing that is "original" to compare it to is a bootleg ebay copy. Not sure if that would be a worthwhile comparison or not, since I have no clue where the source material came from...
